Hi Ladies

Hope you're getting the tan lines sorted Jewels (even if it means selectively painting on fake tan ). I will be at you off enjoying the free bar etc

Had a great day so far (woods/playground and cake-making with DD while DS napped) but I'm sure I'm due a meltdown.

Besides this, DD has become suddenly foul-mouthed although she doesn't know it - I think it might be something she heard when we were away (not that me and DP are perfect, but we do try). (Although the CM did say that she once said 'for god's sake...' ) That's what DD said and she's sticking to the story, although she has taken to making up a few stories these last few days. (One example: I really wanted a wee and mummy said 'no!' you can't go to the toilet...' ) I will have to start to direct her imagination in other directions before it's too late .

Loops - lol at new sling hope you are all feeling happier. you are not crap btw!

Chaotica - H is doing much better thanks, he's not well at the mo either - thinking MMR reaction from last week - so not sleeping well at night (ie i'm shattered) and tiredness seems to bring on more absences/nods. but no big seizures since the new drugs thanks God!

Apart from the last 2 nights with H up crying, both boys have been sleeping well thankfully and mostly past 6am which is brilliant for them. at any later!

Kaybee - any luck on the jobs front? from what i've read about people job hunting here it's no easier

Have been sorting out toys this morning and got a box of baby-ier stuff to put away, doesn't seem to make a difference to the overall mountain though

need to go and get T from pre-sch in a mo, and vote, then have lunch. T eats the same thing every day - what he calls a 'mixed-up sandwich' (peanut butter + jam, don't know where he got the idea from!) and some cucumber.
oh well, DH normally gives him something else at the weekend so i just let him have it .

Lol at the shouty mummy thing as I think it must be catching this week. I have been really gritting my teeth which i then noticed melissa doing to isaac while wagging her finger at him. Oops she is a real madam at the moment and so willful. She has the be the most stubborn of all my five - maybe its because she is a girl.

She certainly knows her own mind a the moment.

Had a nice few days in the garden though and I too am trying to cover burn marks because my dress is also strapless bodice and I have some very strange keyhole marks from my stupid tshirt I wore last weekend away camping.

Morning, all

I am because dp is having a lie in (not that he isn't allowed such things, and I do get my turn... it's just not today ( again and misplaced )).

I know what you mean about the toy mountain. We have a clothes mountain as well - my two are growing so fast that I can never keep up with the charity shop run (and the people I pass them on to are swamped with clothes too big for their children ). (DD started fitting into clothes meant for a 7 yo this week, so i guess you can imagine the problem.)

I need a bottomless pit for the toys though - maybe I'll dig one in the garden .

After the too hot sun, the rain is going to get my sanity next (although we went swimming yesterday which both DCs loved). It was good that we went as DS seemed to be getting frightened of water having loved it until recently - toddlers are strange - but we managed to change his mind very quickly when he realised he was having fun. (There was a fair tantrum beforehand though )

Chaotica · 07/06/2009 10:40

Hope you had a good time at the ball, Jewels.

Jewelsandgems · 07/06/2009 19:28

Well hello ladies

I have an excellent time at the ball. And have infact a champagne hangover (which I hate the most) the dress was perfect [smug emoticon] the evening was perfect. We are home now, missed the girls terribly although was a knightmare putting Freya to bed, and I suspect my mum and dad who have been babysitting have hung around in her room much too long, thus she had a major tantrum when I tucked her and said goodnight. Oh well - I guess it is unavoidable they will do things differently to me. Still a bit grrr though.

tracey hope your tan lines have faded and not to silly looking, and loopy mine were still there, but I kept my hair down and got drunk so as not to notice any tanning-related sniggers.

chaotica glad that your DS decided to enjoy the water after all - Freya is very unsure of swimming baths. Shall I start swimming lessons for her? [clueless emoticon]

Well girls eating bacon sandwich, hope my hangover goes away and then an early night for me.

Happy sunday everyone

GoodGrrrlGoneBad · 08/06/2009 08:50

Hi Guys.

Doctor said it was virus of some kind. He came out in a rash and i thought it was measles, but thank god it's not. He's much better now illness wise.

Sorry for not properly catching up- i have scanned your posts- will catch up properly soon.

The kids are sleeping really badly- up 4am 3 days in a row, aswell as up in the night with Dyl. Dyl is also having complete meltdown tantrums- i've never seen the likes of it. I'm so tired and stressed i could cry. Starting to wonder if they are actually my kids, because i think they're trying to kill me.

