New thread.

May our nights be dry, our days free of wicking, and may growth spurts coincide with lovely new fluffy product releases. Hurrah!

Ah tree, been thinking of you!

I really do not like Itti AIOs - puffy, wing-droopy things and I really wanted to love them. Now DS3 fits in both medium and large I am back in love with snap-in Ittis though.

mumface · 08/11/2009 15:17

I love Itti AIO's!! More stretchy and softer than the snap ins. I like them both as much, but I think snap-ins are more are slightly more reliable.
Went in town yesterday and a big toy store has opened up a large nursery department and I asked if they did any cloth nappies. So the lady says not yet, we are thinking of stoking Bambino Mio, what do you you use?..
Anyway 30 mins later she wanted details of where to get Itti's & monkeyfoot bags!!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 17:08

Octo, I'm lolling at your blog saying testament to your hard work that the products you stock are selling really well...Should that not be thanks to MN???

Worried about the bumble He is really wheezy. Had him at the OOH docs earlier for a pin prick rash on his bottom (which doc said was nappy rash, but like nothing I've witnessed over the course of three babaies ) and he said he was more worried about his chest, listened to him, proclaimed it "more than likely" to be bronchiolitis and to give him fluids, calpol and take him back to my own GP in the morning. Thread on here is saying take him to A&E, but not sure he is ill enough iyswim? His breathing is a bit faster and you can see his muscles working, but he seems well enough in himself. He has a cold and has been miserable, but seems fine now, although it might be the calpol masking his misery iyswim.

bloody doctor lectured me on not cleaning him properly as well and said modern disposable nappies (he was in a sposie) give parents the illusion they don't need to clean the whole nappy area properly...I raised myself up to my full 5'2" and bristled at him about using real nappies and making sure I cleaned the whole area every time .

dilemma.

MrBabyBots · 08/11/2009 19:39

Daisy - Take him to the hospital, GP's although well educated are only really versed in handing out sick notes, anti depressants and paracetamol. For a proper diagnosis you really should see a paediatrician, if not to make sure LO is ok, but it will set your mind at ease as well.

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 08/11/2009 19:42

Caen - Hello! The wool Longies are special trousers that also act as a wrap for cloth nappies. They are made of pure wool which is why they arn't that cheap, although the ones on my site are made fairly cheaply compared to some of the others around. Basically the wool acts as a waterproof layer and needs to be treated with lanolin once in a while, usually once or twice a month depending on how often you use them. But they need to be handwashed but only once in a while too. Basically as wool is antibactiral it is sort of "self cleaning" to a certain extent and all you need to do is hang them to air out in between uses. When they start to smell even after airing, thats when they need a wash. They are brilliant inventions really! We have loads of pairs now and my girls wear them pretty much all the time. It makes 2 parters less bulky as you don't need to use a wrap. And for Pocket nappies, it is an exra measure against leaks and the longies then hardly ever need washing with pockets as they don't have any wee against them except if it leaks. The wool lets the moisture in the nappy evaporate so it lasts longer. It can also absorb about 1/3 of its wait in liquid before it even feels damp.

Sorry, I love wool!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 19:51

lol jenny . I had never thought of using wool over pocket nappies to make them last all night! Will try it; if I ever get my longies finished that is . I'm stuck knitting scarves for everyone's Christmas pressies at the minute!

MrBots, he is in bed now, breathing much much easier, but has a sore throat and cries when he coughs . I'm going to take him to my rather experienced and lovely GP tomorrow who I trust implicitly as he always listens to what the patient or patient's parent has to say. I'm also going to sleep in with him tonight just to be closer to him should he have a bad night. He is eating and drinking well though (although he missed his bedtime feed as he fell asleep) and has no temperature so looking less ill than he did earlier.

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 08/11/2009 20:27

Daisy - I would take him to hospital too. The childrens wards are usually quite helpful IME. We have been in that situation many times where we are umming and arring about going but at the end of the day, its best to be sorry. I am sure he will be fine, but with little children they really need to be checked to be safe. Espeically with breathing funny.

KirstyJC · 08/11/2009 20:34

Hi Daisy, I lurk here and only occasionally post, but just felt I neeed to share: my DS2 (11.5 mo) had bronchiolitis last week - we took him into A&E even though he didn't seem ill, yet good job we did - he needed oxygen and they admitted him until the next day. He looked fine, wasn't seeming ill, no temperature etc etc but was breathing very fast and his chest was really going in far when he was breathing, it was really hard work for him.

