Would you leave your toddler for two weeks?

I am travelling in march for two weeks without my son who is only 20 months old. He will be staying with his father and his grandmother will be with him during day time. I am sure he will be very well taken care of.

But I still don't want to leave him. You see, I've grown very fond of him in the past 20 months and we are a team, we do everything together. I know I am being a total wuss but I can't help it.

Did you leave your babies before? how was it? a total disaster or a guilty pleasure?

At this point, the toddler in question is now about 5......

Ha, that's what comes of staying up past my bedtime - didn't even notice the datestamps.

I think it's fine as long as your LO is around people he/she is familiar with. Maybe let the father/grandmother spend a couple nights putting the LO to bed and spending time with them without you, so they get used to not having you there for every minute of the day. After the two weeks, it might take a couple hours for your LO to remember you and get used to you again. But it'll be fine!

BoysAreLikeZombies I don't think that's true. I know my partner wouldn't want to be away from our 14 month old son for that long. I'm visiting family abroad this summer and my partner can't come because of work commitments but we agreed that I would only go for 5 days as any longer would be too much time away from our son.

I couldn't leave my son for that long but every family is different. I don't think that it's true though that you will miss him more than he will miss you. At such a young age you are practically his whole world and I imagine he will miss you terribly.

I have left my toddler with my parents for 2 nights, on three occasions. With your husband and mum he'll be absolutely fine, but it might be tough on you. I was really ready to see my baby after two nights away. My trips were 'romantic' getaways (incl. 1 x honeymoon) (though we mostly caught up on our books!) but tbh one night would have done me each time.