Chaotica · 09/06/2009 00:05

Evening, All

Oh Grrrl - I don't know how you cope with the early mornings. A saint would be losing the plot on that kind of schedule. And it sounds like Dyl is none too awake himself if he's really screamy a lot of the time, although that might be because he's been ill. (Freya always does that when she's been ill, and was especially bad around 18m old; she can still go for it though - I'm still expecting the neighbours to call ss in over some of the mega-tantrums. )

Jewels - glad you had fun at the ball (I wouldn't start your Freya with swimming lessons until she's a bit better in the water -- I would think she's too young to enjoy it anyway. Could you take her swimming more often so she starts to like it?)

Hope the rest of you are well and happy...

tracyface · 09/06/2009 20:03

Evening, was also going to do a nice big post but Isaac has started crying so will try to pop back on when I have sorted him out. Poor love has a bad cold again and I think its his teeth ....Back soon I hope

Chaotica · 10/06/2009 12:06

Morning, All

Poor Isaac, Tracyface. I hope his teeth hurry up. Connor is getting canines and is old enough to complain about them now; some days he just can't eat unless I give him painkillers first. (They're taking months to appear as well.)

Hope the hangover has gone, Jewels.

I'm nervous of every cough and sneeze of me and my DCs at the moment as someone at work has swine flu (they're not saying who, nor whether the person was ever in work when they had it...). Maybe I should keep off the thread so you don't catch it too OTOH I think the advice is that it's better to have it now...

GoodGrrrlGoneBad · 13/06/2009 06:10

ooh swine flu- i don't think there've been any cases here in Wales (yet)

Hope you're all good.

I'm feeling more positive than i was last time. Dylan slept through last night, until 5.20am. First time! I'm hoping it won't be the only time!

Going to fit a blackout blind today in their room, and the kids have a playhouse coming for the garden. Also promised George i'd make a trifle this weekend - you should have seen his face when i was telling him what was in one, you'd swear it was Xmas!

Anyhoo- hope you all have great weekends.

Chaotica · 13/06/2009 18:07

Happy trifle, Grrrl

(Hi All Back later, I hope, when I've given the posse their tea...)

Loopy - 5 pre-schoolers? Are you OK? Hope you've had a little time to sit down and catch your breath (and your DH is away too, right?). I don't know how you coped.

I'm trying to work out if I can take my two 200 miles on my own to see my dad... (Not much help when I get there either as I'd stay the night somewhere else - we don't make great house guests at the moment for people who don't have kids... Best just to stay for a few hours.) Dare I do it? (Will DS be sick all the way in the car??)

Good advice about swimming, Loopy. I want DD to start learning in a year or two but we don't take her nearly often enough at the moment. She's finally improving again about getting water in her eyes and so on so I have some hope (she had a phase of not liking it at all).

Loopy - my dad is 86. So I should go even though he's quite well for someone of his age. (And DP doesn't really have time to go with me like he usually does.) I told him I might make it. (There is a steam train which runs almost past the end of his garden, so I've told the DCs that we can go on it some time.) (I might regret trying to do that on my own.)

Chaotica · 14/06/2009 01:16

BTW Loopy the baby sounds like she loves having the older children around. I feel for your older DD1 though - I think it does become hard when you suddenly don't have people your age around. (My CM occasionally has children there like that - they usually end up helping out .)

Where the hell would DS1 put his gangly legs if he was rear facing though, or am i being dense?

And i can just imagine how much fun they'd be on car journeys, with not much to look at.

tracyface · 15/06/2009 11:34

Hi everyone,

Sorry didnt manage to get back on ended up being a long night. The order of Isaac's teeth erupting is very strange as he has four at the top, two at the bottom and then a top and bottom molar. Poor thing was very upset and really sore. Was awake most of the night on and off.

Seems a lot happier now they are through but now I see another top molar on the other side about to give us more trouble tonight no doubt.

Had his mmr and screamed the place down but seemed ok afterwards and slept well.

Melissa is having a potty day today so stocked up on charie and lola and peppa pig pants for some excitement today!

Going to do an nct sale at the weekend so lots of sorting to do this week _ I always buy more than I sell so may be restrianed and not take my cheque book this time.

As for car seats I have two of the bebeconfort Axis swivel type ones tht cost a fortune so dont fancy replacing them athough that article does make you think doesnt it?

GRRL Im sorry you are not getting much sleep at the moment - cant complain about my two sleeping, in fact I am having to wake Melissa or we are late for nursery lately

Chaotica - I would take the train journey and look on it as an adventure that you can laugh about when you get home. I did a similar trip to oxford with my two which was really tricky but I enjoyed it in the end and was quite pleased I tackled it .

Off to enjoy the sunshine before the thunderstorms that are promised

tracyface · 15/06/2009 11:43

lol just thought would share with you what Isaac got up to while I was typing that post l just caught him having a nice little splash in the potty and dabbing it on his face like aftershave - dont think 'Eau de Melissa' is very alluring - so now off to give him a bath , Catch up soon x
