HOW MANY PUSHCHAIRS/PRAMS DO YOU OWN?

I'm just wondering, how many pushchairs/prams does the average parent own?

Vintage Silver Cross for newborn.
Nipper 360 Double atp for newborn and toddler.
Micralite Fstfold for toddler on buses.
Jane Powertwin tandem double, though I hate it.
Land Rover atp for off-roading.
I still need to buy a Buzz Wagtail, cos' I like the colours...
Some cheap, lightweight umbrella folding stroller to fit in nan's car.
Er,....

It's the same with a double though. I have had 7 or 8 doubles until I finally relented and got the p&t. You dont know if they are suitable for your needs until you have one.

BertieBotts · 23/09/2009 09:21

Just 2 - a Loola Up and an OBaby sport which I use if it's likely to need folding or we are going away etc.

Oh and a (non-swivel) 3-wheeled Graco thing I bought when pg which has never made it out of the loft I think I would probably be a pram hun if I had the space/money/could bear to sell the old ones on The best thing about the Loola Up IMO is the reversible seat pad, the novelty of having a "new" colour every 6 months!

I don't think people are being judgy btw, I just think they are shocked and a bit bemused! I was when I first heard of anyone having more than about 3 prams

glasgowlass · 23/09/2009 09:26

I have a silver cross sleepover deluxe for everyday use and a silver cross pop for taking to Glasgow city centre.

I have had four pushchairs, two singles and two doubles. Although in my defence I never had two singles or two doubles at the same time.

I also had two slings as I hated the Tomy one I bought initially, so took advice and got a Baby Bjorn which was fab.

Also had a backpack but never used it much.

We are TTC No3, and I will get by on the bare minimum if we are lucky enough to have another baby.

I have wasted so much money on stuff like this in the past...

allaboutme · 23/09/2009 09:27

cheesesarnie · 23/09/2009 09:34

1-poor deprived dc.

thehairybabysmum · 23/09/2009 09:54

i currently have 4 at home plus 1 at my mums:

chicco trio that is fab and have had since ds1 was born...my everyday buggy, it has a clip on carrycot so ive used it as a pram when both were little.

bertini pram....bought off ebay when ds2 born as it had a toddler seat on it for ds1. Still love it and use it often but just for ds2 now. It faces me and is a dream to push. Used to be good with a buggy board for ds1 as he stood inside the handle so i didnt have to walk funny.

These two live in the kitchen and get used lots.

i also have a silvercross double buggy int he loft..bought when ds2 could sit up as you cant use the toddler seat then, didnt use it for long though so its in the loft.

i have an amazing buggy for holidays that folds down into a rucksack and is small enough to have as a carry on bag so this is used for holidays.

I also have a cheapo buggy at my mums.

i also bought a first wheels double 3 wheeler, with carrycot before ds2 was born but sold this as i much preferred the bertini.

My DH thinks im bonkers, but i can justify all of them!!

flowerybeanbag · 23/09/2009 09:58

I find this all astonishing!

We have a Quinny Zapp for DS.

We have a Quinny Buzz that we used for DS when he was smaller and is now for sale. It's been used by my SIL for the last year so we've only had one during that time.

We have a new Phil and Teds Vibe for use when DS2 arrives in 6 weeks.

Jumente · 23/09/2009 10:16

The ones I've got now are mainly in storage in case of another baby...one day!

We have in regular use one maclaren (in the car for when we drive somewhere/shops/supermarket/outings)

and one mountain buggy.

There is a slightly knackered easylife sport which I used to push both kids in, but now rarely use as it is so heavy and has a flat tyre. That was from ebay.

There are two emmaljungas from ebay, in the cellar - managed to get two slightly duff ones before a decent one, sold one...still got two in bits! Very strong decent baby pram up to about 1yo so worth keeping as they're 500 odd new.

One Jane nomad, also in cellar, has carrycot for use in back of car (but unsure on safety of that so might sell it)

The other two were ebay bargains, bought for the sheer love of them! A Gesslein pram and a Teutonia. Every time I think of selling them I look at them and can't do it.