They checked his sats and it was 88% - low enough to need oxygen and nurse said that if it had been that low for long enough it could have caused problems. He ended up with oxygen for the whole night until his sats got better.

Don't want to panic you, but seriously, take him to hospital. Once they check his oxygen levels they will let you know if you need him to stay in or not. Babies are very resiliant and don't always show when they are ill enough to need intervention.

4andnotout · 08/11/2009 20:35

Evening all, Daisy I hope ds feels better soon

Had bit of an accident this morning, I was rushing to get ready for rememberance parade and slipped in the shower, i fell completely over smashing my head, shoulder, back and bum in the process. Dp had to come and lift me up as I was completely dazed and confused, have a huge swollen lump on the back of my head behind my ear as well as bruises covering my entire back Im too scared to go back into the bathroom too which is just silly but it hurt so much and icant help thinking what would have happened if dp wasn't in?

Sorry to run on so much

caen · 08/11/2009 20:37

Thanks everyone :0

Now I want the fleece soakers. I think they're just the same as my TB fleece wrap but cuter?

I want some wool soakers too!! Why are the longies so, well, long? Do they need to have the legs on them? Do you put a vest over the top? Wouldn't a wool soaker do the same job?

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 20:42

4 . I hope you are going to get checked out! Sounds like you might have a bit of concussion...and watch out in a few days for signs of whiplash. Get some ice on your neck tonight if you can.

Thanks for all your concern, and hello Kirsty (we are a nice bunch on the November PN thread; you should come and say helloooo ). His breathing isn't that laboured and we have timed it at less than 40 breaths per minute which is the number to be worried at according to NHS website. I will get him checked out tomorrow I promise, but I really don't want to take him out of bed and to hospital at this time of night and year (long walk from car park to A&E) and I would have to go myself as DH needs to be here with the other two. We are keeping a very close eye on him though and if he gets any worse at all we will call an ambulance.

KirstyJC · 08/11/2009 20:53

Hi Daisy, he doesn't seem as bad as mine was, thankfully! (He was about 60-70 breaths per minute ). I ended up at A&E at 2pm last Sun night/Mon morning so I completely understand why you don't want to!!

Hope he feels better soon - mine recovered really quick and was back at nursery on Weds!

As far as the PN thread goes - I will check it out, thanks, but I really need to be doing MN LESS not more (and I read this thread several times a day!) I am back at work full time now and I just don't have the time.....not least 'cos every time I pop in here I end up buying more nappies!

My new fave nappy is the Itti all in one - got a blue and a red one and they are FAB! Lasted 5 hours today - mind you, he is a light wetter - thanks to DH he was in an unboosted cotton tots-bots with wool soaker for 14 hours overnight last night, and it still didn't leak!

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 08/11/2009 21:11

Oh no 4 dont be sorry.

4andnotout · 08/11/2009 21:17

Thanks everyone for listening, i have had to just get on with it today even though my nan was horrified that i haven't gone to a&e to be checked out, apparently i can cry to her when i wake up dead in the morning My head hasn't improved and it is very swollen and red apparently so i will pop in the doctors tommorow, luckily we only live next door so hopefully i can get in.

4andnotout · 08/11/2009 21:18

can't cry to her

Octothebaglady · 08/11/2009 23:14

oh no 4 - hope you are okay - def go and get checked out - get some arnica tablets/cream if you don't already have some as will help with the bruising.

Ds3 has been into paeds twice for suspected bronchilitis - we have always come home but theer always otehrs there at same time they keep in.

Daisy - 5 years of hard work also helps! MN nappy thread have been brilliant tho and lovely to chat on here about new ideas. I feel I could be a really good blogger!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/11/2009 23:34

lol Octo, I'm just being cheeky ....obviously we are not your only customers!

Octothebaglady · 08/11/2009 23:40

lol daisy - get lots of referrals through mn though and there is def a monkeyfoot brigade marching across the UK! Lollipop are about to take stock which is fab news.

Scarybots · 09/11/2009 10:13

Morning all!

Daisy i hope Ds is ok, i was told with Our DS 1 he was fine by my doctor and it was me with the problem not him! he turned out to have surposed bronchilitus (cant spell it) which on further investigation turned out to be a very serious heart defect. Babies are indeed good at hiding when they are very bad! Hence i dont trust doctors - go with your instinct.

4 i hope your ok also!

Talking of doctors im off there today with Ds! lol

Oh Octo I've joined the monkey foot brigade i own 3 in total now! lol

Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 10:47

Let me guess scary - zazu, jungle jam & flybyday???

No children today - total silence - bliss!
