I like to crash nap threads. My dd gave up naps at 13 months. 13 months, do you hear me? That's 1yr, 1 month. It was hell I tell you, hell.

justaphase · 30/12/2009 14:29

Between 15 mins and an hour, mostly about 45mins and occasionally not at all

My DS was napping for a couple of hours at this age

GhoulsAreLoud · 30/12/2009 14:30

Lol lastofthemulledwine, I'm sure I read that from you recently as well!

DD is almost 17mo and does anything from 45 mins to 1hr45 mins. Average is just over an hour.

about 30 mins. its fine with me though because he sleeps 7om till 10am of a night.

LastOfTheMulledWine · 30/12/2009 14:31

I do bang on about it. And the birth if you give me chance to do so.

13 months though. Why dd? Why?

GhoulsAreLoud · 30/12/2009 14:32

Ooh, what happened at the birth?

tassisssss · 30/12/2009 14:46

wow addicted, that's fantastic re nights!

my girls are 18 months and 3.3 and both sleep from 1pm-3pm and 7-7ish at night. it's lovely. i realise i'm on borrowed time with dd1, but I'm loving it while it lasts.

LastOfTheMulledWine · 30/12/2009 14:48

My dd sleeps from 11pm till around 8am. What the buggery feck is going on?

Ooh, the birth.

Well. It was a Wednesday, the sun had set. I remember we were eating chilli, not the greatest chilli I'd ever made but passable. Rice too. The wind was just starting to get up but it was refreshing on a warm May night.

Honestly, you don't want to know.... That ^ was the beginning of the short version.

DD2 has an afternoon nap for about an hour and half and sleeps 7pm till 8am.

BalloonSlayer · 30/12/2009 15:03

Not trying to make you but DS2 is 2.3 and sleeps for at least 2 hours at lunchtime and from approx 7.30pm to 7.00am nights.

So did the other two.

D'you want to know who it's down to? Do ya? Do ya?

MrsJohnDeere · 30/12/2009 15:14

At that age ds2 slept for about 1.5 hours. Now (22mo) it can be closer to 2 hours if he's been very active in the morning.

PrivetDancer · 30/12/2009 15:19

Well she's only 16m, so I am not strictly allowed on here, but somedays she goes without and some days (eg yesterday) I have to wake her up after 3 hours. So far today she's had about an hour and a half, but as it's quite late I really should think about making some noise on the landing or something.

Piffpaffpoff · 30/12/2009 15:21

DD (16mo) does approx 2.5 hours in the afternoon and then 7pm til 8am. DS was the same, although he never managed much past 7am. Am very, very lucky mum indeed.

BiscuitStuffer · 30/12/2009 21:10

crikey - I wasn't expecting so much variation - and dropping naps at 13 months . oh no no no, that's not for me at all. oh no.

Mine does between 40 mins to 2.5 hours but I've been making sure he doesn't go longer than 1.5 hours as I suspect it makes him have a shorter night

IMoveTheStarsForChristmas · 30/12/2009 21:12

1 x 2 hour nap. Still the same (most days) at 2.1yo

LOTMW - ARGH! that's shit...

go on, tell your birth story. you know you want to

FiveGoMadInDorset · 30/12/2009 21:15

DS 18 months does 2 hours when at home if at nursery then varies from 10 minutes to an hour. He sleeps 6pm to 7am.

BiscuitStuffer · 01/01/2010 07:34

Are any of you waking them up after a certain length of time or letting them wake naturally and does it affect their nights either way?

OP posts:
LittleSilver · 01/01/2010 07:38

BalloonSlayer yes I DO want to know! My 18mo slept for 90 minutes and was woken, but would have slept for 2 hours if given the chance

TheMysticMasseuse · 01/01/2010 07:45

between one hour and 2 hours and a half, on average about 1h 45min.

crappy sleeper at night though.

truthisinthewine · 01/01/2010 08:11

No nap at all. Hasn't slept during the day since about 9 months old. Also have 3 year old DD at home who hasn't slept in the day since just over a year. sob

BalloonSlayer · 01/01/2010 16:34

Littlesilver, I am afraid it was all down to "she who must not be named."

When my eldest two were 3 and 18m respectively, thanks to "her" I still got a 2 hour break at lunchtime while they snoozed. Ah bliss.

TheMysticMasseuse · 02/01/2010 07:46

balloon, i got that 2 hour break too until dd1 was 3 1/2 despite being my parenting being all over the place ( "she who cannot be named" would probably have me burnt at the stake ).

i truly believe it is nothing to do with the way you parent and everything to do with your children's needs and temperatment. both my dds never slept as babies unless held or in a pram, and even then only for 30 minutes at a time. both of them started to get into more of a napping groove at around 6-7 months and were napping beautifully by 12 months. nighttime sleep a completely different matter though!!

sorry- not meant to be awkward to you (isn't that simultaneous nap just bliss), but I still have vivid memories of being told by a particularly smug gf follower at a playgroup that dd1 didn't sleep through because "it's your fault. have you not heard of gf?"

hence the name is forever associated with that very unpleasand mother...

but, to stop ranting, I am pretty sure that whether your child stops napping at 13 months or 5 years old is pretty much down to the child, rather than to anything you do...

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 02/01/2010 07:58

My 17.5 month old sleeps between 1.5-2 hours between 12-2 and then sleeps fairly reliable (touch wood, cross fingers, prays to the all mighty sleep god of all religions) between 7pm and 6am.

One thing I am sure of however is that a) parenting has bugger all to do with it and b) every baby, like every adult, has different sleep needs.

PDR · 02/01/2010 08:03

My 18 month old naps from 1pm-3pm and sometimes longer.

Morning nap also happens sometimes, usually from 10am for about an hour.

Then he goes to bed 6.30am-7.30/8ish.

Also agree totally down to the child, there is nothing I have done/not done to get such a sleepy little thing!
