...can I take the liberty of starting another thread, since the other one filled up?

I want to make thatcake, but I dont think my cale making skills are up to it :(

Blatherskite · 12/03/2012 21:20

I don't think many people could pull off that mad hatter cake!

Stealth could obviously :)

stealthsquiggle · 12/03/2012 21:58

LOL. I have never done one of those wonky cakes, but have always wanted to try. If you google there are lots of simpler but still effective mad hatter cakes though - the ones I like best are mostly either hats or teapots.

I have a giant cupcake tin stealth. I made one for dd's first birthday. 30 bloody quid the tin cost me!

Blathers what a dilemma about the box. I'd leave it pizza express as it will add to the trickery and save you the work!

Blatherskite · 12/03/2012 22:07

The little girl who had the soft play party at the weekend had a giant cupcake cake. It was beautiful but I guess once you've done one, the rest are all variations on a theme.

I took a photo but can't work out how to get it from my phone to MN without uploading it via Facebook. I'll have another go tomorrow but I'm off to bed now.

Glad to see you DW. How are you and DD?

stealthsquiggle · 12/03/2012 22:11

Giant "eat me" cupcake would also work for Mad Hatter, of course.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 07:38

Oooh, it would wouldn't it.

I'm sure DW will let us borrow her tin Wink

Tinkerisdead · 13/03/2012 10:44

You're right ive never done another cake with the tin. Although dd1 said to me yesterday could she have a fairy party next time so im thinking it may work as a toadstool house! But yes feel free to borrow.

Dd still has some blood but tiny amounts compared to before. Ive got a dietician appoint on monday, as well as postnatal check and blood clinic!!! All different doctors. Its a nightmare.

I forgot to take warfarin last night and so i have to go back to clinic this morn to get checked again!!! Was only there yesterday.

Anyway its my mission to get a date finalised for her service by tomorrow. So spur me on people.

stealthsquiggle · 13/03/2012 11:21

Good luck with the endless round of doctors and clinics, DrsW.

How is the blessing party "mood board" coming on?

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 14:31

"herbs" and "pepperoni" made. Doing the mushrooms next...

Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 17:44

Going to do mushrooms freehand as the mould is too small and the scale looks wrong.

Need to do a grocery order for the last bits and for the picnic on Saturday. All DS has asked for is ham sandwiches and coleslaw! What else shall I take?

Planning to take chocolate cupcakes for the cake. I've got some edible mini figures from ebay and I'll take a candle for him to blow out but a bit stuck on what to have for the savoury bit

stealthsquiggle · 13/03/2012 17:50

Lots of cocktail sausages. No such thing as too many of those.

Cheese straws if you can be bothered.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 17:52

Liking the sausage idea....they're on the list. We might have some bought cheese straws in the cupboard. Definitely cba to make them this week

stealthsquiggle · 13/03/2012 17:56

grapes. mini tomatoes. cucumber. Just in case Grin

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 18:02

DS will love all of those. DD is a nightmare to cater for at picnic though. Picky child Sad

Tinkerisdead · 13/03/2012 21:32

Dare i suggest cold pizza? Ha ha. You're gonna be sick of pizza soon. Errrr crisps, pork pie, chicken drumsticks or would they get too warm?

Stealth i need to get on pinterest really cos my mood board is just random bookmarks saved to my ipod.poems and menus and diy flower arranging. And i couldnt face calling venue etc because...

I went to blood clinic, we were meant to be having a duvet day, you know keeping our pj's on and watching endless peppa as no appointments planned in until i forgot to take meds. I bundled the girls off to clinic and dd1 played me up. Climbing on the chair that i needed to sit in, telling me to find another then sliding off it. Nurse told her sternly to sit down. Dd1 goes into shy mode and wont move. Nurse snaps at me to lift her out and not let her dictate to me. Im telling dd to get up as i need blood test but explain i cant lift her due to c section scar still pulling etc. Nurse launches into one at how dd is evidently playing on the fact and if i dont sort her now then she'll be worse going forward. I felt the tears pricking and told dd to behave.

Get to reception where dd keeps running to automatic doors to make them open and dd2 has a poo, cue much painfilled screaming. I tell dd1 off for messing with the door and for running off as it opens to car park. Receptionist then snaps that perhaps dd1 needs a cuddle as she's probably feeling pushed out by the baby.

I got in the car and sobbed like never before. All the shit i've been through and two tossers brought me to that.

Blatherskite · 13/03/2012 21:38

1 - I could never get sick of pizza. Hence the reason I'm having to do weight watchers right now!

2 - I've already promised DS the lego pizza slices I linked to above so they're already on the list :)

3 - Grrr at people and their "helpful" comments. It's all so easy when they see you for 5 minutes - living it is a hell of a lot harder. So Angry that they made you cry.

Tinkerisdead · 14/03/2012 01:21

Oh yes i forgot lego pizza. Are you staying at the lego hotel i cant remember if you said? Hows weight watchers going?

Blatherskite · 14/03/2012 07:20

DS would love to but funds would only stretch to a traveldodgy nearby. It'll still be exciting and I'm sure we can provide our own lego.

Weightwatchers going well. I joined on 6th January and have lost 1st 2lbs so far. 5lbs to go to goal...

Tinkerisdead · 14/03/2012 08:52

Wow thats brilliant success. Welldone you. I did after dd1
And i could have 18 points and i found it really hard. Although i did it using books rather than meetings. I'll def do it again when i stop breastfeeding. Any good tips?

Blatherskite · 14/03/2012 09:25

I'm doing it online. Meetings don't appeal. It's pro points now so pretty much all fruit and veg is free - including bananas. I get 26 points a day which seems about average and you get an extra 49 to blow over the week on treats although I try hard to never use them. I'm sure I only got 18 when I tried it after having DS too. I'm finding it much easier and much more successful this time.

I'm finding getting the magazine helpful as it gives me lots of ideas for recipes so I don't get bored and I'm having fruit for breakfast every morning to save my points for lunch and dinner which is helping but the I've never been a breakfast person so maybe that helps?

Tinkerisdead · 14/03/2012 12:24

Bananas make me wretch! Right i'll def give it a go then. I say i'll stop it after breastfeeding as im sure you cant diet when feeding? Plus my diet is so restricted being dairyfree and on warfarin too. But i weigh the same now as i did after dd1 so at least im not starting on a backfoot.

Blatherskite · 14/03/2012 12:39

WW have an option for Breastfeeding mums, they just give you extra points.

Probably best waiting until you're well though.

Blatherskite · 14/03/2012 20:38

Right, the party is tomorrow!!! Pepperoni, herbs and mushrooms prep-ed, going to make the cake first thing. DH is off tomorrow so he can do the school run while I bake. Then I'll take DD to dancing while it cools properly - I hate waiting for cakes to cool, too impatient - then I'll make the red cream cheese frosting when I get home to top it with before decorating with my prep-ed toppings and "cheese". Will play about with making some peppers tomorrow too.

Party bags are all done. Need to get birthday banner out and buy a helium balloon and we should be all set

Tinkerisdead · 14/03/2012 22:25

Im more excited over this pizza cake than anything else we have all done partywise!
