have to take DS1 to his induction afternoon (2nd one - hoping he doesn't throw up like he did last week LOL) at his new school.........thing is DS2 has his sleep at 1pm-3pm - and the induction afternoon starts at 1.30

So I'm going to put DS2 down for his sleep as usual, at 1.30 on the dot grab the monitor, lock the front door and whizz round to the school to drop DS1 off - then whizz back again

yes nannynick, how would you parents feel then?

HannahBoo · 26/06/2005 18:15

.....and also nannynick, if you were a parent and not a nanny, would u feel it was right to leave your son alone while u went out, even if it was for a few minutes?

HannahBoo · 26/06/2005 18:19

and oh yea, if I didnt take my 2 to the bathroom with me, they would probably come up to fond me anyway, thus climbing 2 flights of stairs in process and probably mucking around on the stairs too which is very dangerous!

It must be nice to be so perfect that you feel you have the right to judge other parents so harshly, Hannahboo. I may not agree with QOQ'a opinion but I defend her right to have it and to parent her children as she sees fit. QOQ isn't stupid, she is able to weigh up the risks involved and decide on her own way of dealing with things. You have stated several times that you have the right to an opinion (and yes, you do) but that QOQ is "wrong". She has the right to an opinion, too, and not only that, she has the right to express that opinion without holier-than-thou posters looking down their noses at her.

zebraZ · 26/06/2005 18:23

That's diferent, Hannah, at least with the 2yo, esp. if it's a "young" 2yo, I wouldn't want them to have the chance to run out to the road, either (and many people would agree with you on the 4yo getting out there, too).

What do you do if the kids have a video on when you need to run to the loo, don't they have conniptions about having to leave the movie just to accompany you while you have a wee? Cor, my kids either A) wouldn't cooperate or B) would howl the place down.

jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 18:28

i leave jess playing downstairs safe in the knowledge she cant get up the stairs (stairgates) and the doors are locked. I also NEVER shut the bathroom door. As i said, she only comes wiht me if i need a poo because it isnt as quick!

AnnieQ · 26/06/2005 18:47

I'm a little confused now, HannaBoo, because you're on another thread saying that your two dds are dogs, not daughters, and that you live with your mother who doesn't like leaving the house.

Do you actually have children? If you don't then you are not in a position to judge, and if you do, then surely they're not actually being left alone in the house if your mother is at home most of the time?

HannahBoo · 26/06/2005 18:49

If they're watching tv, thats different because I know they won't budge so i'll leave them, but if they're just playing with their regular toys and theres a chance they may get upto something while i'm gone to the loo they have to come with me.

2 yr old is a very young 2. He can't speak apart from 'mummy' 'daddy' 'yes' and 'no' and I know for a fact the moment my back is turned he'll be up to something he shouldnt! He's also got the power of spiderman! He can climb like no other! The other day I found he had climbed up to the kitchen sink, got a black permanant marker and drawn all over himself! 4 yr old is OK, but she would prob come and see where I was if I left the room anyway and I dont like them climbing the very steep stairs by themselves.

HappyHuggy · 26/06/2005 18:49

you're right annieQ

AnnieQ · 26/06/2005 18:52

In amongst some pretty explicit messages as well.

I'm not being funny, by the way - if I have the wrong end of the stick then I apologise. It just reads a little odd to me.

HannahBoo · 26/06/2005 18:54

I am HannahBoo, my babysitter, Annabel posted under this name other day about her problems with her mum and then let me have this name IYSWIM.

HappyHuggy · 26/06/2005 18:54

i remember the thread now though. is she the one whos mom wasnts to go and meet her internet lover?

AnnieQ · 26/06/2005 18:56

She "let" you have the name?

If you expect to be taken seriously here, you shouldn't post with someone else's name.

HappyHuggy · 26/06/2005 19:00

its a good job im a believing person.....

AnnieQ · 26/06/2005 19:02

I'm not. There have been times when people have posted really malicious things using other people's names. It's also very confusing to other posters - if what you say is true, how are we meant to know which of you is which?

If you want to post, please get your own name. Otherwise people are going to suspect you of being a troll.

tamum · 26/06/2005 19:08

I'm with you, AnnieQ. On the same thread, this babysitter/mother-of-two/insert-what-you-will said this "I have lived away for most of my adult life because of the nature of my job and got paid accomodation in with all my jobs", which struck me at the time as a rather odd post from someone who said earlier in the thread that she was 21.

sparklymieow · 26/06/2005 19:10

mmmmmmm....... [confused emoticon]

AnnieQ · 26/06/2005 19:17

Hannaboo's posts on the other thread are in such a similar style to the ones on this thread that I find it very hard to believe they are two different posters.

And Hannaboo's sudden disappearance from this thread seems very suspicious, too.

jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 19:18

another troll... just what we need.

Caligula · 26/06/2005 19:22

There's a lot of it about.

prettyfly1 · 26/06/2005 19:30

been following this thread with much interest and just interested to know, what is a troll? is it like those horrible men who jump in to cause controversy insyead of taking the thread seriously?

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 19:34

wow - this thing is kicking off again (sorry been to church and only just got back).

HH - glad I make you laugh

"Do you all sleep with your eyes open aswell"

Of course I do fairyfly - and I've got a CCTV link to their bedroom - with the 'image' on my bedroom ceiling so I can watch them at all times

zebraz - you did make me giggle with your 4.58 post LOL

WWB - you don't need to be nice to me - I'll take it like a "man"

"and oh yea, if I didnt take my 2 to the bathroom with me, they would probably come up to fond me anyway, thus climbing 2 flights of stairs in process and probably mucking around on the stairs too which is very dangerous!"

Well in that case I recommend some stairgates - keeps them 'safe' in the place you want them to stay

"QOQ isn't stupid" - nah I'm just a dumb blonde

"The other day I found he had climbed up to the kitchen sink, got a black permanant marker and drawn all over himself! "

Definitely recommen a stairgate at the kitchen door - we've got one, means that they can't get into the kitchen if I've popped upstairs for something, or if I'm cooking the dinner.

Darn - just read the rest of the posts and seen I'm debating with a troll.........no wonder her responses weren't so reasoned as the rest of you who disagree with my decision

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 26/06/2005 19:38

Being nice to you, QOQ? Perish the thought

nannynick · 26/06/2005 19:41

If the child was mine, rather than a child I was nannying, then it would depend on how far the school actually was. Used to live next to a school in a small village some time back, so if say that was the situation, then I'd probably leave baby asleep, take baby monitor and do the drop off at school.

It's all about assessing the risk, which if its say 2 minutes being out of home, then it's a risk I would take, if it were my own child. However as a nanny, I wouldn't take the risk, as it isn't my own child.

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 19:41

yes hate to disappoint you WWB - you've been very civil (is that a better word than 'nice' ) towards me.
