state ur targets for the day ....

i need to do 1000 words to reach my target for today then if i dont do it i will be embarrassed and will have to admit it.

I know it seems a bit of a paltry amount compared to some of u, but i so struggle with getting critical analysis into the damn essay.

(FECK got to go shopping at some point today- can see excessive use of cursing thread coming up!)

Im studying health sciences at college at mo going on to study childrens nursing in sept.
Am really looking forward to it been waiting to do it since had the kids, had planned to wait to kids were a little older but patience is not my strongest strong virtue.

A weekend away sounds great actually might do that at the end of the course next month, would be a lovely treat. Thanks for idea.
Unfortunately having a few nites off is out of the question as have a 4500-5000 word ass due in on mon which will be starting as soon as finished this one. Musnt leave things to the last minute again!!!! hopefully lesson will be learned.
strugstu are you studying nurse prescribing?
Lillbet your ass sounds groovy(sixties) what are you studying?

Nearly finished, yayyyy!!!!

strugstu · 10/05/2005 16:53

Woo hoo

I have a groovy ass!!!!!

Not really started it yet, but my assignment question is

"How helpful is the concept of counter culture in understanding the changes that took place during the sixties? Discuss with reference to three of the following disciplines: History, History of Science, Religious Studies, Music and Art History."

aaarrgghhhhh

Can't imagine writing 4,000 words - my max so far is 2000, but I'm only on year one.

Lilibet that sounds like a cracker of an assignment. What you studying?

Thats my aim strugstu to become a hv, after ive been in nursing for alittle while.

Have you been out on placement with a hv?

200 or so more words to go and counting, time for cuppa.

foxd · 10/05/2005 21:12

Nearly there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just need to proof read and actually reference the bloody thing and do a bibliography. Then thats it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lilibet · 10/05/2005 21:39

Well done foxd!

I'm studying this

It's my first year of a six year gegree course.

When you are both Health Visitors you will be able to get a lease car - thats what I do for a living!! I'm a Lease Scheme Administrator for the NHS.

foxd · 10/05/2005 22:01

Brill, no were to come for the car then, any spare now?LOL. Whats the job like?
I'm speechless regarding your course. It looks really interesting and cultured, although I wouldn't want to tackle the ass involved if the questions are like the one you put down earlier.
What do you fancy doing when you complete?

strugstu · 11/05/2005 00:08

foxd- am out three days a week with hv and 2 in uni, i learn how not to be a hv (some arnt very good and some are fantastic ) there is so much too learn , so much about behaviour more than anything! (sos have been out for second night in a row, cant take more than 2 glasses of wine and i'm pissed! bloody students!!!!)

Don't know what I'm going to do in the future - I'm old (42) and I'm doing it more to prove that I can than to change jobs. And it's only in the past year that I've been with somone who would support me while I do i.

Lease Cars! Yes, I enjoy the job,and you are normally tied into a lease for three years, if you terminate it any earler than that you incurr penalties (One lady with me has just paid £700), it decreases with how long you have had the car - she was still in her first year. It is possible to buy the car form the leasing company but they are never cheap and the early termination fees are included in the price. If you're not going to stay for the full three years I wouldn't get one but at my trust (not sure if it apples to everywhere) if you get pregnant you can hand the car back without penalties! May be something to think about??
Well done foxd!!

foxd · 11/05/2005 20:48

Lilibet, 42 is certainly not old, and sorry to remind you but you have, 18-23 years of working life ahead of you; longer if you prefer to, so theres certainly a future in whatever you decide to do whether its to stay were you are or take your studies further.
My dh is supportive too although he's not impressed when I get extremely stressed and take it out on him. I finish course next month and extremely looking forward to having summer off and giving the kids all my attention for a change.

Can you get a lease car whilst a student?? We already have one but it gets tricky with organising pik ups and drop offs and havin to get kids out of bed due to late shifts. Am gonna get a little banger and bump the cover up with the RAC.[Grin]

lilibet · 11/05/2005 21:13

You have to be a regular user, which I don' think you would be. It means doing over 100 business miles per month and using your car at least three days a week on official journeys.

strugstu · 11/05/2005 23:24

lilbet- i am 18 in a 42 yr old body , ur never too old believe me, i started nurse training at 19 there is such a lot of opportunity and diversity. i think most employers in the nhs see the value of ur life experience.
This is the third time i've trained in the nhs within nursing( SEN, RGN and now training to be HV)
equally they like the enthusiasm of younger students, we all have something to offer.
god willing i still have another 20 years to work and feel that within the nhs there is always some new challenge around the corner.

strugstu · 11/05/2005 23:34

My target for tomorrow nite is 1000 words. I will do it. I must do it.!!!!
Having tonite off to unknot my shoulders after extremely stressful week.

My computer died a sudden death today despite the bashing my husband gave it trying to get it to work. Didn't get the laptop with bells on as promised myself but something that will certainly get me through studies. Have spent all day setting it up .
Going for a long soak in a bath of bubbles and aromatherapy oils.

foxd · 12/05/2005 20:28

Got the computer home to find it had no floppy disk drive, (all my stuff is saved on disk drive), so rang them up and was told computers aren't made with them any more and you have to buy microsoft office seperately! at £120 extra on top. I was told microsoft know that people are dependant on moffice so no longer include it in computers so you have to buy seperately and they make more money. Shocking!!!! anyway going for that bath now had a moan.
