Chellsmum - I wouldn't recommend getting essential oils near your pocket nappies. It can degrade PUL and elastic - both pretty important parts of pocket nappies.

Rusmum My DD1 has just started school too. She was 4 at the end of April. I know what you mean about the homework! DD1 can't wait to do it - I'm the one making all the excuses under the sun

Natty - Bumhuggers are excellent but you will need to do a fair bit of prewashing to get them up to full absorbancy - unless you buy used. They are fully fleece lined and have a pocket for boosting f required. You'll need to tumble them a bit to keep them soft. The popper fit is far superior. Alternatively there is the Easy Peasy Bambeasy which I think you will find is more absorbant than the fluffle. Again go for the popper fit. The Minki huggle is designed as a night nappy but is bulky and not very absorbant for heavy wetters (IMO). Wrap wise I would very much recommend the Motherease Airflow - breatheable, flexible, bombproof and no stiff velcro band so comfy for nights.

pics of pink tots

I got it from a harware shop but woolworths, wilkinsons and places like that do it too.

You just put the dye, 500g of salt and whatever you want to dye in the washing machine and wash at 40degrees. Then rewash.

babyjjbaby · 07/10/2008 20:43

they r luvly is it expensive i want to do bout 5 nappies in blue or green

They look great enchanted! I was thinking of dyeing some motherease which are rather grey. Can you still wash them at 60 degrees or will the colour run?

EnchantedWithEdwardCullen · 07/10/2008 20:53

It says the colour won't run guaranteed.

The dye is about £4.99 that is supposed to do 6 tots bots (600g worth of dry fabric) but Id say it would do about 10.

You need 500g of salt too, but thats cheap enough.

sunflower78 · 07/10/2008 21:02

wow! that's pink! might try on second hand I'm waiting for...

rusmum · 07/10/2008 21:24

sunflower -whats fluffle?

rusmum · 07/10/2008 21:27

hi Essie

4andnotout · 08/10/2008 08:53

Morning all
I can't believe it but my bumhuggers and airflow wraps let me down twice last night, dd3 is drinking so much milk overnight she went through 4 nappies and wraps, plus clothing and bedding I have to try and break her habit of drinking a bottle to settle to sleep as she is up and down all night long and she was soaked several times! She is 12months so doesn't really need the milk overnight and i would love to get some sleep before dd4 arrives in a couple of weeks
enchanted those nappies look fab! Im considering dying some of mine especially as i have some stained bambozles coming that i only paid a pound each for, so if it all went wrong it wouldn't matter too much! I'd be nervous about the colour running! Dp thinks im a nappy ponce now as last night there was a lady pegging out cloth nappies onto a washing line and i said to him "oh arn't her nappies grey! I wouldn't have mine on tv like that!"
Im sure at 26 i should really have more exciting things to get obsessive about

Ceolas · 08/10/2008 09:08

I'm going to attempt to dye a couple of Onelife nappies. Can't decide what colour to go for though

Chellsmum · 08/10/2008 09:33

BBM thanks thats what I thought, but is the vinegar still ok? (my pg brain is making me very forgetful of things!)

sunflower78 · 08/10/2008 09:43

rusmum - here - they're so loooooooovely & super-soft, and come out of the washing machine virtually free, so quite upset they don't work for us (especially as they were the most expensive ones I got, a part from the pop-in trial!) and was sooo looking forward to using them! but I just can't get a good fit on DD's legs . AnnVan though is using them successfully, and the bamboozle I have fits fine too, so don't why the fluffles don't...

rusmum · 08/10/2008 09:49

SUNFLOWER how sweet did they leak for you then??

What size are they? (for what weight range)?

rusmum · 08/10/2008 09:49

if you are selling let me know how much [email protected]

sunflower78 · 08/10/2008 10:01

rusmum - got someone interested, they're letting me know next week, but will let you know if they don't want them.

