Just wanting to say how much I love my xs Sandy's! LOL Sooo pleased to have got these from swampster! Now, I know if anyone ever asks what kind of nappies for a newborn, it will certainly be xs Sandy's! They are so comfy looking, a nice snug fit, and NO leaks! I could use them without a wrap, they're so effective! I'm just surprised to have a newborn and not even get messy wraps - tis amazing! The size 1 Kissaluvs aren't bad either, but they are a bit more stiff & bulky and sag a bit in the front - so I certainly prefer the Sandy's! But between having 6 Sandy's and 6 Kissaluvs, and washing nappies every day (since I have 2 in nappies)...I've got plenty so far just using those 2 types! Oh, and I quite like my fitted Bumgenius bamboo nappy. But I have to admit, I've not even tried the tie-on nappies yet - and afraid I probably won't! I was about to test one this evening, but Clement was screaming and I thought "why bother, I have plenty of popper nappies!" So....think the tie-on nappies will probably just be sold on too - really shouldn't have got so many nappies in the first place, huh?! lol Then again, the tie-on's I got first, and then got better stuff!

Ok, such a lot of boring nappy talk/ramblings! But then again, surely that's allowed on a nappy chat thread!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 15/04/2009 20:55

Both DD and DS wore Sandy's XS... They are the best newborn nappy, preferably with a Tots Bots size 0 wrap. Not a huge fan of ME airflow wraps....

Gotta love that Swampster

Hello thedogmamma. My youngest was about 8 months when I changed to cloth. I like ittis but DS2 has occasional poop leaks in them, I love fluffles (they dry so fast) they are huge under clothes and wonderoos are fab for DS2(but I believe they can be leaky on smaller babies).

ilovemydogandMrObama · 15/04/2009 21:51

Hi DogMamma,

I use Bum Genius (sized) and Tots Bots Flexitots mainly. Bum Genius are good in that they are like a disposable, but not a great night nappy. Flexitots boosted with bamboo/microfleece liners is a fairly bomb proof night time nappy (with wrap).

I loved Baby Beehinds, but DS has very very skinny legs, but if chubbed out a bit, would definitely use them again.

Good web sites:

kittykins
babykind
naturalresource

Hi Dogmamma
I have 2 in cloth and have been using:
Days
Blueberry Onesize (bbos)
Itti Bitti D'lish
Flexitots with Blueberry wrap

Nights
Ellas House Bumhuggers (bh's) with motherease airflow wrap or a tots bots wrap
Baby Beehinds bamboo (bbh's) with motherease airflow or tots bots wrap

If you are thinking of 2nd hand nappies there are always bargains to be had on this thread, mumsnet sale board, clothnappytree, ukparentslounge, realnappygroup and usednappies.co.uk.

But if anyone wants them ffp let me know

Im currently waiting to buy some more bbh's from clothnappytree, i have funds waitng but ihave been waiting to pay her since last week My money is burning a hole in my paypal

TheNatty · 15/04/2009 22:49

4 me please!

notcitrus · 15/04/2009 23:07

Argh - I knew used cloth nappies weren't allowed on Ebay but stupidly it didn't occur to me that 'wraps' counted as 'underwear' especially as there was the Used/New option and the listing went through. Been removed now.

Anyone interested in a large white poppered Motherease wrap?

soon2befamilyof4 · 15/04/2009 23:30

notcitris - how much are you looking for the ME wrap? Is it an airflow or rikki? I have just bought a huge bundle and not really sure what is in there till I get it. I do need some large wraps for night time but I can't really afford to buy anything else so will see what is in the bundle first. If nothing suitab;e in the bundle then I might be interested.

No baby yet. She is staying put!

4 - no problem at all about missing the post office. Don't worry. Yours are posted though so could you please let me know when you get them?

Rachel - I had just decided NOT to buy any more XS sandys! Now you have made me want them again!

Just blown £150 on that nappy bundle . Really praying it was worth it.

I have actually just this minute paid for 3 more of the tots aio's you just linked to! I already have 4, 2 fluffle and 2 bamboozle and i really like them. If drying time is a factor go for the fluffle as they dry really quickly, although the insert is still bamboo which takes a bit longer

I have got one of the tots AIOs that you just linked to. I like it, but my daughetr is a heavy wetter so fine I need a bit extra. I have a bamboo one, but I take out the booster that isn't attached and replace it with an easy peasey hemp insert.

