The hemp trifolds are literally squares of double thickness hemp (5mm or so thick) which i fold in half lengthways for a large pocket or thirds width ways for a small-medium pocket.
The peachy cheeks bamboo boosters are very absorbant i used them in bg's v2 to act like the extra bit of the v3/s iyswim.

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/04/2009 19:41

Ok, well happy to give them a try and see what works. I have no idea what they are worth - what would you say was a fair swap? You probably know more than me!

4andnotout · 11/04/2009 19:42

How about 2 of the bamboo and 2 of the hemp?

natty - the one off rachel has a cotton outer and I think the inserts are a hemp mix. He has only worn it once and my dh took it off him so i'm not sure how it compares to the other one tbh. Blake isn't that wet so I don't even use the snap in part of the bamboo WNNN, just the tri-fold and it easily lasts the night.

TheNatty · 11/04/2009 20:31

kool that sounds fine then.
then ellen will have 4 night nappies, which should be ample.
The BBH isnt a pocket is it? i got confused earlier, i think just the WNNN if thats ok?

she wore nappies again today as we are all poorly here and i didnt much fancy chasing her around with the potty when she had the runs lol!

i have little weeds trifold thingys is that the same as what you have 4? find them dead useful in night nappies

4andnotout · 11/04/2009 20:44

Im not sure what brand they are, i bought them in a bulk load of hemp inserts from ebay yonks ago! I used them to stuff bumhuggers overnight with great success.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 11/04/2009 21:56

OK, here's copy of message I posted to my antenatal thread, just so you all can know too!

At last, my baby is here! Clement James was born at 2:12pm this afternoon! He weighs 8lb 14oz and is 22.5 inches long.

Here's a peek at him too:

i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/rachins_photos/Clement/CJ1.jpg

i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/rachins_photos/Clement/CJ2.jpg
first nappy! xs Sandy's from swampster! (though as big as he is, I think he's wearing it on the largest popper setting!

i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/rachins_photos/Clement/CJ3.jpg
small ME Airflow wrap - as my lovely tartan size 1 wrap looked tiny compared to him, and the xs Weennotions wrap (with cute adorable frogs on it) just wouldn't fit! So, a small Airflow fits nicely, though the waist is not on it's smallest setting even!

i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/rachins_photos/Clement/CJ4.jpg

I had contractions all night long last night - like every 10 minutes, so I didn't get any sleep. I felt they were beginning to fade this morning, and was giving up hope that anything would ever happen (having already had a previous night of contraction with nothing to show for it). So, I was only 1cm on Thursday, I'd made it to 3cm on Friday (though still no contractions). This morning the midwife came out at 9am and she said I was 4-5cm. She witnessed the painful contractions I was having and decided she wasn't leaving and that I was actually in labour. I had them about every 5-6 min apart for a good while - though many of them lasting well over 50 seconds. In fact, apart from a couple of back-to-back contractions, I'm sure they weren't much more frequent than every 4min up until soon before he was born! I ended up using gas & air for about 45 minutes so I could relax a bit, as I was totally exhausted! Eventually my breathing started sounding like I was ready to push, so they told me I should try the next few contractions w/out the gas & air. The next one resulted in my waters bursting - yay!! Quite a lot of relief (I had PROM for 2 days with other two children, so having waters in tact for so long was difficult!). Anyway, finally managed to push him out - was very painful and difficult (he's got a big head, which I think was a large part of the problem with labour not establishing), but I'm happy to say I'm perfectly in tact, with not a graze or tear!!

So, all in all, I got the home birth I wanted - though it was a long struggle to get there, with lots of pain and lack of sleep. But well worth it - we've got a lovely little boy! And he's feeding like a pro too - had a 1 hour feed from about 20 min after he was born! And he's very calm & content too! His big sister & brother love him to pieces too! Now I just need to get some very much needed sleep!!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 11/04/2009 22:01

Congratulations

he's gorgeous!!!

I've been hoping about on one leg waving an xs sandy but no one took the hint. Didn't I do well not to spill your news!?

Congratulations - he looks very handsome in his fluff!

And well done on a great labour and homebirth. Beautiful, am very happy for you..

It takes me back...sniff.....

twoclimbingboys · 11/04/2009 22:26

Congratulations! He is soooo cute, especially in that sandy.

To be totally honest I am really of you, but at the same time crossing my legs at the description of your labour. Well done on the home birth.

TheNatty · 11/04/2009 22:35

aww... he is utterly beautiful!
i am so of both him and the homebirth, i would love to have a homebirth!

how big is he though! heres you worrying your nappies wont fit lol!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/04/2009 22:47

Congratulations rach ...he is beeeoootiful, and I LOVE the name

thebluefoxategreensocks · 11/04/2009 23:25

Yes, I know! It took Abigail 6 weeks to fit into tiny Proraps & prefolds (she was only 5lb 14oz) and Benjamin went into cloth at 6 days old (7lb 5oz), so I thought it would be good to have some nice small stuff! Guess I'll know for next time! lol Bet he'll probably fit straight into a medium Itti and certainly size 1 Tots Bots! Though at the moment I love the neat/slim fit of the xs Sandy's! He's just finally done his first wet nappy! Yay! Benjamin took about 36 hours after he was born to empty his bladder, so I'm pleased/relieved that Clement has proved his urinary system is working properly much quicker!

ooouch though for the afterbirth pains! I knew they are supposed to get worse with each birth, but they're really nasty this time round...esp when I've got such a strong sucking little boy!

