the fits sound scary justkeep- hope it all turns out ok

Choatica- i have no idea how she's found the time either, but i can't be arsed to be her mate anymore. I think our friendship was pretty shallow anyway, so i'm not finding it hard to sever ties. If her DH was a horrible man, or she was actually in love with this other man and was going to upfront with her DH i wouldn't mind, but i just think she's being a t**t to be honest!

Had an absolutely awful weekend here- we all had this weird flu-like stomach bug which floored us. George came out of it the best, and Dyl the worst. It was pretty scary feeling so ill and having to struggle to take care of the boys. Almost all over it now thankfully.

And step MIL is having a consultation next week, and treatment very soon after. I asked if we could visit with the boys when she's in hospital and she seemed very happy about that. She's quite relaxed about it all, but she said FIL is more worried.

Anyway- off to make the first decent meal anyone here has had in days. (I've lost 2lbs though, so not all bad!)

Hello girls

God grrrl glad to hear the sickness bug is on it's way out - sounds horrendous!

We have had a lovely bank holiday weekend, went to a farm where young children can gently pet the baby animals (ok, ok. I think I liked that bit better than the girls)

Otherwise, just nice spending family time. Izzy is growing up so much right now, and her and Freya have their own little games they play - they play together really nicely.

Otherwise, getting freaked out by this cat that keeps appearing at the back door. I like cats, and it got in when we came back from the shops (and the girls love cats right now so no biggie) but then it did try and scratch one of the girls so I put it back outside (and each time I think if it, it appears as if my magic!) Freaky huh? ~~~Jewels glances surrepticiously around for fear of cat jumping out of somewhere~~~

[scared of strange cat emoticon]

JustKeepSwimming · 26/05/2009 15:44

Jewels - weird cat, slightly pmsl! our cats mostly run away from children, though they are relaxing a little now/getting more desperate for attention!

Grrl - glad you are all feeling better, yey for the 2lbs! my weight loss started in a similar way and i was too stubborn to let the 4 (i think) lbs i'd lost go back on.

Cute story time:
Henry crying at bedtime last night, leave him for a bit as he's obv knackered, listening on the monitor.
Hear Tom singing to him from his bed, 'go to sleep, go to sleep, it's been a long day...'

aww, was cute! and it worked no less! will tell T to do that again if H cries!

H doing better on 2nd drug, no big fits for a few days so nerves are feeling better. for now.

Both mine are early wakers- 6.30am is a lie in for us. I have no idea how we manage it really. Some nights we go up to bed before 9pm to get a head start on the buggers, but nothing we've tried has changed their pattern, so we've just accepted it for now.

Loopy - sympathies. my 2 are quite early risers too.
if we make it to 6 i count that as good.
we have had some later ones, 6.30 today!, but they are flukes.
i tend to go to bed mega early too. when i am disciplined enough.

have tried 2 types of clock so far - no luck. though gave one away to a friend and it worked for her dd.

sympathies with DH being away for so long, do you have lots of friends and family to help out?
my dh works away lots (not for so long though) and we have no family here, tend to invite other mums round to let the toddlers amuse each other - even if the house gets slightly trashed!

Chaotica · 27/05/2009 15:34

Afternoon, All

This talk of early waking is making me tired... Luckily, we managed to stave off DS's slide into the early dawn (he was getting earlier every day and grumpier too as he needed sleep) and put up a blackout curtain in the room he sleeps in. I also limit his naps in the day. It's never been a problem with DD (one of the reasons they don't share a room yet although DP and I want our bedroom back), in fact with dd I worry how we're ever going to get her up early enough to go to school...

JKS -- that song is just so cute. I think it's great having kids so close together as they relate to each other so well (even if that doesn't always mean things are peaceful). Glad to hear H is doing better - my fingers are crossed for you.

Jewels - I think that cat likes you

Hiya girlies and sympathies re the early waking. Honastly, mine do wake about 0630, but they just play in their rooms til I can be bothered to get up (around 0730) and, when I get in Freya's room, it is funny to see that her dolls are always in different clothes to the night before, and always in 'beds'. And this could mean snuggled up in the spare duvet in the big built in wardrobe both girls like to play in, or in their cots, or in Freya's bed, or in the nursing chair. With Izzy she is usually chucking her stuffed animals around and putting her dummies down her pajama top and then 'finding' them again. It is funny, their little ways.

The cat has not come back. Thank god. And it may like me, but with other peoples pets you never know how they liked to be stroked, or if they have had injuries. And after the cat attempted to claw Freya for no reason at all, I thought better put it outside. The thing is though, the girls LOVE cats right now. What should I do? We love cats too, do any of you have cats with your toddlers and how are they? (the cats and children)

Just watching the footie and chilling out. Have our summer ball the weekend after next, and just found out that most of the wives I usually hang around with are not going and am feeling like not going either.

We have a cat too (a 17 year old grumpy old puss) - she wasn't too bad with the DCs until they started to move. (But I suspect that they started to move in the first place so that they could chase her around.) Now she swipes and bites and claws occasionally (hence the 'grumpy' bit) but relations seem to be getting better at the moment (and DS is really gentle with her) [famous last words emoticon!].

OTOH my CM has cats and the DCs get on really well with them, especially the youngest cat.

BTW Loopy - I don't know how you manage without your DH around. You must be exhausted.

Chaotica · 27/05/2009 22:13

Grrrl - hope you're all feeling better.

We had an odd day around here - DD asked for a nap and then slept... And DS has a nasty cold (again) and has been practising his tantrums for when he's 2. I'm worried they're both going to be sick again. (Wanted to sort out something for the weekend as well.)

