Have you called mw lacka? Hope all is well

LackaDAISYcal · 04/10/2008 11:02

Don't want to bother anyone with what is probably a false alarm ceolas. I'll see how I am later when DH gets back (has has taken the kids shopping and then to swimming lessons this morning) so that I could get a bit of a rest.

Posted your nappy yesterday so it should be with you today or Monday

Very sad to see it go as it's gorgeous, but I think bubblegum pink was maybe a bit too much for a boy . I still have a cream coloured hemp one for him.

BigBadMousey · 04/10/2008 11:36

Lacks - hope all is OK.
I had the same thing on and off from about 4 weeks before DS was born . I wasn't worried though because I was 38wks at the time and DD2 was a week early. In the end it turned to frustration when I went past my Due Date. But DO phone the MW if you are even the slightest bit concerned because the worry will do you and your DP no good at all.

ohgod...four weeks of this

I did have horrible BHs from about 33 weeks with DD and was poised to get to hospital several times. I even hoped she would come naturally before my elCS date, but she didn't.

DH back so feeling a bit less wobbly now I have some support here. Bath and clothes on and then we'll see how we are. DH laughing as he thinks I'll say anything to get out of sorting out our junk room office. I can sit and supervise him doing the work

BigBadMousey · 04/10/2008 11:52

Glad your DH is back.

Not neccessarily 4 weeks of it though. With my first two I was on all fours with strong BHs from sbot 33 weeks too - DD1 was on time and DD2 a week early. It was only when it came to the (notoriously awkward) third pregnancy that I had the stop start and numerous shows only for the little man to arrive a few hours before I was due to be induced.

Funny how yo forget it all once they are here though.....

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 04/10/2008 12:06

Mmmm, this is my notoriously difficult third pregnancy too, but as I've never started on my own and although i did the labour with DS after induction; I never did the delivery bit. So, it feels like the first time for me, with a few extra unknowns thrown in for good measure.

I think his head engaged last night though; was very painful and felt like he was coming out there and then, even though the hatch wasn't open yet!

Best get that hospital bag ready today. That's a sure fire way of stopping things going any further

Right off to get on with the day.

Have a good day all

ilovemydog · 04/10/2008 12:18

lacka - the only reason I didn't go into early labor was due to the hospital bag being packed and ready!

Are you using liners? I know that DD had a reaction to the liners, but is OK with Bambino Mio ones. And like me, she's allergic to scented washing powder, so have to use Surcare. Assume you aren't using the devil powder, napisan?

The best newborn diaper imo, is Sandy's extra small. BBM will agree, as she flies the flag for Sandy's!

BigBadMousey · 04/10/2008 15:15

Lacks - Ooops - thought it was your second! In that case, if you're anything like me be (and several others having their third that I read about at the time) be prepared for this to continue for a while . I remember one morning having huge contractions and a show and feeling like he was going to almost fall out there and then (I should be so lucky!). That was 2 weeks before he was born!

Three is fab btw - hold old are your other two? Is this your first DS?

I didn't pack a hospital bag at all when I had the DDs. DH did my first one as the paramedics were putting me in the ambulance = DD1 coming home in thick velvety blue 3-6 month sleepsuit in the middle of a heatwave . With DS, I was all packed and ready to at 38wks - no wonder he was late!

ILMD - Had a bad few days a few weeks ago and cheered myself up by buying a bargainous Organic Sandy (on your recommendation) and it's lovely. Certainly seems more absorbant than the normal cotton and dries quicker than the bamboo

Got it this morning, Lacks, thanks!

Can I please just say...

Everyone get out and buy your baby a Modern Baby Pop-in nappy. Now!

I cannot believe how great this has been, especially overnight. DD has worn it as a night nappy 3 times now (with the dry night booster) and her skin has been completely dry in the morning. I use a fleece liner and it is rather bulky, but completely fab!

If I was convinced they'd do her til potty training I'd go out and buy a whole set right now!