TheNatty · 11/04/2009 23:34

so pleased for you

DH is not impressed with the fact we have BTP nappies, when they might not fit from birth.
his exact words? "well you can bloody well use disposables then till they do fit, you are not buying anymore nappies"

think maybe i might have to start hiding things...

LMAO!

soon2befamilyof4 · 12/04/2009 01:29

Rachel - Congratulations! He is sooo lovely! I love the babygrow in the last picture too! I am so pleased for you that he is finally here! Don't talk to me about afterpains though - I don't want to know! lol. Haven't had time to go on the april thread tonight as I have been out all evening but will do tomorrow.

natty - Do you have many BG? TBH I can't see them not fitting from birth as with a really small insert, I can't see them being too big. I imagin that I will use mainly the BG for the newborn and the BBOS and others for Elouise as they are slightly more bulky.I find BG the most reliable of my pockets - although the least pretty and the most tatty looking. I am going to keep an eye out for some really cheap ones. I have had them as cheap as £4-5 without inserts because they are grey but I know they will do that soon anyway so not bothered. The BG are never going to be my nappy that I want to show off so not bothered. I have tonnes of things I can stuff them with for the newborn too. Muslins, MF cloths, MF inserts, cotton boosters, smart nappy inserts - although these are more bulky, the list could go on so not worried for the newborn. I also have all the inserts that come with pockets as we don't get on with MF for Elouise, even if boosted with hemp etc. So will have them when baby needs a good absorbancy.

I keep having dreams/feelings that this baby is a boy (have been told it is a girl). But I dyed a lot of my nappies pink/purple and have other dyes ready to use for the remaining plain nappies but a bit scared incase it isn't a girl!!

Just realised that I should be the next one on here with a birth announcement! Due next Wednesday (22nd) so hopefully won't be too long.

afterglow · 12/04/2009 11:33

Congratulations Rachel! Clement is gorgeous, and so sweet in that Sandys.

drlove8alltheeastereggs · 12/04/2009 11:36

cograts rach ! he's adorable

soon2befamilyof4 · 12/04/2009 11:57

Tried out the medium UDNN last night and it was fine. Large is a better fit but the medium will do for now and it was a good price so pleased with it. I think we have a good few months left in it so will keep us going till we get hold of some more large.

DD slept in till 10am (so did we!!) and we still had no leaks! Brilliant.

Does anybody know how a mommys touch onesize pocket folds down for newborn? I can't work it out?

TheNatty · 12/04/2009 12:46

yeah soon i have about 8 BGs and with ellen training wont need many for her

i need 2 pockets for naps for her and tom and 2 night nappies each per day.
if need be i will just get a load of WNNN as they are cheap second hand, and i dont care how tatty they are as they would be used for naps and nights, which no one sees.

i have about 15 nappies in all, so i will get a few more when i can afford them, looking at a few more of the pretty FB they have boys prints as well as the daisys now. and of course i cant only have one BBOS so keeping an eye out for them

TheNatty · 12/04/2009 14:17

just put a pic of ellen in her BBOS.. so cute you have to look

treedelivery · 12/04/2009 14:22

Awwwwww!! Fantastic!

soon2befamilyof4 · 12/04/2009 15:20

good pic natty. I Keep trying to count all my nappies but they are never in one place at the same time!

Off the top of y head though, I know I have at least:
BG:
2 white, 2 pink, one blue
BBOS:
1 zebra print, 1 cow print, 1 purple, 1 pink delux (pul rather than fluffy)
GK:
1 white anytimes, 1 green anytimes and one girraffe minkitimes on its way.
3 lil stinkies on their way
2 wonderoos
5 mommys touch - pinks and purples

Those are the onesize ones, I have a few sized ones too along with

about 15 MEOS and tonnes of shapped nappies and wraps.

ANd I must have hundreds of prefolds . I don't even use them much. They make fab changing mats to lie young babies on for nappy free time.

Rachel - its interesting you are using the small airflows already. I have quite a few but they looked HUGE!

TheNatty · 12/04/2009 15:26

yeah i have a load of smart nappy inserts and MEOS, plus 3 night nappies and a load of wraps.

but i dont count them as i wont use them for new baby, just my BG and TB AIO, and the odds i have (fuzzibunz, wonderoo, BBOS)

i want more tho.. lol

i particulary want more patterned ones as all of my stash is pretty basic colours.

twoclimbingboys · 12/04/2009 15:28

Natty all your pics are fab. The one of them 'sleeping' is so cute.

TheNatty · 12/04/2009 15:53

aw thanks
