LovelySong - I was just wondering what I would do when DS drops his nap...so far he's still having one at nearly 2yrs and 6mths ...its my one break in the day and wondering how I'll manage when I don't get it....am sure I will but no time to mnet or have a wee in peace!! lol lol

Acinonyx · 13/11/2008 13:08

DD dropped her nap gradually between 2 and 2.5

From 2, she stopped napping every day.

Mine is 22 months and thinking about dropping his nap. Having one today though so will probably not want to go to bed tonight

PavlovtheCat · 13/11/2008 13:17

DD is 2.4 and still has about 1.5 hours nap. She has the odd day here and there when she goes without but is a right pain if she does not sleep. I am hoping it will continue for a good year yet . We are going to continue to force encourage her to nap for as long as we can.

Friend of mine dropped his at 2.8 and another one at 3.

ComeOVeneer · 13/11/2008 13:18

DD 18 months (omg it was hell come 5pm), ds 3.5 (although he still (will be 4 in a couple of weeks) will fall asleep in the car on a journey longer than 20 mins).

dd1 was nearly 4
dd2 was about 2
dd3 still having one at 2.3

these were/are regular naps in their bedrooms

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 13/11/2008 13:23

Pav!!! How was the Spa thingy???

I think every child is different re naps...ttc no 2 atm and I wonder how different it will be (if get bloody lucky!!) but I guess you don't get the luxury of resting as you still have DC no 1 to look after! Maybe Medised is the answer...

mankyscotslass · 13/11/2008 13:24

DS1 stopped at 18 mths
DD stopped at 22 mths
DS2 is 3 and still naps for up to 90 minutes most days.

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/11/2008 13:31

DS1 dropped his usual nap just before he was 2.
But he still used to have one every 3-4 days, but it would be falling asleep infront of cbeebies rather than going up to bed.

ACtually i used to put cbeebies on if i wanted/hoped he'd have one so i could have a rest too. Was pg with ds2.

About 2/2.3 ish but he still has one if we are in the car etc., but then stays up until 9/10 Awkward middle stage. (2.8 now)

Countingthegreyhairs · 13/11/2008 13:39

my dd was 3.75 yrs lovelysong ....

she was the last in her class ...they had to make a little bed up for her behind a book-case!

she has since turned in to the world's most lively and energetic 5 yr old ....

katiechops · 13/11/2008 13:42

DD is 2.2 and rarely naps on nursery days now and will have a nap about one day out of four. By the time we pick her up at 5.30 is is pretty grouchy.

She was still having a nap of 1-2 hours at home until last weekend, when she refused to go to sleep and sat in her cot singing songs and shouting at her teddy to go to sleep.

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 13/11/2008 13:43

oh counting thats good.
bless her liitle bed

lady don't say that thats an awkard age 2.8 i was hopig thats when dd would stop being a nightmare deamanding toddler

Ds is 2.6 and is in between needing a nap and not.
1 nap is too much and he isn't as sleepy at bedtime. Without a nap he's cranky all afternoon.

Bramshott · 13/11/2008 13:51

DD2 is 19 months and naps about 4 days in 7 . On the plus side, she does sleep very well at night!

princesspeahead · 13/11/2008 14:00

DD2 has dropped it this week
Last week it was 2 hours a day - this week ZERO. What a killer.

She is 2.10 BTW. I know I've been lucky that it has lasted this long. But I MISS it!

Poppycake · 13/11/2008 14:12

my oldest carried on napping at the weekends til about 2.5 or so because she was so tired from nursery, and would disappear for nearly the whole afternoon.

mejon · 13/11/2008 14:36

DD, now 2.3 has rarely napped in the day apart from when she was very young - she just fought sleep so am very - particularly at those that manage to get a morning and afternoon nap. It's a long day when you don't get a minute to yourself! On the plus side, she sleeps very well at night and has done since around 4 months old iirc.

Lotster · 14/11/2008 14:52

My son is 2.3 and still enjoying his daytime nap, but yesterday slept till 4ish and I noticed last night he stayed awake for ages after he went down.

Saw HV today for 2 year health check and as I'm due no.2 in 3 months I said I'd like him to continue long as poss! She advised not to let him sleep after 3pm to keep it going. Otherwise night time sleep ets too disturbed. My friends find the girls drop the nap quicker than the boys.

IMO it's good to preserve it long as poss as they are better tempered for it.

ShowOfHands · 14/11/2008 14:54

13/14 months.

You lot don't know you're born.
