Would you deliberately not have another (2nd) baby if you any had 2 bedrooms?

We have a 14 month old dd and are ttc#2 (will probably take a while, dd took 2 years due to PCOS).

Trouble is we have just moved into a 2 bed house which we buy next March, we are planning to convert the loft when we can afford it.

Baby would obviously be in with us to begin with.

But it will probably mean that at some point dcs are going to have to share, probably more of an issue if dc2 turned out to be a boy.

Would this bother you? That new baby didn't have their own room? I was so excited about decorating dd's nursery first time round.

Would not bother me. DS is still in our bed (3.2) and DD (1.2) is in a cot in with us as well. We do have enough space for them to have a bedroom each, but neither of them are bothered! We have decorated a room for DS, but not for DD yet. Children like sharing rooms anyway - more of an issue for teenagers - I don't think it would be ideal for a boy and girl to share in their teens - but anyway, prob by then you would have converted the loft!

No, the number of bedrooms I had/have, would not determine whether I brought another child into the world.

My children share - 8 and 6 - boy and girl. Loft conversion for another room by the time DS is 11.

My friend has three children sharing one room and they're all perfectly fine!

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Although both our DS's have their own room. DS1 (6yo) loves it when people come to stay because he gets to share with his brother (13 mnths). Also, they seem to sleep better when they're both in together. If your DC2 turns out to be a boy then I guess you'll just have to convert the loft quicker than you planned

i think there are bigger reasons not to have more children than whether they will have their own room. i shared with my sister up until about age 10 IIRC. my DCs have a room each, but DD always wants to go in with DS

NO, it would NEVER affect y decisio to have another baby which is infinitely more important.
A bedroom each is a luxury, not a necessity. People did, and still do, manage with a lot less.

We have 3 bedrooms and 3 children. Dh and I have one, Dd1 (9) has her own room and ds (7) and dd2 (5) share. For now it is great, apart from the mess!

We're about to move into a 2 bed house and we're planning on a 3rd baby! We will have to extend at the back in the next year or so but we have two boys and they can share when DS is old enough to sleep through (currently they are nearly 3 and 9m.) We wondered if we were being insane but the garden is massive and to me that's more important than space inside. Agree it is a modern luxury to have your own room.

I have 3 bedrooms, 2 children. The children share because they like it, I like it, and I like having a spare room. They are a girl and a boy so I anticipate them wanting separate rooms in 2-3 years.

I shared with my younger sister until I was 13. I really wanted my own room at that point but she was upset when I moved into the spare room (she was 11).

I have 3dc and 2 bedrooms, and a DH. We all squeeze in!

It's normal to share a room IMO.

We have a 2 bed cottage and 2 dc, dd's 2 and ds is 10 months, he's still in with us but they will share. I never saw this as a problem when planning baby no.2. actually my dd is very excited about her brother sharing her room.

I loved sharing with my brother when I was small. We shared until I was about seven or eight, I think.

would not bother me and in fact did not bother me as I have 2 babies in a 2 bed flat.

The baby is in with us (and will be until he sleeps through which will be about the age of 12 at this rate) but after that they will go in together/

In fact they are both boys but wouldn't have had the slightest hesitation in putting a boy and a girl in the same room - why would you? They will probably sleep better and be more companionable in together anyway.

In fact my friend, who has a 3 bed house, has just moved her 12 month old DS in with her 3 year old DD because she felt they would enjoy sharing and she fancied a study

Another one here with 2 dc and 2 bedrooms.

DS is nearly 1yo and still in with us.

When we have the energy we will swap the rooms round and put DD (4.10) and DS in together.

DD can't wait to share a room with her little brother.

We have 2 beds and are expecting DC2. The baby will sleep in our room until 6 months or so, then probably move in with DD. Her room is small, so we'll have to move her toys out into a cupboard in the sitting room, but that's fine as she never plays in her room anyway.

When I was a child my brother, mum, dad and I slept in one room on two double beds pushed together until I was about 4 (DB was 6) - and that was a 2 bed house! Apparently we slept better that way...

We're not TTCing as we've only got two bedrooms. DS is not the best sleeper and can't imagine he'd do well if he had to share a room! He was out of our room by 7 weeks as he out-grew the Moses basket and there's not space for a cot in there, and we didn't want to co-sleep for a variety of reasons, so I imagine that any new baby would be out of our room fairly early on too.

Has anyone put a small baby into a room with a toddler? How does it work out?

I've occasionally had baby in our bedroom for first part of the night, then after the dream-feed (which is when we'd be going to bed) I put him to sleep in the lounge.

I think it's fine for children to share until they hit puberty. After that, if you still only have two rooms, might be time for parents to move into a sofa bed in the lounge.

We have 2 bedrooms and are ttc #2 and plan on staying here. If we end up with 3 we may not move for a while either.

I shared a room with my sis till I was 20, never gave it a second thought then or now for my kid/s! Altough when I left home I did feel lonely in a room alone, and when I got married my only child dh had to get used to the fact I needed a laugh and a chat every night before I went to sleep because it was what I was used to!

slightly o/t but is there a law against a brother and sister sharing past the age of about 8(ish)? I vaguely remember that's why we moved house when I was about that age...