4andnotout · 04/10/2008 17:38

Eek, i have just ordered 6 flexitots,3 wraps and 2 swim nappies online and we already have 73 nappies for 2 babies one of whom isn't even born yet! To be completely honest tho she is taking £60 off the order straight away as my council discount for 2 kiddies. So i only have to pay £38 which is bargainous

Ceolas · 04/10/2008 17:47

But did you get a pop-in?

LackaDAISYcal · 04/10/2008 17:49

that sounds like a bargain 4andnotout..too good to miss imo. I love flexitots and have some size 2s and am wondering whether to get some size 1s for the new bub.....although I have about 20 already.....mostly bimbles, with a few diddy diapers, some old pocket nappies and some little lambs and bumhuggers thrown in for good measure.......plus I hung onto a couple of cottontails which are btp and I have the hemp baby beehinds as well...oh and 5 eco bumbles.

erm make that about 35 nappies already

things have settled down after my restful morning, and we have made good progress on clearing of junk....baby has somewhere to sleep at least should he arrive sooner rather than later.

I have a 6 year old DS, and then DD who is just 16 months (and a real handful).

oops, tea has arrived from the chipshop.

glad you like the baby beehind coelas. they are very thristy with all the boosters in!

ilovemydog · 04/10/2008 17:56

bbm the organic sandy's is one of my favorites. Wonder if your bad days coincided with mine? Am flipping at the moment as DP has been looking after the kids this afternoon while do my volunteer work, and he's taken them to... wait for it... his mothers

rusmum · 04/10/2008 21:29

OK so now i am really p**d off!

  • OK so my nappies leak- still, my 9 week old cries -constantly, my 4 year old is green with envy and cries, sulks, shows off a lot! My DH is jobless, I am worrying about how to make ends meet, I am exhausted as DD will not 'go down', and i have a cold.-

So on top of all that, in the middle of a pretty awful screaming sesion (colic i think) DH says that he 'cant take' (his words) to DD2. She is 9 weeks old for goodness sake.

Am i being unreasonable to expect a little support here??? he never even picks her up.

4andnotout · 04/10/2008 21:30

ceolas i already have a pop in, but i'm in two minds about it, i used it last week and it was great, but today she power wee'd through it. But it could be as she is teething and drinking gallons of water and squash!
lacka i have a dd's of 6,3 and 12 months so not far off your's, must be crazy to be doing it all again! Im due in 3 weeks and havn'tdone anything yet we already have loads of clothes and equipment from dd3 so i just need to rewash and iron it all and put it away somewhere.

4andnotout · 04/10/2008 21:33

rusmum my dp was the same with dp he readily admits that he didn't take to dd3 until she was 4-5 months or so. I did everything for her up until then, he said it was because he was just so afraid of leaving dd1 and dd2 out.

rusmum · 04/10/2008 21:42

4andnotout I couldnt believe my ears. he often refers to her as it. "Oh i's mardy!" etc.....

Am at the end of my tether with everything.

Ceolas · 04/10/2008 21:42

Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time rusmum. Have you got a sling? I found it invaluable for settling DD3 for the first few months.

rusmum · 04/10/2008 21:45

i have yes but it doesnt really help. She only settles very high up on my shoulder , and i have to stand up and jiggle. if i sit down or move her she atsrts.

4andnotout · 04/10/2008 21:47

at his calling her an it! I dont really have any practical advice to offer

ilovemydog · 04/10/2008 21:49

Rusmum - could it be that your DH feels jealous on your DD1's behalf? DP hasn't really bonded with DS (7 months) either...

But your DH really should try and pick her up. Could he take her in a pram for a walk tomorrow to give you a bit of a break? (or if weather is dreadful, somewhere indoors?)

rusmum · 04/10/2008 21:49

i wasn't expexting any, lol. Just needed to blow off some steam. Soeey.

rusmum · 04/10/2008 21:50

god cant even type am soo cross.

rusmum · 04/10/2008 21:56

which best rikkis or prowrap??? (need to top up)

Want to sell - how much would be reasonable to ask for 6 new cb wraps?
