Thread 54 - Summer 25 - Graduations after Uni Year 3

Oblomov25 · 20/06/2025 17:15

This is a support thread for our young adults post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting, and their results ( or life updates for those who went into work or have had results earlier). It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, uni vs employment please don't within this thread.
Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this will continue. We were previously on the secondary board and then further education, now we shall be here in 'Parents of Adult Children' gulp
Our DS/DD may continue down various pathways ( employment, apprenticeships, higher ed). Experience is that everyone is welcomed wherever, whatever their child is doing we have some in work, gap years , apprenticeships etc too. Lots of contributors with different experiences and always sympathy and advice to be had.

I love hearing everybody's good news!
@Aslockton - that must be difficult, hope all goes well.
@Oblomov25 congratulations - I can't imagine doing exams now - I can barely remember my own name some days 😂

AnneOfCleavage · 09/10/2025 10:21

Wow so much news to wake up to. Congratulations @Oblomov25 and @OublietteBravo👏👏
Is this her first tour @Aslockton?

Oblomov25 · 09/10/2025 10:47

Didn't want to tell anyone incase I didn't pass, but I did pass, so I'll tell you lot as you've know me a long time. I did my CIMA exams, so now a Qualified CIMA Management Accountant. (Having failed one of my ACA papers 20 years ago!). I've been studying hard since last summer. How my husband has put up with it I don't know! I sat my MCS management paper in May, my SCS strategic paper in August. Got my results last night. Already submitted my PER (proof of 3 years experience).Qualified. BAM!!

Fabulous @Oblomov25, your boys must be so proud of you too (including your DH in that line)!

Oblomov25 · 09/10/2025 11:15

Anyone wish to be OP? Because we do need a new thread.

Well done @Oblomov25 that’s amazing!! I remember my ACA results coming out at midnight 😩

@Aslockton that sounds a bit worrying , although I’m sure you’re very proud of her too.

Shimy · 09/10/2025 12:53

@Oblomov25 Congratulations, what an achievement!

Thread55

New Thread 55. It accidentally went into '30 days' section, instead of 'Parents of Adult Children', so I've asked MNHQ to move it.

Yay well done @Oblomov25 ! I have no idea what any of those acronyms mean but it is very impressive. Thanks for starting a new thread.

The link doesn't work as it has been moved now so here is a new link

Well done @Oblomov25 Another one here who remembers the ACA results coming out in The Times and many of us gathering around Kings X to get the next days papers to find out before we got the letter the next day.

@Aslockton good luck with dealing with parental worry for the deployment.

EwwSprouts · 09/10/2025 22:28

Congratulations! Fantastic perseverance @Oblomov25 from another who failed just one ACA paper many moons ago. I took it as a sign 😂
