Hi all,

Well Melissa has chicken pox today so dont think that has helped the mood swings this week. Probably why she has been such a grumpy girl.

Chaotica - I dont think its car sickness as she only does it when she is having a tantrum to get out - and I dont think you can get motion sickness in a pushchair because she does it in the buggy too. I think she knows if she is sick I have to get her out to clean her up so she is getting her own way. Its a tough one!

I did watch a supernanny program where two twin boys did the same thing and she said to just ignore them and clean it up without a fuss - but I hate sick so its very hard .

Hope everyone has nice Easter and lots of chocolate! x

Hello everyone, newbies and brand new thread. I have Freya who is just 3, and Izzy who is 16 months.

We are all fine here but DH ha a cold, and so has Izzy. She seems fine enough with it so far though, and I have been giving her calpol. No tantrums for ages actually, but wishing all your tantrummy tots decide to coast on the more serene side of life over the easter weekend

Izzy has started to say a few words like 'ball' and stuff, and she songs along to twinkle twnkle little star in a kind of silly hummy way that is really cute. She can also point out Iggle Piggle from her in the night garden magazine and today tucked into a M&S brown suger rotisserie chicken leg

Well ladies it is that time again for me to wonder about buggies. I do not feel we have the need for the P&T doubles anymore, but at the same time Izzy still needs a buggy for a while yet. Shall I just remove the extra seat? Or, sell the lot and buy something more compact and lightweight? (though with decent wheels) in which case any recommendations?

Night night all, just drinking white wine and it is niiiice.

urgh!

Have got hangover from hell and i've run out of nappies and milk.

Not much to report here, same old same old.

I have managed to change / water / breakfast the kids, which is remarkable seeing as i feel like i'm dying and i've had about 3hrs sleep.

Evening All

Hope you're in recovery, Grrrl. (I used to be able to drink with the best of them but now I'd probably be floored by a couple of pints - what a lightweight I'd have to lie to stop my friends buying me into rounds I didn't want )

We're off to see relatives for the holiday. Should be good if I can get myself organised (and I don't spend the entire time making sure DS doesn't do something dangerous...)
(Beware of rant about going to other people's houses (or other people without young children) when I return )

Meanwhile, nothing is what DD wanted at the moment. Grrrrrrr.

Cattymum · 10/04/2009 21:42

Can i join? I have a 3 year old and nearly 2 yo DDs and a DS aged 5... I wish I had joined this group when I had 2 preschoolers and a nonsleeping baby and was going slowing insane

I think I'm over the worst now though And really my DDs are quite good most of the time so I feel I can kick back and relax occasionally!

GoodGrrrlGoneBad · 13/04/2009 08:07

Hello everyone

Well what a lovely day! We have been to the garden centre, and Freya has helped water the compost.

I am still experiencing buggy envy and have been obsessed with the city mini baby stroller that argos did have at £64.99. Except they have bloody sold out everywhere and now the cheapest I can get it is £150 !! So, have my P&T on ebay, and if it gets £150 then fine, if not then I will end the auction early and be pissed off.

How are you all?

Hope your hangover is now a distant memory grrrl and I had a bit of a headache this morning from too much M&S house red (I really can recommend it at just 3.99 a bottle)

Well off to eat some of the girls' easter eggs (I am doing them a favour really)

Cattymum · 13/04/2009 16:08

I hope chicken pox and colds are better, my girls had chicken pox the other week... Eve (the 3 yo) was really whiney one day and I lost my temper and shouted at her... so I felt so guilty when she came out in the spots a few days later... poor mite.

Jewels... your comments about buggies strike a chord, dh has accused me of being a serial buggy collector!... I'm keeping my p&t because I need it if i need to get anywhere fast (like swimming on a friday!), or if someone is ill but i've got to do the school run, but then I just use our ancient mclaren for day to day... my SIL whos girls are the same age as mine is getting her youngest one of those trikes with a handle instead of another buggy... dont know whether your dd would be too young for one of those though?

