sorry big rant coming up.......

have been planning dd's birthday party for the last 4 mths (it's a joint birthday party with cousin -- they will both be two) and just thot it would be nice to give out proper bags for party packs, filled with things that the kids can use. most of the kids there will be other cousins or family members or really close friends so thats why decided to spend a little bit more on proper bags instead of the normal paper or plastic bags. but since there are going to be kids of different ages, decided to tailor make each bag to suit each kid. like for my 4-5 yr old nephews would give them a spiderman backpack with spidey stickers, pencils, notebook, spidey figurine, you get the picture. while for girls aged 3-4yr would get a strawberry shortcake bag with strawberry stickers, notebook, etc. the spidey and strawberry theme was incidental, cos i spent some 4 mths looking for the cheapest yet nicest bags and fillers, so these were the best i could find, and they are really good stuff!!i had to go to wholesale type places tho..

but anyway, since dd is sharing the party with my sis' ds, we couldnt really agree on the same theme for the cake so we ended up settling on a winnie the pooh cake (which is neutral right?)

but apparently one of the mother's who's been invited to the party is commenting (rather cattily i thot) that the party's theme is all over the place and that the cake wont match the party bags.
hmmmmph! am quite annoyed.
would it really make any difference? my official stand on the matter will be that since the birthday-ees are a girl and a boy, it'd be difficult...(plus i really couldnt track down any decent winnie the pooh bags for a quid or less, which is how much the bags i bought cost) and i'm also saying that too much of the same theme would simply be overkill!!

am tempted to strike that person off the list now..but she's actually more my sis' friend than mine. plus she's been tasked with baking cupcakes for the party (we're paying her of course). oh and of course she's been v catty about what theme we want to decorate the cupcakes!! we've said we haven't decided.

is it just me? am i being hormonal.

have a good mind not to giv her kids the nice party packs now...

ok! rant over!!!

change of topic...any ideas on good party games for toddlers? had earlier toyed with idea of hiring a clown but thot they were too young, plus didnt want to spend THAT much money!!!

many thanks if you'd read this far!!!

We had pass the parcel and musical bumps and simon said.
We also had a lot of "seaside" pictures for the children to colour and a big background for them to stick them on once finished as an activity. This was in our house though so we needed to contain the free for all somewhat.

If you're going to a place with a swimming pool and play area, you won't need any organised games, just constant supervision Grin

When my dd was that age I got a ready-made party cake from M & S with balloons on it (went with every "theme" and suitable for boys and girls)

yeah "constant supervision" is right!! have assigned dh and the other dad to supervise the pool....and two other helpers to "watch" the kids playing in the playroom!!

I remember when my dd was 2 we did pin the tail on the donkey, only we didn't blindfold them.Just turned them round 3 times and they still put the tail on everywhere except the bum...hilarious!

Party bags complete waste of time imo.
