Ugh - it was on the baby killed by dog thread. Terribly tragic

But it got silly with people posting that it's reckless to have a dog and a child blah blah blah.

My kids love our Goldren Retrievers, and yes, DD (aged 2) has been known to put a hat on the dog when we are getting ready for a walk as she doesn't want him to get cold. She also puts blankets on them etc.

So then I get flamed for not respecting my dogs and allowing my dogs to be mistreated. Oh, and apparently my attitude is dangerous as they could snap and injure my kids...

My fault for straying out of the Real Nappy Thread!

swmapster the BBHs on usednappy.co.uk have gone up to £40.00 for 6 not including postage, so will give it a miss. Shame though!

Evening all

ilmd what a load of b***ks, i have a staffordshire bull terrier who wears t shirts on occasion, and is always being dressed or wrapped in blankets as a baby! She is never bothered, when she has enough she walks off!

I should be doing my ironing so that i can get in the nursery again as i want to re sort my nappy changing unit as we seem to be back to pockets again, and dp gets too confues with whose is whose

drlove8 · 09/02/2009 21:01

i lovemydogandmrobama dont let get too you, its very clear you are a dog person, someone who knows what your doing with your animals, the fact you have golden retrievers (you lucky git )shows you knowyour breeds. GR's are the most gentle intelegent dogs, and id trust a well trained GR with my kids anytime! the problem of dogs attacking lies at the hands of inexperienced owners who do not show animals the respect of training them properly. it is tradgic what happened to the little baby, it just re-inforces that you shouldnt have animals if you dont know how to train them.>>

ilovemydog: is it only the cream coloured BBH that you're wanting? Cause as someone pointed out earlier, there are some more on UsedNappies with a cheap buy it now price. I think it's 12 quid for 2 BBH and 1 hemp Mamabless (same shape/design as BBH, if I understand correctly).

thebluefoxategreensocks · 09/02/2009 21:13

rusmum: unfortunately, my Bumbles are not in good condition. It seems the leg elastic is rather stretched out on several of them, and the fleece is stained on all - including the Bambeasy (bamboo version) which cost rather more than the bumbles! I was just hanging out my load of nappies to dry in front of the fire tonight and thinking "hmmm, I really don't like how discoloured these look - wonder if I should dye them with Dylon"! But that won't take care of the stained fleece - wonder if there's any way of brightening the fleece other than soaking in bleach?? as I really prefer to not do that with my little boy having eczema! And prefer undyed too (since he's in the for 12 hours at night, wet for most of that time). Oh well. Guess you get what you pay for most of the time - if they're a bargain, they're probably not pretty! Though occasionally I've got some dirt cheap bargains that were nearly new! So that makes up for the less nice ones! lol

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/02/2009 21:34

DR all packed!

drlove8 · 09/02/2009 21:36

oooh thanks sunflower! cant wait....so excited!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/02/2009 22:04

when DS saw the totsbots he wanted to keep it - it was in a bag with his 2 cotton tots, he probably wore a couple of times too when he was 18mo, so he tried the nappy over his undies and they still fit him at 4.7, though the wrap didn;t so he's "letting you" have it - actually, might try getting a bigger wrap and try those at night and save some money on pull ups ...

mumoftoby · 09/02/2009 22:22

ilovemydog - how infuriating. I am really irritated for you. We have 2 homebred Italian Spinones who we have in our house. DS1 is also around extended families' black labs and german shepherds. As long as they are always supervised when around dogs I don't understand what the problem is. I do feel totally sick for that poor little mite though.

swampster · 09/02/2009 22:22

ilovemydog give me a chance to figure out which way up my new baby goes and I will sort out a BBH or two for you. I have far too many as it looks like I won't have two in cloth for more than two seconds - DS2 is well on the way out of nappies!

drlove8 · 09/02/2009 22:26

aaawwww at sunflowers boy! what a wee sweetheart! tell him that little dd4 thanks him for letting her have the blue wrap.

mumoftoby · 09/02/2009 22:30

He does sound like a little cutie

lollipopmother · 09/02/2009 22:32

ILMD - Oh I hate MN so much when people are like that, they always find something to take the moral f'ing high-ground with and it's always a load of bollocks, I really don't know where MN finds these people, really gets my goat! When I first came on here I tried going on topics but the whole place is occupied by plebs! I now just stick to what I know - Nappies and my post-natal thread.