Wow Loopy, don't know how you manage for such long periods of time without DH! You must be supermum!

Hope you and the family are all better now Grrl. Sounded horrific.

Sympathies on the early wakings. My boys have suddenly improved now they are sharing a room, it's a miracle! At first they were waking horribly early but now they are used to each other they seem to wake after 6.30am and then just play and talk in their room, sometimes till almost 8!! Bliss! Long may it continue {kaybee desperately knocks on wood in case she has jinxed it}

DS1 (now 2.5) is getting into the swing of tantrums and everything is a major drama at the moment. He is addicted to a postman pat dvd we got from the library, and i had to renew it as he had a fit when i took it back!
DS2 is 13mo now, walking well and starting to talk. His favourite word is Zak (DS1) - so sweet He loves his big brother.

DH is out at a poker game so I am enjoying some time to myself tonight - don't get much of that with Dh still out of work so both of us floating around here all the time. MIL is really stressing out about us and is desperate for us to come back to UK where she for some reason thinks DH will be able to find a job, but who knows. Think we have to give it a bit longer here. We are both looking so hopefully something will come up for one of us soon (would rather it was DH though)

GoodGrrrlGoneBad · 29/05/2009 09:56

Dyl is still ill- this is his 6th day of vomiting et al. He's been absolutely hysterical this morning, so i'm taking back to doctors this morning.

I'm so exhausted i'm ashamed to say i've been screaming this morning. I feel like a s**t mother sometimes.

The house and carpets reek of sick, and the washing machine is constantly on. I don't know where to start with cleaning. I've started washing his things with disinfectant now aswell.

OP posts:
Kaybeeand2boys · 29/05/2009 10:00

Oh Grrl, poor you and Dyl, good idea going back to the doctor, hope they can help

Jewelsandgems · 29/05/2009 13:52

Well grrrl Izzy was sick all last night - and she is never ill - so I was a bit freaked out. I kept going in to check on her all night, and the result is I am very tired.

When we did out her back in bed she wanted her normal blankets and could not understand wwhy she couldn't have them - explaining to your little one that her blankets are covered in sick is not easy! She kept attempting to sniff replacement blankets and was tossing them aside as if to say 'what the hell is this?' I felt so sorry for her. She was so hot aswell - a really high fever. So you think it could just be teeth? Or a bug?

tracyface · 29/05/2009 17:49

hi everyone - sorry to hear some of you have nasty sick bugs - I hope they soon pass.

We have been away camping in West Wittering and it was lovely. Went with four other families so lots of other people to share my children with.

Weather was quite good and poor Isaac caught the sun and was sick so ended up tying his hat on with ribbon after that even though he looked like he was wearing an easter bonnet. Its so hard to get a fifteen month old to keep it on.

Dont know if it was the sun that made him sick or licking salty pebbles on the beach?

Melissa is much more sensible and keeps hers on most of the time.

Isaac is suffering with his teeth at the moment he only has his two bottom teeth at the bottom yet he is getting his molars top and bottom - how strange is that?

He also seems to be a bit allergic to grass as his excaema has flared up and his eyes are really sore but piriton seems to help. Bit Hard stopping him crawling on the grass - i wish he would get up and walk as there are still no signs of him attempting to any time soon. He can stand on his own for ages but wont take a step tho.

Off to cook dinner but oh playing golf so may be lazy and have a bowl of cornflakes

Jewelsandgems · 31/05/2009 20:38

Hi tracey the holiday sounds lovely, except for the sick. Though Freya was sick last night and she has a very high fever today. She was out in the sun all day yesterday though, so not sure if it was the sun. I am checking on her every 1/2 an hour and she is not getting any worse, but still is very very hot.

Anyway, we had a lovely day yesterday - day out in the garden, my parents round for a bbq - shame Freya was ill though

Well girls, we are off this weekend for the ball, and I have gone and gotten sodding sunburn on my shoulders - whilst wearing a bloody vest top. So, my dress for the ball is strapless, and I have lovely strap marks let's just hope the spray tan covers them, or they have faded in time for saturday. If not, I'll be looking really classy not.

Hi All

I'm supposed to be working but it's so hot... ...not that I'm not enjoying it though.

I hope those of you with sick DCs are coping. What did the doctor say, Grrrl?
JKS - I hope your DS2 is still responding to medication.

We took our two to London on the train yesterday to visit friends. We used to go when they were tiny, but I haven't dared to try it with two mobile children and they were remarkably good and loved the train. DD is still a bit listless with an ever-lasting cold though, but in comparison to some on this thread I really shouldn't complain. She was quite nervous with my friend's children to start with (as you'd expect) but that meant that they only really started playing just before we had to go... I guess that means that we have to go back

Chaotica · 01/06/2009 14:09

Tracyface - I agree about how impossible it is to get the DCs to keep hats on (actually, DS will wear one... but only if it's DD's; and DD will wear DP's - so now only DP is in danger of sunburn, unless he tries on the Easter bonnet ). They all look lovely!

Jewelsandgems · 01/06/2009 19:29

That was brave chaotica taking them on the train - I have with Freya and she is fine. But Izzy just wants to toddle around and point at things.

Well girls, yes is free bar and today I wore strapless dress to try and blend in the strap lines. Think it would to a point, but I am actually quite burnt. My face a bit like this

And I was wearing gladiator sandals and my feet have a tan - yep you've guessed it have sodding gladiator sandal-shaped white bits - the effect is stripy feet. Lovely.

Freya is back to her normal self now, and that is nice. Had a day in the paddling pool, and lots of watrering the plants.

A plus tard xx [why the french, I have no idea]
