I have to confess to making up DD's night feeds in advance and storing them in the fridge I know I'm not surpose to but I can barely manage to locate the correct screaming DC at 3 in the morning nevermind make up a bottle of formula!

Oh god here goes:
1)Always made up the formula feeds a day in advance and stored in fridge.
2)DS slept on his front from 6 weeks old (silent reflux as well and seemed to help).
3)Leave DS in car whilst paying for petrol.
4)Have a huge amount of Yo Gabba Gabba, Thomas the Tank engine, Curious George, Mist Sheep dog tales recorded for DS on Sky plus box for when I need to do housework. It's the only way he will sit still for 2 seconds.
5)When DS is teething and not eating at all I have sat him in front of TV and shovelled food into his gob whilst he is in too much of a trance to put up a fight.
Oh God I can here the social services van screeching up our street now.

MumofOscar · 07/01/2010 20:43

Hmm I'm thinking your right helpyouiwill. DS is 5 and I'm almost positive I was actually advised to pre-mix his formula to make it easier. Becasuse I definately wouldn't have done it if it wasn't recommended

GaribaldiGirl · 07/01/2010 20:46

can i add 'breastfed when extremely tiddly' without risk of social services knocking on my door?

I preboil the water and have never made up formula with just boiled water. I have a jug that holds boiled water instead for making bottles all day long.

I only used a sterilizer because DS was in SCBU after birth. Otherwise I never would have bothered and have stopped now that he's 6 months.

memoo · 07/01/2010 21:27

I also leave DC in the car when paying for petrol.

If DD is asleep when we've been out for a walk I leave her in the hall in her pram in her snowsuit and everything. I do open the windows though so that she doesn't get too hot.

Oh and I never get her weighed or take her to the baby clinic. She is my 3rd and growing out of her babygros as fast as I can buy them. I don't need her weighing to know she is putting on weight

BelleDameSansMerci · 07/01/2010 21:32

I never got mine weighed either and she is my first and only. I knew she was fine - the little porker!

Lionstar · 07/01/2010 21:37

Ah yes, I never sterilised except new things out of packet (though mostly breastfed, so not an everyday risk?)

GaribaldiGirl I initially read 'tiddly' as meaning tiny, and wondered what the crime was in breastfeeding a very small infant . I also confess to breastfeeding whilst under the influence

And as you are all confessing to too much TV, I'll raise my hand to overdependence on CBeebies - though I don't know what is worse for my sanity, clingy toddler or inane programming!

One more - I subscribe to the 5 second rule for food being lobbed on the floor (it gets returned to the plate if under 5 seconds). Though I only do this at home with my own grubby pristine floors

LunarSea · 07/01/2010 21:41

I used to leave ds2 to sleep in the car or the buggy if he fell asleep on the way home because I couldn't move him without waking him and he wouldn't go off again even if he'd only had 10 minutes sleep (not in freezing or boiling conditions obviously).

In fact he used to have all his naps in the buggy/carseat/highchair because strapping him down was the only way to get him to stop still for long enough to actually go to sleep - he simply wouldn't lie down in a cot!

havoc · 07/01/2010 21:43

When DS wakes up in the morning (anything between 4:30 and 6:30), I don't bother to try and get him back to sleep anymore. We go downstairs, cuddle up on the sofa and watch videos. Well, he watches tv and I snooze.

Also, never went near a HV with DD or DS.

hf128219 · 07/01/2010 21:46

Does anyone use the 'I hear you' App on their iphone?

memoo · 07/01/2010 21:59

Whats that hf?

OP posts:
hf128219 · 07/01/2010 22:04

You can leave a mobile phone anywhere (e.g where a baby is sleeping, such as in a car) and when a noise is detected it will phone another phone.

Tis very clever! You can use it to snoop on your boss too!

SparklyGothKat · 07/01/2010 22:11

I leave my kids in the car when paying for petrol.
They have unlimited access to TV and PC during the day.
DS2 like thomas the tank engine (what 2 year old boy doesn't) and watches it on DVD LOADS

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2010 22:19

I microwaved stuff (always stired well afterwards)
I often leave dd outside if she is asleep in pushchair - didn't know there were guidelines against this
Have never heard the strawberry thing
We watch too much Cbeebies
I have bfed after a few glasses of vino
I am pg at the mo and keep forgetting to take my folic acid

Oh and dd loves fruitshoots - only when at the pub or at Nanas house! (not sure if that makes it better or worse)

whattheheck · 07/01/2010 22:21

Ummm sorry to express ignorance - what are you meant to do if not leave kids in car when paying for petrol???

(ducks brickbats)

whattheheck · 07/01/2010 22:22

in case last msg not clear i mean I can't see what else you would do

(ducks again)

cheesesarnie · 07/01/2010 22:22

the guidlines change so often that its impossible not to be a bad parent.

im far to bad to list why.mainly to do with tv,food and sleeping .but im uptight about other things that may or may not be 'guidlines'.

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2010 22:23

Obviously you should use the bus

whattheheck · 07/01/2010 22:24

for own confession gave up that boiling in a saucepan in case kettle had been boiled twice in about a nanosecond as it took too long

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 07/01/2010 22:24

If my daughter falls asleep in the car (the only way we can get decent naps recently) I leave her sleeping when we get home, and just leave the car door and front door open and keep an ear out for her waking. In mild weather, obviously.

Also b'fed after wine.

Never did the puree thing, went straight to finger food. Purees are SO TEDIOUS.

I totally return food floor to her. Strengthening the immune system, I call it.

whattheheck · 07/01/2010 22:25

of course Wonderstuff - i am a bad mother for not even realising

dandycandyjellybean · 07/01/2010 22:25

made up feeds in advance and then micro'd
bf after alcohol
weaned at barely 5 months
did cc at 12 weeks
ds has milky tea every day, sometimes several times a day, has always loved it don't see the harm
he watches loads of films/dvds (we don't have tv)
he has pj days whenever poss

he he he don't care so there

memoo · 07/01/2010 22:28

HF, that sounds fab, I want one!

OP posts:
AnnieBeansMum · 07/01/2010 22:39

-I let my dd (2) watch far too much television
-She loves chocolate and has it fairly often
-I prepared all her bottles in advance and refridgerated them
-Then warmed them in the microwave
-I started weaning at 16 weeks
-She sometimes wears the same clothes two days in a row (unless she gets them really dirty)
-She started nursery just after her 1st birthday
-When I have a lieu day at work (from doing overtime) I still put her in nursery and have a day to myself
-She loves really diluted Ribena, even though the bottle says not suitable for under 3 year old.
-We sometimes have jammie days on the weekend and neither of us bother to get dressed

I'm going to stop now. I'm beginning to question my parenting abilities.