OP posts:
drlove8 · 09/02/2009 22:48

lollipop am thinking we should get some cloth and make gags for the plebs- could use spare boosters? would stop them spouting sh*te! lol , well it works for little bums, why not big arses?

4andnotout · 10/02/2009 08:57

Morning all
I have put dd3 in a medium itti today and i think im going to have to order her some large, they are a bit low in the rise for her chunky bum. DD4 looks lovely in hers though, im so glad i didn't bother with smalls!

AnnVan · 10/02/2009 10:40

Hi all
ILMD can I add that I totally agree with drlove, that the real message is that people should know how to train and interact with their dogs. A lot of people get dogs as an image thing (think of all the girls with little yappy dogs in their handbags, and all the 'hard' blokes with rotties) and don't actually know how to look after them properly. My mum used to breed staffies, and I grew up around them, dobermans, german shepherds etc. Never got mauled now did I? Seems bloody stupid to leave a little baby unattended with a dog though.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/02/2009 13:11

4andnot drlove mumoftoby lollipop Thanks - you guys have cheered me up! Am not the sort of person who gets upset easily, but was really offended.

Guess it's the nature of the beast, this annoymous internet posting -- brings out the worst in some people!

Swampster You are doing potty training with a week old baby? Got DD some Motherease bed wetter pants on rachelinscotland 's recommendation.

And best of all, DP went out with his friends last week to watch rugby. The deal is that however much he spent out on the piss, I get the same.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/02/2009 13:19

And Ann Van!! - totally agree with you about dogs socializing with kids. I wouldn't leave them alone together, but there are so may positive things about the dogs being with the kids. We absolutely have to go out every single day for a walk. Good phyically, and also is teaching them responsibility.

And they are such fun!

drlove8 · 10/02/2009 14:13

ilovemydogandmrobama, glad youre cheared up today! hows the fluff going with the wee one today? my dd4 just did a man- size poo and the tots and liner coped fabulous, i am gobsmacked at how good they are. when she did the same in disposables it would have been down her wee legs and all over her clothes and up her back.... i cant believe i didnt switch before!

itwasCYTEENagewedding · 10/02/2009 16:13

yes, i must say i'm happy with the containment of all the nappies i've got - we've had some real horror poos here lately but nary a leak, and the lime green Itti has come up sparkling after being comprehensively soiled the other day in fact, that last poo leak we had was from a rogue disposable.

put DS in BBH and fleece wrap last night, really excellent he did smell faintly of wee when i changed him at 5.30am (then again i probably did too ) but there were no leaks and no dampness.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/02/2009 20:13

DS has settled into a pattern of using during the day, flexitots, Bum Genius aio (medium), and at night, BBH which seems great so far!

In this new and improved mumsnet, how does one tell who has photos and who doesn't? Just tried uploading some, so not sure it has worked or not????

rusmum · 10/02/2009 20:21

i can see your pics!!

Used bumble for 1st time last night- impressed- parts of it were still dry and dd bottom dry!

Do i need to try a bbh?? reluctant to buy as not been keen on bamboo so far but everyone raves about them so feel i should try one.

Same with AIO (minkee, ittis etc) feel like oi should try them but like my sandys ( apart from smell)

4andnotout · 10/02/2009 20:33

rusmum i havent tried a bbh yet and tbh i dont think i'll bother, it's a case of finding what works for you and bumhuggers & airflows work for me
I do love ittis and blueberry onesize for daytimes, i ordered 4 new ittis today from ebay, she gave me a discount on post for having 4 and i had a 10% coupon from ebay so ws £49 delivered which isn't too bad.
Im thinking of selling my size 1 rainbow cotton tots if anyone is interested? Or should i keep them and sell 3 sandys?
I should be doing my ironing but i cant be arsed im busy on here

rusmum · 10/02/2009 20:39

i can never be arsed!! LOL

I didnt like bumhuggers not keen on hemp- like you say- each to their own..

How odd is this Today DD had sandy and airflow- she was asleep 2 hours and when woke up was wet through!!! No nappy was peeking and it wasnt wicking as was wet all over- as if wet had seeped through wrap??

WHATS GOING ON THERE?

4andnotout · 10/02/2009 20:43

Did it go in the same wash as nappies. as if not could it have been containimated by fabric softener?