Anybody got any tips for reducig milk intake during the night? It is getting silly now - DD is drinking 10 oz at a time and having a bottle when she goes to bed, usually 1 before we go to bed or as we get up, one in the night and one first thing. So that can be up to 40oz! Even her UDNN struggled this morning - she didn't leak but was a bit damp iyswim and that was with the pop in booster. SHe was soaked when I took off the wrap.

I have just got a bundle of woolies from another mumsnetter. Absolutly lovely. WIll be lanolising this afternoon! Hopefully using wool at night will help keep DD a bit more dry.

sasamaxx · 16/04/2009 10:57

So this is the real nappy thread then...?
Stumbled across it as I'm trying to get my hands on some used size 2 sandy's. Anyone???

ilovemydogandMrObama · 16/04/2009 12:18

Got me real nappies - or at least a large selection thereof. Baby #1 due July.... Is there much point in "researching" the nappy bucket/mesh etc situation or is one lot much like another? The hormones are getting to me and I haven't even started on prams. Should I just buy the damn bucket and cease with the ditherations and procrastinations?
Thanks in advance

soon2befamilyof4 · 16/04/2009 13:01

I am going to sell off my little rippers nappies for £10 for all 12 if anybody is interested? They are large cotton shapped nappies? Not absorbant enough for my DD but would be fine for somebody who doesn't have a heavy wetter? They are practically brand new - I originally wanted more for them but I need the space. Postage would needed to be added on top.

JetLi - with regards to nappy buckets, I have never got on with the ones I have had and now use a big bin with a lift up lid from pets at home. IT is meant to be to store cat food or cat litter etc but it is perfect for nappies IMO. The nappy buckets we have had have all been too small for even 1 day of washable nappies. We wash every 2-3 days and use washable wipes etc as well, so a tiny bucket is just not good enough.

With wet bags, I have a few as I am always loosing them . I have all different ones and TBH I find them all the same. They are different sizes though - some hold 1-2 nappies, others a whole days supply, so you do need to think about size. Mine have all been second hand though and I haven't paid more than about £1-2 each for them so I would have a look at second hand sites if I were you. They can also be used instead of nappy buckets if you prefer, which I Think I would do if I didn't have what I have got bucket wise. Yu can then just hang them on a door or something so minimal space.

treedelivery · 16/04/2009 13:42

Hello!

Can't stop as rl is pressing - how very dare it - and am crap one handed typer.

XS sany's, just brilliant no? I didn't bother with a wrap at first, then used a small fuzzi as I was a bit precious 2nd born about the elsastic cuffs on me. She's getting better now though, her skin doesn't react as much aeound the cuffs,

Had 1st unexpected leak, from a thirsties wrap and a lollipop fluffy. Mind you it had been on 4 hours so no complaints.

3 months today - she is making weter nappies this last week or two. Be time to move into hemp or bamboo soon I think.

Buckets - I have a mini dustbin with lid for wipes and bedroom, from tesco £2. It hols maybe 3 nappies.
And a big bruiser of a bucket for near changing table. Don't seem to get on with meshes, they are never where I need them to be, but often down back of washer. Sure Iwill when weaning, still on runny non smelly bf poo here.

Speaking of which, there is a rumble and bubling in the fluff - gotta go

Done!

notcitrus · 16/04/2009 14:29

soon2be - is £5 inc p+p OK? email [email protected] if interested.

The lidded buckets from pound shops seem as good as any nappy bucket. I use a mesh bag for my washable wipes when I can find one, as otherwise a couple end up in the rubber bit round the washer door, unwashed.

Finally found a physical shop where I can buy disposable liners - Croydon Mothercare has gone from only having smartnappies 4 months ago, to now also selling colourful TotsBots, Bumgenius, Tommy Tippee washables, and various accessories. All overpriced of course but nice to see these things in shops. I suspect Croydon council has just started giving nappy vouchers!

Just tried fleecy liners for the first time - they are cute with a furry pattern but not sure what the point is as you have to get the poo off, whereas paper liners can be slung in the loo easily. Will see what sort of consistency A settles down to producing...
