...can I take the liberty of starting another thread, since the other one filled up?

[dithers]

It would be fun to have them decorate aprons, but TBH your options are either paint (messy and takes ages to dry) or fabric pens (expensive by the time you have enough to go around) - maybe they could make pizza badges instead?

OP posts:

I love that idea!

I think I'll stick with just painting the boys names on the aprons. They can decorate them at home afterwards if they want. Now just need some design ideas for how to put the names on...

stealthsquiggle · 26/01/2012 16:51

lots of options there - you could print it on ink transfer paper (I can find a link if you want) or just paint it freehand with "puffy"/3D fabric paint, or applique them (we're not talking about 30 DC here, are we - in which case scratch that one...) How about printing in a pizza font?

ink transfer paper (other brands/ better deals probably available)

God its not 30 kids is it blathers?

My mum is really coming into her own now. Mil lives 40 mins west, mum lives 50 mins east. I ask if she could come here on baby day to get dd from preschool etc and potentially bring her to the hospital later. She said no, ask mil as she doesnt know the way (nor does mil). So i say about her visiting baby at the hospital. Get told oh no, i wont be coming that day i'll see it another day. Send me a picture on your phone. Sad

I should add that with dd she came to stay, hurtled to visit that day but got lost and curses me now that she missed seeing dd unlike mil. I cant win.

And i keep wanting a pizza party for myself now!

Blatherskite · 26/01/2012 20:13

No, just 8 this time (7 5 year old boys and DD)

The Pizza font is amazing. I could do them freehand but the font and the transfer paper might look better. Going to have to have a play. Thank goodness I have until March :)

Your Mum is a PITA DW! Do you have any other options?

Tinkerisdead · 26/01/2012 20:29

Def go down the transfer paper route. Do you have photoshop so you could design a 'logo' of sorts, colour the font in etc?

My mum is a pita. Thank god for mil i tell you. And i bet every penny in my bank account that baby will be here and she'll start falling over herself to get involved. When i really needed help, summer holidays with severe morning sickness again she told me to ask mil. Im not going to ask for anything now. Playschool can hold dd until 6pm at afterschool club and mil can get her no problem. So its only that one day.

Blatherskite · 26/01/2012 20:53

Thank goodness for MILs! Not all of them are ogres :)

Have downloaded the font. Just got to order some aprons and transfer paper now. Party is booked as of this afternoon so just got to force myself to wait to send out the invites now.

Tinkerisdead · 26/01/2012 21:05

Link to invites???

stealthsquiggle · 26/01/2012 21:20

I like pizza font a lot. I am sort-of sorry I didn't find that for DD's party, but hers was generic "cooking" rather than pizzas, so maybe best.

Does it come up well in colour? I think it would look good in red on those Baker Ross aprons even if you will go through a whole ink cartridge printing it.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 26/01/2012 21:20

I love these ones

Blatherskite · 26/01/2012 21:22

I haven't been able to have a proper play with it yet as I got DH to download it to the PC and I'm on the netbook but the sample looked good.

stealthsquiggle · 26/01/2012 21:26

Those are lovely - and because you are going for a sensible number of invitees you will only need 1 pack. I always look at stuff like that and then baulk at the price for whole class invites.

One of DD's friends invited her to a riding party - only 3 guests allowed - and DD can't go Sad - I went straight back to birthday girl's mother so that she could invite someone else, but apparently birthday girl would rather only have 2 than invite someone else - which is so sweet, but I feel awful that DD can't make it. Birthday girl is coming over to play and do valentines' baking (on a different day) instead so expect me to be up to my ears in pink sugary things on 14/2 Grin

They'll even change the sex and hair colour to make it look like your DC.

And yes, with only 8, I'll be able to just get one pack.

Tinkerisdead · 26/01/2012 21:38

Oooh those invites are soooo cute. Love them. I love the party planning bit. So those invites, personalised aprons, pizza express for the pizzas.

How we going with cake and final party bags blathers?

Blatherskite · 26/01/2012 21:56

I'm thinking maybe little paper bags with the names in that pizza font filled with a jelly pizza, one of those pizza sticker books, possibly a couple of badges and space for a chunk of cake and their apron

They'll have eaten a massive, adult sized pizza and an ice cream at the party so I'm guessing most won't have space for cake at the party. Any uneaten pizza can be put in a pizza box to take home too.

Cake - I think maybe just a home made sponge decorated to look like a pizza. With only 8 guests, I won't need a huge Costco one this time.

stealthsquiggle · 26/01/2012 22:04

nice white paper bags - actually, I may well have 8 left from DD's party - would you like me to look?

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 26/01/2012 22:11

Yep i've got about ten of the big ones of those if you want them? I glued gruffalo pics to the front. They were big enough to hold an a4 book in each. If you want mine shout fast as i could well be down the labour ward and dh wouldnt have a clue where to look!!!

Tinkerisdead · 26/01/2012 22:12

Obviously ones im offering dont have gruffalos!

Tinkerisdead · 26/01/2012 22:14

Oh and im not stepping on stealth, shes linked to small and ive got large so its just to give you a choice.

stealthsquiggle · 26/01/2012 22:23

Grin at abundance of spare white paper carrier bags.

Something has to be done before I run out of cupboard space.

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 26/01/2012 22:24

how big are the sticker books? If they are A4 then you definitely need DrW's bags - I think A5 would fit easily in the ones I have.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 27/01/2012 09:22

Also Grin at the choice of spare paper bags.

The book is 14.5 x 10.4 so A6. If you don't mind Stealth, the A5 ones would probably be perfect. Big enough to get the other bits in too but small enough that they look full with just a few things in them.

Thank you both for the offers.

stealthsquiggle · 27/01/2012 09:37

I shall rummage and let you know how many I have.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 27/01/2012 14:08

I'm considering buying a Chocolate Pizza making kit and making one for DS's party. I could put a 'slice' into one of the leftover cone bags I have from DD's party and put one in each bag along with their jelly pizza to pad things out a little.

Good idea?