We are enjoying the lovely spring sunshine at my MILs house with all the cousins... its a bit chaotic, so I've escaped to catch up with my emails!

Jewelsandgems · 13/04/2009 19:30

Hello Catty

Well I sold my P&T for £250!! So was very happy with that. Just waiting for them to collect...I don't know whether to buy the buggy I want from the shop and have it tomorrow, or buy it online cheaper, and have it sometime wednesday. This means I have 2 walks without a buggy which is obviously impossible. what would you do??

Well today has been a long day and lots of gardening later I am shattered! Really fancy sitting down with soaps and red wine but of course can't do that til these people show up.

Have a good eve all..

Chaotica · 14/04/2009 13:45

Hi All and welcome Cattymum (again)

Just had a great couple of nights away seeing relatives so the DCs have been having a wild time (they have also collected more than their body weights in chocolate which I'll have to help out with). Had a few relatives-lose-plot-when-toddler-does-something-pretty-innocent moments (like move pebbles in garden or pick up soil ) but fortunately we weren't staying with these relatives so it didn't really matter. (Tried to explain to DD that they weren't my rules ).

And DS has developed travel sickness - so I'm washing the car and car seat for the second time in three days.

Meanwhile, the lawnmower just spontaneously combusted, but that's a subject for another thread .

Don't know what you can do about the buggy problem, Jewels. Does Issy walk at all yet? Or do you have a sling (she's probably too big by now...) - we used to still tie on DD in a ring sling to save our arms falling off from carrying her when she was about 15m. Maybe you have a buggy by now anyway

Jewelsandgems · 14/04/2009 18:28

Hi chaotica, well bad news your DS and the travel sickness. I suffer with it terribly, and would not wish it on anyone (least of all a little one!)

We girls I have bought the city baby mini jogger thing - and it is lovely. Very light and cute, very manourerable and a little bit funky. Izzy can walk really well (and believe me should would walk all day if I'd let her - but it would take me hours to get to shops!) but the shops are a mile away, a mile back and I think I'll have to wait til she is a little bit older. But, the fact that my new little stroller folds away to nothing and slips in a tiny gap in the downstairs loo is nice. I will always regard my P&T as my favourite buggy though, as it is just to multi-functional.

Well I am off to body balance so when I get back will need wine and more food.

See you all later!

tracyface · 15/04/2009 13:51

Hello , we are just about over the pox with melissa until Isaac gets it . SHe has been a bit of a Diva and I had to hide all the mirrors and toys with mirrors and she was very upset about her spots and we have had to call them freckles which she seems happier with the idea of.

Going stir crazy so out for a walk in the sunshine I think to blow away the scabs cobwebs .

Hope everyone having a nice day.

Hi Cattymum I have Melissa 26 months and Isaac 15 months plus three other boys 10, 16 and 18.

luckymummy74 · 15/04/2009 20:02

HI all, haven't been on for a while as life so busy as usual...just been catching up.
Big warm welcome to all the newbies....
I have DD1 nearly 3 (in May) and DD2 nearly one (in 2 weeks!).

tracyface my neice has chicken pox so I am just waiting for my two to get it. TBH, I don't mind if they do, I want them to get it when they are young. I just hope it's not when we go on hols (in 3 weeks time). Or over their birthday weekend (2 weeks time).

jewels glad you got a good price for your P&T, I was gonna say that they usually sell well and hold their value.
We have a Bugaboo Gecko (the 'budget' version ). I love it and the only downside is how much boot space it takes up so we also have a cheapy stroller for hols and going away for the weekend. Trouble is, I'm starting to want a nicer looking stroller (ours is a cheapy one from toys r us, black and red....not v aesthetically pleasing). I like the choc brown and pink Mclaren one. Is it ridiculous to buy another stroller just cos I don't like the colour of mine???!! (I think I know the answer!!). DD1 still very occasionally gets in the buggy (if v long walk) so I reckon I'd get another 2 years use out of it??

