i have even designed my own nappy style to make but don't think i could do it for a living as my little helper does not like me to be at the sewing machine for too long. if i am the sewing machine fairy comes along and changes the stiches when i am sewing (its touch screen so easy to change).

I shall just be happy if someone wants to take them when we are finished with them all.

ninja have not tried anything yet as an nappy virgin , have used [re folds only up to now, but not cutting it for me, what are your reommendations??

not talking ninja /

moocowme · 07/10/2008 21:08

being a bit tight as i am i found it very wasteful to get one nappy out of a standard nappy cut of fabric with so many bits left over.

basically i laid a disposable out and had a look. Its a long rectangle with a couple of tabs on the front (stop legs getting chafed) and some longer tabs with velcro at the back and a velcro strip on the front. If the nappy cut of fabric is big enough i get two nappies from it. if its a bit small i just use plain fleece for the tab bits as they are not in the line of duty.

the outside is a bright PUL fabric, inside is funky microfleece and i stuff them with baboo terry.

i am thinking of putting this pattern with instructions on the net. it is slightly fidlier than standard patterns but it does save £££ by being economical with fabric.

they work fine for me, never had a problem with them.

rusmum · 07/10/2008 21:17

want to sell one and pattern so I can have a go???

ninja · 07/10/2008 22:02

Sorry rusman bit accupied with lo.

How old is yours? I would recommend Mother Ease Wraps and nappies depends on size and shape. I like ones that are fleece lined.

rusmum · 08/10/2008 09:42

ninja DD is 10 weeks but 12.3lb so chubby.

moocowme · 08/10/2008 20:41

I claim the dullest and shortest list of all. We have 8 mixed 75cm and 78cm Terries and 60 X 60cm ones. I also stake a claim to have the oldest nappies still in use, 6 Harringtons terries first used by my mother on my younger brother 30 years ago which are still softer and feel thicker than all of the newer and more modern ones even after we have used them fairly regularly on all of our 4 DCs.

rusmum · 09/10/2008 23:34

catwith that is fabulous!!!
my ;ist is still short but not that short!! LOL

ninja · 10/10/2008 09:29

Hi rusman soryy computer's been broken (but house is a lot cleaner! )

I recommend -

Tots bots always reliable
Ella's house fleece lined (I like the hemp ones) absorbant and poppered so easy to adjust
I like the Diddy Diapers

Actually I like them all in different ways.

Let me know if you want to try something!!

rusmum · 10/10/2008 10:52

rusmum · 12/10/2008 21:00

ninja · 13/10/2008 09:57

Sadly no - weekend visiting sick grans (one early 90's, one 99!)

My e-mail is abigail dot bown at virgin dot net I'll send you a Ella's house to try. The only thing about them is they benefit from a blast in the tumble dryer sometimes as they can get very stiff otherwise

There's 2nd hnad nappies in the classifieds here and UKParents have a good second hand nappy forum.

rusmum · 13/10/2008 11:30

I am so sorry to hear about sick nans - thanks for offer - that would be fab!!
