The old thread has filled up and no one noticed - I think we're missing @oblomov26 sharp eyes!

I've tried to tag in everyone I can think of, but apologies to anyone I've missed!

DD now sending photos of her Take That hospitality sit down dinner and free drinks. I'm surprised they let two students in - there's a dress code 🤣

crazycrofter · 20/06/2026 20:13

Oh wow, she’s so lucky @mummyinbeds!

How exciting for her @mummyinbeds

Which theatre did you see Paddington in @Piggywaspushedand were you balcony or circle or upper level? That price is definitely in reach for DD. Would have to be in school holiday time or weekend as she can’t take time off school as an ECT (or any teacher I guess)

Wow, yes I remember the go-go craze and moshi monsters too. We had so many too. DD was very much into Club Penguin too and we had lots of the plushy puffles 😁 Passed on all her Minecraft soft toys as she’s back into The Sims now.

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2026 11:31

It's at the Savoy . We were in the Grand Circle. The view for a West End theatre in the Gods is OK and the legroom acceptable.

Comefromaway · 21/06/2026 13:45

We are waiting for Paddington to become cheaper. Dh has very bad vertigo so we can’t go high. The Savoy is a beautiful theatre. Dd used to work there.

we met Ds in Manchester last night and saw Something Rotten. It was brilliant. I loved it. Currently on our way to Take That.

depending on when you are seeing Blood Brothers there is a small possibility of DS being part of it

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2026 14:32

I have vertigo! I was fine in The Savoy. Row G of the grand circle. the first rows up to about C might be worse for vertigo but at the back you have flat floor in front of you separating the two bits.

When we went to The Nou Camp, I virtually had to crawl on hands and knees to my seat!

craggyrat · 22/06/2026 07:03

Ah Club Penguin @AnneOfCleavage ! Gosh had forgotten all about that major obsession...we had many puffles and that was probably the first online game DS played. He loved raising puffles- i hope they're all still okay somewhere in the ether in their luxury igloos he created!!

crazycrofter · 22/06/2026 09:12

Dd played Club Penguin too!

AnotherNewName460 · 22/06/2026 10:17

Club penguin and skylanders here too!

I even had my own Club Penguin account so I knew what the kids were doing :-)

AnneOfCleavage · 22/06/2026 11:29

I have happy memories of playing the fishing game on Club Penguin and then DD would swoop to finish when the big fish at the end came along. She also got me to play the ice cream
game on moshi monsters as I was fast 😂

@Piggywaspushedahh The Savoy. I had a look and I can see the dress circle or the upper circle so assume you mean the upper? Great advice re row G being flatter xx

Piggywaspushed · 22/06/2026 12:04

Yes, upper circle I guess. They call it Grand in the actual building, I think.

crazycrofter · 22/06/2026 12:24

Ds has applied for a uni internship for next semester - a day a week - working with a team doing anti-modern slavery research. He's really keen on it, but spent so long procrastinating that his application was submitted in a bit of a rush last night at 11.58 (midnight deadline!). I was drafted in to write the section about his interests 😂which was hopefully the least important bit of the form. It was a very long application form, so good practice for him.

I'm on "job application support" duty for DS tonight too @crazycrofter . He's got so many saved now that he cuts and pastes most of it but still needs a little bit of help making sure he hasn't missed any key words and that the English is of a good standard. I don't change much though because his natural enthusiasm does seem to stand out and that is really important. We looked at the job spec yesterday and I said "oh that's what that speech was about from the guest at your graduation" so he went off to research and quote the speech giver.

crazycrofter · 22/06/2026 15:11

Oh that's great that he had a relevant speaker to quote @EffortlesslyDistracted ! It must be easier now he's got various examples from different jobs/volunteering and what skills they demonstrate in place.

I've not helped dd with any applications, but she's always been very independent. I did read her dissertation, but that's the extent of my involvement in her education really! Oh and I think I read her A Level History coursework too...

Ds is independent, but likes feedback and also leaves things too late 😫And I also feel job applications is an area where we can actually help, given our life experience! He was going to use a word yesterday which would have given completely the wrong impression and it turned out he'd misunderstood its meaning...

DD1 got her results today. She got a first! She is very happy. We will celebrate with her when she comes home.

crazycrofter · 22/06/2026 16:13

Well done to your dd @BlueMarigold !!

Congrats @BlueMarigold DD!

@crazycrofter similar with my DD, I didn't get so much as a look at her A level courseworks and EPQ, and only reluctantly did she let me help her with her CV. I do get her to download and save any training certificates she picks up and that's about it.

craggyrat · 22/06/2026 16:18

That's fantastic news @BlueMarigold !

Aslockton · 22/06/2026 18:45

Fabulous news @BlueMarigold A first -yehhh!! I have lost track, what and where was she studying? What are her post grad plans?

EffortlesslyDistracted · 22/06/2026 19:23

Was she Birmingham? A friend's DC got their grade there today.

BlueMarigold · 22/06/2026 23:39

Yes was was. It’s been a crazy few years and so much has happened in 4 years. I am enjoying catching up on all the good news and seeing our Covid cohort grow into adults

Comefromaway · 23/06/2026 13:15

Well done to her BlueMarigold

Delphigirl · 23/06/2026 14:02

I'm in shock... My dd1 is househunting in West London and has just found the first house DH and I bought in 1997, and in which she was born, on the market. We bought it for £340k and it is currently on sale for..... £2.85m. Bloody hell. A mid-size end of terrace. It has three bedrooms (one of which is a boxroom) and another in an attic conversion.

Who the hell is spending that on a slightly shitty house in hammersmith???
