feeling a bit down, mum has gone and really tried hard not to cry at the airport, or since really cos if I start don't kno when I'll stop. it's hard for her, with living so far away an dknowing I have no support here, so even more important I show her I'm fine, but really dreading next week - she's been taking care of school run, cleaning, cooking, mending, fixing, tidying up... and DP won't even think about thinking of maybe moving to italy closer to my parents, plenty of friends and relatives realy to help cos of his parents being older, not that they live close as they live far away and don't see them much either... maybe I'm just a bit low and seeing everything bleak... and hate admitting defeat, but the lovely fluffles just don't work with DD! not even with the nippa, too high on the legs and strangely tight on the waist!? not even folding down the front, legs still too wide, but too bulky and big in front..... guess they have to go and replace them with some pop-ins, at least DP won't have any excuse using them.... sorry about the rant, this is the only place i can do it...

ilovemydog · 05/10/2008 09:13

bbm - hmph! DP was only looking after them for 4 hours .... Today I have to sort out a refrigerator and microwave. We have nothing working in the kitchen. Nothing.

Oh, and he said he was going to his mom's to drop off a load of laundry!!! The washing machine is being connected tomorrow!

Did you get my email?

sunflower 78 - my mom lives in California and it's always difficult when she leaves too

rusmum · 05/10/2008 12:27

AM feeling better today - had a good chat (or stern talking to!!) last night and hopefully dh going to make more of an effort .

BigBadMousey · 05/10/2008 14:05

Sunflower - you'll be fine. The early days are always the hardest but I'm sure you'll get into a routine quickly. Blame it all on the hormones and rant away (that's what MN is for surely ) I'd move to Italy with you! I'd love to move abroad but my DH won't consider it . Fluffles are selling well atm - think of it as 'testing' rather than being defeated

ILMD - No not had an email. Can you resend? I got rid of my spam filter and it's hard to find anything now in amongst all the 'hot sexy woman waiting online for me now' messages

rusmum - Yep Bamboozles are still here. sillious_soddus at hotmail dot co dot uk if you want one. I had a hunt through what I had here but have nothing I can afford to ffp that would suit your DC .

sunflower78 · 05/10/2008 19:47

BBM - thanks, feeling a bit better today... getting fluffles ready to sell...

just thinking of buying some terry squares to keep me going til I save for some pop-ins/pockets. is it worth spending a bit more for bamboo? and what size shall I get - DD's 1 month old today, not a big baby, so 40 or 50 cm? thanks for advice ...

babyjjbaby · 05/10/2008 19:54

i'd be intrested in ur fluffles hun i would go for 50cm or mothercare ones which are thin

BigBadMousey · 05/10/2008 19:59

Sunflower - I really like bamboo squares because they are thin AND absorbant but they do take a surprisingly long time to dry. I'd definitely try one and see what you think. Definitely don't get 40cm squares - they are too small even for tiny ones. I would recommend either mothercare, junior joy, boots own (something budget) as they are thin fitting so good for a small baby - they are all 60cm. If you go down the luxury route you'll get too much bulk I think - even of you get the 50cm. For me I think the bigger the square the easier it is to fold so I stick with 60cm. That said I have some babeco squares here which are 50cm (I think - def not 60cm) - if you want some let me know.

rusmum · 05/10/2008 21:52

babyjj what nappies you sellinh again?? my brain is mush!!

Better with nippas but still pooh leaks.

Do you use pre folds most of time??

Ceolas · 05/10/2008 21:54

babyjj I have nappy nation terry prefolds with fleece. Never figured them out

rusmum · 05/10/2008 21:54

why you need so many???

sunflower78 · 05/10/2008 22:06

baby - I'll sell the whole day pack - size 1 popper with flexy wrap. Only 1 used (after first disappointing try I thought I'd better leave the others just in case as you can only sell new ones on e-bay, and convinced DP to go for them cos I could re-sell them in case); just re-packed the whole set tonight (really gutted they're not working for us cos they're sooooooooooooooooooo soft and been staring at them for 2 months looking forward to using them...).

BBM - how much do you want for them? I'm actually enjoying folding the muslins, but wees are getting more consistant and normally as I'm poppering the wrap... might have a look at the mothercare ones tomorrow as well

(DP's scared I'll fil the house with nappies, as we're having a clearout on e-bay and money will go into nappy fund )

rusmum · 05/10/2008 22:19

oh by the way made 20 fleede liners for £1 today. Bought a fleece baby blanket from poundland and chopped it up. BARGAIN!!

BigBadMousey · 05/10/2008 22:21

Sunflower - not much. How many do you want? I'll check how many I have, what size they are and how much they'll cost to post then get back to you. They haven't been used because DS was a chunky chap and went straight into his shaped nappies (I bought them as a stop gap in case he was tiny like his sisters)

OP posts:
Ceolas · 05/10/2008 22:23

Am about to buy a fleece wrap. Never tried one. Bad idea?

rusmum · 05/10/2008 22:26

ceolas no idea but let us know. LOL

How much money are you all spending on nappies, it is so addictive.

Babyjjbaby what you selling again. Brain gone to mush... sorry Do you use pre folds most of the time? Why you need so many??

BBM is bamboo the way to go then?? Bamboo suuares sound good..

BigBadMousey · 05/10/2008 22:28

Been eBay trawling....

If anyone fancies a gamble on some btp pockets then have a look at these. They work out very cheap even with the postage and the feedback looks good. Worst btp pocket I have used leaked about 30-40% of the time (Mommy's Touch). These may work really well - feedback on them is good but how many times were they used before the feedback was left ?

Also to go with the current topic of conversation - check out the funky prefold!

OP posts:
BigBadMousey · 05/10/2008 22:29

ceolas - bad idea. Not 100% waterproof - you know that right? Bulky too....

OP posts:
sunflower78 · 05/10/2008 22:29

BBM - not sure! suppose it depends how many you have! running out of real nappies quickly, and guess even quicker next week as the XS sandy's are just fitting and not lasting long, but the sm sandy's still feel a bit loose (was relying on fluffles...)