LM x

Jewelsandgems · 15/04/2009 20:14

LM well in my current state, I advise everyone to get a new buggy if they want one. I am having such a good time with mine! And I am secretly happy with all the admiring stares

I would say check out the market first because for mine for example, I visited our local baby store and said their price was too much. The manager went away and came back with a better price so do not be afraid to try that. And that way you may get a gorgeous one for the same price a non-gorgeous one IYKWIM. I could not do without a 3 wheeler though, I have a cheaper chicco one already with four wheels and it is a total knightmare compared to my new one.

tracyface · 15/04/2009 21:40

Lm - hope you get it soon then as it lasts about a week. I am now waiting for Isaac to get it which is a pain as we have just ventured out today as I think we are not contagious anymore. Planning a few mad days out before we get stuck in again for a week.

Isaac was due his mmr today but cancelled it as I didnt think it was fair if he was feeling ill and grumpy anyway.

I have been having similar issues with my P&T and been thinking about getting a tandem rather than a side by side.
It just seems so unfair for Isaac stuck underneath and not much good for his development. He has started kicking Melissa and she is getting fed up with that. I have tried putting her underneath but there is no way she will swop.

Chaotica I sympathise with washing the car seat of sick today as Melissa had a big coughing fit and was sick again. But I felt sorry for her because it wasnt deliberate (like normal) She couldnt help it poor thing and I was stuck in a traffic jam and couldnt pull over to limit the damage.

So cant go out unless I can get hubby to get it back together - its like the Krypton Factor and defeats me everytime

luckymummy74 · 15/04/2009 23:13

tracyface You have me deepest sympathy....washing sick out of a carseat bad enough...having to then put it back together.....hell on earth.

jewels Thanks for the tip. I do try these things that seem to work for everyone else, but I only ever seem to get 'well sorry, that's how much it is '.

Think I might google some pushchairs...I have to be careful I don't get one too nice that means I then don't use the bugaboo!!

JustKeepSwimming · 16/04/2009 10:50

Hey everyone, long time no see i know!

Had to google that pushchair Jewels - look fab, i want one now too!!!

I am hardly using my P&T now tbh. i bought a McLaren Triumph which i'm v happy with for ds2 and ds1 either walks or goes on the buggy board. Of course the triumph tips easily if ds2 isn't in it but as long as i put the board down it's fine.
It's the first new buggy i've been happy with, everything else has either been 2nd hand given or 2nd hand eBay. i bought a M&P Aria before ds2 arrived and i hate it, it's rubbish.
Not sure if i can sell the P&T just yet though...though it's mostly taking up space in the hallway or car boot!

DS2 ill here, ear infection + tonsilitis. on ABs and Calpol and sleeping through most if it which is fine.
DS1 announced he wanted pants today so he's wearing some, so unconvinced that any toilet/potty activity will happen though! he's never done anything on either before but i did buy a new 'family loo seat' which has got him interested....

hope everyone's recovered from CP/hangovers, etc. and had a good Easter - too much choc here of course.

PIL coming later for a few days so may get some 'time off'...

Jewelsandgems · 16/04/2009 20:28

JKS your poor DS with ear infection and tonsilitus - I bet he has glad to be on ABs though, I used to have ear infection all the time as a child and the minute I started taking them, felt like the pain went away almost immedialty!

I know it is sad about my P&T now being with a new family, but as well as long as that seat was available on it, Freya always wanted it. I feared this would be a major thing for her with the new buggy not having extra seat, but strangely enpough it's like she realises that she has moved on. Mind you, my mum and dad bought her some lovely M&S bedding and new duvet for her bed and I was very upset to think of her not using her blankets anymore (she uses 1 fleect yellow and 1 fleecy pink blanket and a cot size giraffe padded blanket and has had the fleecy ones since before she was born) and then I was secretely happy that she will still not use the duvet and insists on her blankets being on instead

Well 2 people have asked my about the buggy today and a friend of mine is trying to convince her DH she needs one. I think I will attach a buggy board (aparently they take one really easily) but will have to research that.

