Take a very well behaved and small dog around the block for a walk on her own? Doesn't involve crossing any roads, and takes about 5 minutes.

my dd -aged 9 - says this depends if your dd is sensible - and also they must take a bagwith them in case the dog poops

My DD is 9, I would trust her to walk the dog but I would be worried about other dogs that might be out.

My dog was mauled by another dog several years ago, he had to have emergency surgery after bleeding from the ear.
I wouldn't even walk the dog after that happened!