Essie3 · 08/10/2008 10:31

Hi all, hi rusmum - sorry I haven't replied, I was a zombie yesterday after a bad night. Then yesterday morning a friend pointed out my DS' first tooth... but at not noticing the whole teething process...

BBM what is PUL, and does my pop-ins have any?

Sunflower - and everyone! - don't do what I did and buy a massive 20 pack of pop-ins without selling your other ones first!
I did try to get PIL to buy nappies for Christmas - surely better than clothes, last for longer, will do for any future children as well?? - but no, they thought it was a nasty idea! Have I just become totally immune to the gross side of things? I find washables to be lovely!
So does my Mum - 70s mother herself, she was advocating pampers because of bad times with giant terries, but is back to my side and even tells everyone that I use washables and they should switch! Bizarre because my aunt and cousin (cousin has a 1yo DD) said I was 'so brave'. Uh? I'm saving hundreds of pounds!

Ceolas · 08/10/2008 10:35

Lol at brave, essie! Yes I do thing you become immune to the gross side of things.

Suddenly hit home to me last night when I was browsing usednappies at work. Used nappies??? eh? Anyone looking over my shoulder must have thought I was bonkers!

sunflower78 · 08/10/2008 10:53

essie - nappy fund's hasn't got enough for more nappies atm - once i sell fluffles & sandy's xs plus a couple of other things Igot on ebay, then can afford to! meanwhile got some 2nd hand terries & couple of bamboozles coming to keep me going. just hope the 10% off offer is still running when I got money!

(btw, Mum did't like the sandy's cos of poppers, though i have no probs with them, she preferred muslins, but she loved the pop-in)

wastingmyeducation · 08/10/2008 11:16

My Bumble has arrived. I guess I'll need to wash it a couple times before we trial it. I hope it fits!
I don't think it will rid me of extreme Pop-In lust though.
I left him with a Little Ewe all night, and it was soaked!, Suspect I could have got another hours sleep if he had a more absorbent nappy on.
Am I ok to fold muslins up to boost Bumble? Will that be absorbent enough?

I like my Babeco bamboo squares, very slim, very absorbent, but not very square unfortunately. They stay soft as well, which is great, as even line-dried the Little Ewes are a bit stiff.

xx

Essie3 · 08/10/2008 12:34

Hahaha, pop-in lust! It's a pop-in love fest here. I have 28 of them! And no nappy fund - but I'm not planning on using anything else now.

sunflower78 · 08/10/2008 12:44

Essie - 28!?!?!?! need nappy fund as I've already spent so much on nappies and as I convinced DP on the cost saving angle (in the long run & resale), if I carry on won't be able to use that argument anymore. but at least pop-ins are btp... just rung council as a/form on their site doesn't work, so as soon as I get it and HV signs it I should have £35 in nappy fund... a quarter of the way to the multipack..

so then, what's your favourite colour? I only have pistachio, which I love as it's perfect match of one of DD's dresses, I'd like to have the pumpkin as well...

babyjjbaby · 08/10/2008 12:52

rus mum did u send the nappys recorded i have missed summit from postman but don't know what it is so trying to figure it out

babyjjbaby · 08/10/2008 12:54

its ok figured oty what it is a footmuff must try and remeber what i buy lol

wastingmyeducation · 08/10/2008 13:06

I know what you mean babjjbaby, I had three parcels this morning!

xx

Essie3 · 08/10/2008 13:29

I know - it's excessive...
My favourite colour is the custard, although duck egg is only a hair's breadth away.
I don't like pistachio but possibly because I had an extra one for ages, and just kept seeing pistachio nappies. It's back in favour now. I have 6 of each colour but only 2 of the white because I thought they might not keep their brightness etc as long and will go pug after lots of washing.
Jealous of Enchanted's nappies DH suggested dyeing the white ones. Don't think the wrap bit would take!

One mumsnetter does bright muslins - she's looking for customers if anyone's interested. Good value: 12 for £18 inc. p&p.