Well Izzy has been a very grumpy little thing today when waking from her lunchtime nap. She woke crying during it (which she never does) and then was really hard to wake when it was time so guess she was tired. And after carrying her around and trying to make her happy I ended up bloody tired too!

Anyway gorgeous girls wishing you a happy friday and speak soon xx

luckymummy74 · 17/04/2009 11:57

Well I compromised and got a new buggy this morning, got this one in bright yellow

Only £49 in mothercare. I have a bright green bugaboo so I'm not afraid of a bit of colour in my life!!!
I'm very pleased with it. Granted, it's not the best looking buggy in the world ( Jewels!!!) but I didn't want to get one that I liked so much I stopped using the bugaboo, IYSWIM.

Poor DH went for his snip this morning but the Dr couldn't do it cos his tubes are too tight !! He was still cut etc so still in pain but no snippage......Grrrr!

Jewelsandgems · 17/04/2009 14:08

LM well done on the buggy purchase. And I think it is nice! It's very light and compact too and at £49 you can't really go wrong!

DH has had the girls today whilst I was at pilates and I think he has had a tough time of it (house a mess, no washing done, had resorted to smarties which resulted in hypoactive children - bad combination!)

Other than that all quiet here.

luckymummy74 · 17/04/2009 19:12

jewels surely you mean hyperactive....hypoactive would mean very dull lifeless children...I just can't see that happening in any child under the age of about 13.
Glad you approve of the buggy. I'm feeling good cos I managed to palm -off-- give our old stroller to my SIL who has a 4 month old baby boy.

Feeling a bit as saw DH's family today and had lots of negative comments about him even going for the snip...including my fcuking (sorry ) 15 year old neice saying to me...
"I just don't think it (vasectomy) is necessary...I mean, it's not natural is it...why can't you use birth control Aunty LM?" .....LM...."because I know too many people who have got pregnant on the pill"

LM xxx

Jewelsandgems · 17/04/2009 19:48

LOL LM yes indeed hyperactive

And at those anti-snip comments! I would never go back on the pil anyway, and see the snip as the only way to avoid having 10 children!

tracyface · 18/04/2009 09:59

Oh no Lm so what does that mean he cant have it done. The reason I ask is because my oh is supposed to be going in May and he is really worried about it, and has put it off already once.

Has anyone had a tandem buggy and if so are they really heavy as thats what i'm thinking of swopping to for around town?

Melissa over her chicken pox now and a bit happier so thats good just need the rain to stop . Have a nice weekend everyone.

Jewelsandgems · 18/04/2009 14:21

traceyface in your earlier post you have said you already have a P&T, which I class as a tandem buggy being on seat infront of another (although other tandem buggies are huge and seem clumsy in comparison] do you mean you are thinking of getting a side by side buggy?

My DH needs no excuse not to have the snip. Infact it is now a banned subject in our house

We left the girls with my mum and went off to do big sainsburies shop, and honastly I swear my mum thinks Freya is better off with her. Today, it was time to go and Freya looked sad so mum started getting really stressed and started carrying her about, and saying 'you can gave these sweeties' etc. And I said 'mum, she'll be fine, she's not crying or anything' and by this time Freya was trying to get down from mum. So mum says 'well she can stay with me all afternoon then.' so I said 'no mum, thanks anyway, but DH has not seen her all week, so he wants to spend some time with her. And she was most pissed off! Honastly, I am sure she thinks we beat her/starve her/god knows what! [and then she started saying can she come over for the day tomorrow and let's not get into what I wanted to say to that]

Does anyone else's parents/inlaws make you feel like you are a crappy parent?
