natty - they're a pocket, so you can make
them as absorbent as you like. They don't come with an insert, I've got millions cos I use pockets a lot so it wasn't a problem but if you're not pocket person you'll need to buy some inserts too. For overnight with DS1 I used a bamboo prefold, with one of those microfibre cloths that you get from poundland wrapped around it as an extra layer without the bulk.

They have stretchy sides, made out of a kind of shiny, stretchy lycra stuff, so they come up and down fairly easily, but also have poppers in case you need to get them off carefully with a poo accident (I also use them if someone has the runs as a catcher of any little incidents!)

If you do buy new, don't get one of the minki supersoakers as an insert - thought they sounded great but I reckon they're useless!Don't soak up nearly as much as bamboo or microfibre.

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 15:17

ok baron great. we are pockets people (well we are anything goes people really) i have loads of inserts.
just convinced DH that we need three, as my dd would like to potty train and still has the odd accident so could put her in them for the random days she has accidents (she can be dry for a week then have 3 accidents in 2 hours )

must go, little man crying he prob needs changing and more (as ever) boobie!

Baron, thanks for the offer - not sure if medium will fit ds though. He's 6 months and about 17-18lbs.

My favourite wool wrap ever is the purple one of these. Beautiful slim fit, lovely over a BBH bamboo. Pure pleasure. Hard to come by though.

swampster · 24/07/2009 19:26

Tell her you need to Mumsnet, tree!

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 19:36

i neeeeed wool too.. i am hooked.
although i dunno why we had compression dampness this morning.
does anyone know if i can use the landolin nipple stuff (purple tube) to landonise wool? just as a one off until i wait for funds to order some proper stuff.

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 19:37

rusmum · 24/07/2009 19:37

never tried wool. where do i start?? like idea for night and summer (if it stops raining!)

swampster · 24/07/2009 20:06

I think most American nappies haven't been making it across the pond since the exchange rate got so crappy, so, no. Sugar Peas fleece wraps are scrummy too.

But you can use Lansinoh to lanolise - dissolve blob in very hot water - I think a tiny bit of wool shampoo helps to stop it just going hard in the water again as it cools. Add cold water or let it cool...

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 20:13

poo
oh well a disana in every size and colour then..

OP posts:
rusmum · 24/07/2009 20:39

disana recommended??????? and if so where best buy??

mumface · 24/07/2009 20:42

Natty I have 3 minki yoyo's if you are interested. They are mint condition. Have been used for about one day. They are animal print fleece zebra, leopard &tiger size large.
You can have all 3 for £15 posted if you are interested. Have never sold any nappies b4 though don't have paypal.

swampster · 24/07/2009 20:56

If natty doesn't want them I could do with some yo-yos - would large fit a 15kg 3-year-old?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 24/07/2009 20:56

natty: your little boy looks really cute in the woolies! I'm not sure why you would have had dampness. Was he wearing clothes over them? I find that you really have to have very loose fitting clothes if you're wearing clothing over wool. Clement usually just wears a shirt with his woolies at night, and never any problems - though sometimes bed feels a bit clammy in the morning where he was for 8+ hours - but never any actual leaks. Also, if a bit of nappy gets exposed in the back, or bit of clothing tucks inside the wool then some moisture might escape. But I wouldn't have thought they'd need any lanolising - they've not been used since last lanolised. But always worth trying if you have any futher problems.

btw, I thought everyone stopped talking nappies when the thread went dead! didn't realise post count was up!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 24/07/2009 21:00

rusmum: Go to Twinkle on the Web for Disana woolies - good price and if it's your first order there, you get free postage! And they have them in several colours too! But you'll probably want to buy XL, since they felt and shrink quite a bit. And will need a machine wash (wool setting) to get them felted properly for waterproof, as well as about 3 lanolisings before night use. But you can use them during the day as shorts between the lanolisings, as it helps them get ready faster. But they're fab and very easy to use for beginners. We've got 3 pairs here and that's all I use on Benjamin!

JennyPenny22 · 24/07/2009 21:02

Natty - that nipple cream is 100% lanlin so it is absolutly perfect for woolies!

Rusmum - how old is your DD again? I have a couple of woolies I am THINKING of selling so might suit your DD.

Tree - My paypal is [email protected] say £4?

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 21:16

mumface yes please all three. but without paypal how do i pay you?

mumface · 24/07/2009 21:25

Swampster My DS is 2.4 yrs, 29lb & the large standard yoyos fit fine,I think the website recommends the XL for 3yr+ .I also have a slinki yoyo also as new in periwinkle blue large. That is too small in rise for him he gets severe builders bum(fine on the waist tho)

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 21:26

rachel he went to bed in what he was wearing for that pic. litrally the long sleeved top and the shorts.

hes going to bed in fleece tonight so we will see how that goes. (just a tshirt again) its really hot in my bed room at night atm (22-23) so am hoping to get the fleece working quickly to make do until i get to grips with wool.

im going to landonise those disana shorts just in case it needs it.
not sure why they were damp, he was fine at 3am, and by 6am his sheets were damp.
im sure i will crack it!
im going to order the next size up as they are a good fit atm, but it wont be long before they are too small.

i have spent to much on fluff this week, but with a newborn its so much more tempting.

OP posts:
swampster · 24/07/2009 21:31

Thanks mumface. I was looking at the website earlier and it says XL for 3-7 years which seems like a waaaaaaaay big range to cover. And he's fairly skinny so I thought maybe L. Or maybe L would be to tight... It seems a bit weirdy as the majority of yoyo customers are probably around 3 years old but that's the age where either they will be too tight to go up and down or they will fall off them.

TheNatty · 24/07/2009 21:32

swampster if u ordered them new u could return them if they are to small?

OP posts:
mumface · 24/07/2009 21:48

JennyPenny22 · 24/07/2009 21:54

Does anybody know. DO you get a "perminant cart" at either WeeNotions or bibs and bots? Ie put some things in your basket and then come back to it a few days later and it still be there?
