They are going to a safari park.

I am sure he will be fine.

Just a teeny bit worried though! Very pfb of me.

He tends to get very over excited. I hope he behaves himself. I bet he will be in the teachers group.. lol

Have visions of his lunch being hot and mushed up (has to go in a plastic bag and aparantly all the plastic bags get dumped in a black sack till lunchtime). Or him being all hot and tired. Or him running off ahead and getting into trouble.

These are all silly worries as he is always very good at school and with other people. And us Just excitable.

And I hope he isn't sad or worried. He is sensitive , bless him. Usually takes a snuggly on play dates etc. But wont be possible on trip.

I do have a the mobile number of one of the mum helpers. I will text her all day long maybe once.

dd had a sports event today and left her sun hat behind
i was worried and contemplated dropping it off.
she is 9,
meaning, you never stop worrying.

When my dd was a baby I asked my mother when you stopped worrying about your children. She said that she didn't know - she'd only been a mother for 53 years!

oh I will be a wreck when DS takes this step. You're doing well!

DD has her first trip with pre-school next week and already I'm having sleepless nights.

WWhat if she doesn't have enough to eat? Or falls over and needs me? Or gets bitten by a pig?

It makes me feel all tearful and pathetic.

I am also slightly paniked that he'll get ill between now and then and will have to miss it. He'd be devastated.
He was off last week for d+v bug.

Oh and I feel sad for him that they are not going to the gift shop. He loves that bit.

He was smiling I didn't cry. He is in a group with a very sensible, nice little boy and his calm mother.

He was a bit nervous I think. He didn't finish his breakfast. He said he wanted to make sure he wasn't too full for his packed lunch!
I cut his sandwiches into cat, bunny and butterfly shapes on his request!!

But I have thought of some new worries. What if the coach has an accident? I am more worried about that now than anything else.

Where are they going - I think you're near me (we're in Bedfordshire). DS went on his first school trip last year to Paradise Wildlife Park and had a great time.

He will be fine!

My DS2 is off to Marwell tomorrow - his first school trip too. I am worried he will get ill and not be able to go as well - several of his friends have been off this week. He would be gutted - he has been looking forward to it for so long and zoos are absolutely his favourite thing in the world. Just goes to show what a worrier I am that I am already planning when we could take him ourselves if this happens.

At least your DS should have decent weather - it is supposed to be hot and showery tomorrow. Poor little things will have to take their raincoats - one more thing to carry.

I could go on with a whole list of silly worries but I am pretty sure they will all be fine and have a great time. I still remember my first school trip - it is a rite of passage and great fun.

Not long until they'll be back though.

I have helped on what feels like thousands of trips and they have never lost a child yet.

Once a boy fell into a pond while pond-dipping, and once a bunch of boys did get temporarily lost while orienteering, but we've always returned with the same number we started with. So panic not - he will have a lovely day.

NB - this is from the woman who gets slightly hysterical when she hasn't heard from her 22 year old for a few days .

He hasn't done a poo this morning either....

That is the sort of thing I worry about too. Ridiculous really as he is quite capable of handling it himself.

I also worry that he will drink all his drink 5 minutes of arriving and be thirst all day.

And that he won't wash his hands before he has his sandwiches when I know how the hand rails round the exhibits have bird poo on them and small boys don't think about that stuff, do they!?

Sorry, I am just winding us both us now, I shouldn't wonder.

We were told to put in 2 drinks. 1 for when they get there and 1 for lunch. I put in 3!

Anyway, got a text from a mum helper at about 10.30 saying that they've arrived safely One half of one of the worries over...

I had thought about putting extra drinks in and then I thought he has to carry them all day and it would be too heavy for him, quite forgetting of course, that he would have drunk them when he arrived and so wouldn't need to carry them.

Worrying just isn't logical, is it?

ds doesn't have to carry his lunch, the helper has them all in a black sack and they leave them somewhere....!!

He had a fantastic time!

They got back safely at normal home time.

He ate all his lunch, in 2 stages. They started eating, then had to rush to the Sealion show, then ate the rest of it after.

He said he saw Lions, Giraffes, Antelopes, Penguins, Zebras, Tigers, monkeys, Ostriches, Wolves and bears etc and had a ride on an open topped bus.

He got to sit at the top of the coach on both journeys too so that added to the fun!

After I collected him we had to go to the dentist for 4pm so he is very worn out!

Dd and I had a nursery picnic, midwife appointment and a pre school injection aswell.
I am pretty tired now...

Glad it went well. Sounds like he had a lovely time. I envy him the open top bus ride - nothing like that at Marwell, just a little train thing which isn't very exciting.

I am told a zoo keeper is going to talk to DS2 and his class mates tomorrow and that they are having lunch next to the zebras! He is hoping the zoo keeper will let him stroke a meerkat! He looked less than chuffed when I said that it wasn't likely and that he wouldn't be able to see as many animals as he sees when we take him because they will have a shorter day.

It has helped a bit because otherwise we have to find other ways of containing the excitement before he explodes with it all!
