oops - can't believe that post is at the top of a page, i've definitely had too much tia maria & coke (it's my lie-in tomorrow)!

treedelivery · 15/05/2009 23:22

ok yes that trumps my stretch marks.

You know that could all be sorted out fairly easily...

twoclimbingboys · 15/05/2009 23:27

The stitches went 'upwards' & 'downwards' - this is on the 'upwards' area iykwim? Having those stitches done was literally worse than the birth - with a local and gas & air, so I am reluctant to go through it again or show my dr! Although the midwives at DS2s birth were fairly taken aback I think.

TCB - Have you seen a doctor about it? At least nobody other than you and your DP(?) will see/know about it unless you choose to tell people.

I hate it. I didn't go into detail before but as we are doing this - my stretch marks go from my calves, pretty much right up to by belly button. In fact - I have silvery ones on my boobs so I think I can actually say I have them everwhere except my head, arms and feet .

Some of them, especially the ones at the top of my tighs are sooo bad - you can actually feel them very clearly by running your finger accross them. Really deep. A couple of years ago (when they were actually no where near as bad) my mum saw me getting changed and said "Oh my god, what have you done to your legs?!?!?!" When I said they were stretch marks, she didn't believe me (Depsite having them faily bad herself) because they are just so noticable and deep

JennyPenny22 · 15/05/2009 23:36

sorry x post there.

Speaking of stitches etc - my SIL recons she was stitched up too much. I have no idea if this is possible etc but she is wanting to get medical help. But she said she hasn't been able to have sex since her DS was born a year ago. She said they have tried many times, but it is like the hole is too small?!

twoclimbingboys · 15/05/2009 23:39

Jenny - loads of people have told me that bio oil works even once they are already there, to reduce them. I tried very briefly, but not for very long.

Mums can be ruthless without meaning to. I suppose I do have droopy boobs but have never moaned about them - I just think they can be hidden in a bra. My mum saw me getting changed recently and offered to pay for an uplift! Charming, but I did have to laugh - she meant well.

treedelivery · 15/05/2009 23:41

GP wouldn't even have to look really, maybe have a quick glance. You would see a gyne and obs person, who would do nothing without painrelief. I worked in the perineal trauma clinic for a good while and trust me, seen it all before. You don't have to live with it, and can have it repaired any time you choose. That would involve your choice of painrelief, and a few sutures. Honest guv.

I can feel the bumps in my stretch marks. Like the grand canyon in fact. And they never fade out as I am so pale as to be blue, so they are always red.pink. Yak.

TheNatty · 15/05/2009 23:41

yes jenny that happened to me with DD, ive not bothered to have it sorted as we CAN still have sex, (just - tmi but feels like the first time everytime iuswim) and im having another one so i will tear again, and be restiched so pah whats the point having it looked at?

OP posts:
twoclimbingboys · 15/05/2009 23:41

x post again sorry Jenny. Your poor SIL has she spoken to her GP about it?

TheNatty · 15/05/2009 23:44

tree i have the same thing you know, where im so pale that the stretch marks always look pinker.
my stretch marks go in so many directions and crisscross so much my belly looks like knitting.. so many lines!

OP posts:
treedelivery · 15/05/2009 23:45

Now Natty - were I you, and I'm not, but if I had a degree of perineal damage like you suggest, I'd ask for a plan for the management of the perineum at delivery. Ideas might be, wait and see, maybe episiotomy, but any suturing by experienced hands. For sure. All hands suturing should be good by definition, but is there is existing scar tissue I'd after the best around on the day.

I can ask for any of my posts to be deleted btw

treedelivery · 15/05/2009 23:46

Jenny - your SIL can def get help.

twoclimbingboys · 15/05/2009 23:48

thanks tree - that doesn't sound too bad. So that dept would do it even though they aren't perineal?

natty - it is worth mentioning to the midwife this time that the stitches were a problem last time? I did but didn't get damaged in the same place at all with DS2s birth.

twoclimbingboys · 15/05/2009 23:51

sorry natty x-post with tree - I must be far too slow at typing.
Tree - it is so handy having a midwife on this thread! It was a dr who made a real mess of mine as the midwives couldn't do it because of where it was.

twoclimbingboys · 15/05/2009 23:52

You don't need to get any deleted on my account - I just didn't want to make anyone blush so had the one from the top of the page removed!

treedelivery · 16/05/2009 00:07

2 - yes, it is all obs and gynae. You would be seen in a gynae clinic as the time has passed. Only offered to delete in case you were cringing. Get it looked at, truly. It'll be all sorted and that will be ace.

TheNatty · 16/05/2009 00:11

tree thats a good idea, i will bring it up with the midwife im seeing money about my many many labouring/birth issues..

atm i am leaning towards elective section anyway so i suppose it will need sorting, i also think im suffering with prolapse.. so im gonna need alot of work done

joy!

OP posts:
TheNatty · 16/05/2009 00:12

ok that was monday not money.. tho if she wants to hand out some nice wads of that i wont mind

OP posts:
treedelivery · 16/05/2009 00:14

Honestly it doesn't always work like that. Prolapse is often 'trained' back by a sort of training regime for your pelvic floor. So not surgery based.

You should discuss your options with a senior dr or a consultant as well as your midwife. To develop a suitable plan once you have come to an informed decision.

TheNatty · 16/05/2009 00:20

ah tree its all so complicated i will need to see a consultant anyway, im a VBACer with previous GBS who really wanted a homebirth as i have 2 hour labours...

ho hum

OP posts:
treedelivery · 16/05/2009 00:26

Hmmmm...get the follow up arranged for that repair then! Don't forget to mention this Natty

TheNatty · 16/05/2009 00:32

lol! i will write it all down else i will forget something.
im seeing the big chief midwife monday lol, 2 months i been waiting for this appointment

OP posts:
rusmum · 16/05/2009 06:16

natty- i had 3rd degree teas with dd1, millions of stitches and lost lots of blood. had a 'plan' for labour - basically they were going to cut me as a perventative measure! and was offered caesarian!

i gave birth on my own in 45 minutes with minimal grazing and 2 stitches!

treedelivery · 16/05/2009 12:17

Hurrah!

twoclimbingboys · 16/05/2009 12:50

Tree - thank you for all of your help. I will measure all of the xl nappies as soon as they are out the wash.

I have come to the sad decision to sell all of my ittis. They are all large - I have 2 royal blue, 2 turquoise and 1 rockmelon. They all come with a spare set of inserts each.
Blake is just too long and big bummed for them. He is too heavywetting for just the trifold now, but with both inserts he has an awful builders bum and poop leaks without fail. DH has finally lost patience and asked me to sell them and replace with boring wonderoos! So i'm off on the hunt for royal blue and orange wonderoos.