Stupid, but they are just so beautifully made, almost works of art.

Ok I am a freak

Jumente · 23/09/2009 10:17

..I hasten to add I did use both!!

I have two. A maclaren techno XT which I bought as birth to whatever just before DS1 was born. It was and is bloody annoying. I bought a phil and ted's when pregnant with DS2 and liked it a lot better. I also used a lot of different slings.

DS2 is 3.4 and I was about to get rid of one of the pushchairs as we hadn't used them for more than six weeks. Then the second week back at school he was asleep for the school run three times as he wasn't very well. Hey ho. Had better keep them gathering dust for another six months.

essexgirl31 · 23/09/2009 10:38

Wow!
This thread makes me feel better.

I currently have 4 Bugaboo cameleon (as a
pram for 15 week DS 2 to sleep in. Also used when I'm walking short distances with 25 month old DS 1. Will get a buggy board for this when DS1 a bit older and out of terrible twos). I love this pushchair and wish they did a double version.

I have a p&t sport set up for baby and toddler. Also love this though a pain to put in car for short trips. Used everyday as I walk a lot.

A single maclaren quest. Also used for either DS depending on circs.

A maclaren twin truimph (in boot of car. Used when I'm using car)

. They are all used though. Think they all cover all situations!!

thehairybabysmum · 23/09/2009 10:45

So flowery, you find this astonishing but in actual fact have 3 !!

I think this thread shows that there is no such as the perfect pram as a lot of us seem to have different ones for different purposes, and thats before we even talk about doubles!!

bamboobutton · 23/09/2009 10:47

i have 3.

1 silvercross 3d(stored in the attic)

1 obaby, used daily.

1 bruin, kept at GPs so we don't take all the boot space up with a pushchair when visiting.

jeee · 23/09/2009 10:49

Over the years I have found that if you leave 2 pushchairs in a dark room they breed.

flowerybeanbag · 23/09/2009 10:51

at hairybabysmum

Well yes, I do have 3, but only because we are in the process of getting rid of one and have already bought the replacement....

imaginestrictlytwirlynamehere · 23/09/2009 10:56

2, bugaboo chameleon - used daily, 2nd hand very rubbish umbrella fold, only acquired as dd1 was still having a nap outside in her pushchair when I had to turn the bugaboo back into a pram because dd2's arrival was imminent.

Main downside of bugaboo is that pushchair & pram can't be swapped backwards & forwards because they use the same frame.

thehairybabysmum · 23/09/2009 11:05

you sound like me, thats how it starts you know!! Wait til you have 2....i can recommend the bertini...better than a P&T you know...go on have a look here

not the best pic but the seat clips on top of the pram. Ds1 loved it as he was nice and high up.

reallywoundup · 23/09/2009 11:13

atm?
Bug frog,
bebcar stylo,
Mutsy urban rider,
Quicksmart easyfold.

nappyaddict · 23/09/2009 12:21

6 now I've just got rid of one at the charity shop and sold 2.

whyme2 · 23/09/2009 12:37

I have 4,
a P & T
a Hauck Infinity,
a borrowed buggy with no hood
and a 3 wheeler which is one its way out.

Dh and myself were just arguing discussing the necessary number of pushchairs and he said surely you can only use one at a time.
Then I had to go in to the lecture about why I needed the current 4 I have at the moment. ( although 2 are on ebay at the moment ) and why I was watching 4 on ebay.

I need to show dh this to show him my hobby is valid.

whyme2 · 23/09/2009 12:39

Oh, and the total of previously owned buggies is 8. (have 4 children though, as if this justifies the use of ten pushchairs).

bumpsoon · 23/09/2009 12:54

Well i have four ,but am going to whittle it down to 3
landrover for off road and hols
maclaren xt for short town trips
M&P bouncy chassis for newborn /day napping/normal walking /school run

the one im getting rid of is the m&p pramette .
To be fair though i have bought all these second hand and only cost me £230 in total .
