Reading though the conversations on Mumsnet, you occasionally come across an amazing feat of motherhood. I thought it might be interesting to collect all these stories together into a 'Mumsnet Book Thread of Records'!!!

Was your baby very tiny, or very large (mine was 10lb 4oz, but there are loads of bigger wrigglers out there!)?
Was your newborn 3 feet tall?
Was your baby born at 24 weeks?
Did you give birth in your early teens, or at 50+?
Were your babies born 9 months apart, or did you leave a 20 year gap?
Do you have quintuplets? sextuplets?
Have you given birth 37 times? etc..etc...

Come on, lets hear your stories about all the amazing mums and babies out there!

Ah, he was EMCS - but there was no way he was coming out naturally. He had a ring round his head and one ear had grown bent over from being so squished in my pelvis. Any future baby would be a caesar for different medical reason, but not relevant yet as TTC'ing!

GentleOtter · 18/08/2008 19:11

I only have 3 dc but it feels like I've had 37.

megglevache · 18/08/2008 19:16

I bet nobody's 15 month old is as teeny as mine at 14lbs.

She was 7lbs 10oz at birth- I do feed her honestly.

Narkymum/mummy has just given birth to her 10th child.

Previous record holder was juule.

My ds was born on his due date, ermm, with both my waters breaking was the first sign of labour. Think I'm scraping the barrel here!

WedgiesMum · 18/08/2008 19:30

DS was 11lb 2 oz and 62 cm long - is that any good? Oh and no stitches and my sister (who is a midwife) assures me I have a 'fanny like a bucket'

DD weighed 8lb 8 oz and lost 1lb 8 oz before she started to gain weight is that a record??

FrannyandZooey · 18/08/2008 19:34

Ds2 was 14 days overdue, but I've seen longer pregnancies on here

JodieG1 · 18/08/2008 19:43

Ds2 was born after an hour and 10 mins of labour, I think that was what they had on my notes and he was posterior. My waters broke at 22 weeks with him and I spent the rest of my pregnancy on bedrest. He was born a happy and healthy 8lb 2, the same weight I was born at.

Dd was born at 36 weeks weighing 5lb 14 and a half after about 3 hours of labour and spent a week in scbu.

Ds1 was born at 38 weeks after a 2 and a half hour labour and weighed 7 lb 14 and a half. I was told the day before by my consultant that he was a 6 pounder

Tutter · 18/08/2008 19:44

i had the biggest piles

goingslowlymad · 18/08/2008 19:49

I seem to spend my life doing things out of the ordinary.

smallest baby 2lbs 11oz but deffo seen smaller on here

got pregnant with first baby at 13 - must be younger ones than I was here

married a man 17 years older than me but again seen larger age gaps here.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 18/08/2008 19:56

megglevache my dd1 didnt weight a stone untill she was nearly two!!!! she is 4.9 and weighs 2s4!! do i win skinniest child?

i had a really long labour with dd1, started on sun night dd1 was n=born on tuesday morning and was 6lb despite being a week late.

i bet i also have the naughtiest dc's and the most beautifull of course

christywhisty · 18/08/2008 20:19

Do I get the record for spending the longest time in hospital having a baby? I was in for 49 days with preeclampsia. Went in at 32 weeks on 30th July, Ds was born 13th September and I think I came out on 17th September.

Both DD and DS weighed 6lb 7oz. DD was born at 37 weeks with no complications.
They were also born within a few minutes of each other (but 2 years 5 days apart) at 20.42 and 20.47.

Bronze · 18/08/2008 20:20

I can do extremes dc1 was 9 lb 14
dc 3 was 2lb 12.

There are smaller and larger but I'm probably in contention for largest difference.

mamalovesmojitos · 18/08/2008 21:14

oh god christy that must have been SOOOOOOOOO boring. you poor thing.

i would guess that i have the worst stretch marks on my tummy. phenomenal things.

Bronze · 18/08/2008 21:25

Oh Christy thats ages you must have been so so bored. I managed just over a month and it was hell especially with missing dss. I can't imagine a couple more weeks on top of that.

christywhisty · 18/08/2008 21:43

I was lucky as I didn't have any other dc's at the time. I was quite a long way from friends and relative so couldn't count on many visitors. DH was a saint and came everyday despite working a long day and then having an hour drive afterwards. He wasn't getting home until 10 every night. But I ended up with a beautiful baby boy so it was worth it in the end.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 18/08/2008 21:45

Only read OP, my first two were

10ob 10oz and 10ib* 4oz !!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone says ouch, my stepmum didn't believe DH when he phoned her from the hospital!!

Does that count? Can I join?

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 18/08/2008 21:46

sorry, have had a few glasses of wine, not sure which measurement obs and ibs come from, is it imperial or metric????!!

Lizzylou · 18/08/2008 21:47

DS2 was 10lb 11oz, ventouse delivery, was v painful

ImForeverBlowingBuble · 18/08/2008 21:49

My dd2 was born/caught after 50 minutes of labour

ChasingSquirrels · 18/08/2008 21:51

I know my 15min labour isn't quite the quickest on MN, but I'll add it in anyway

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 18/08/2008 21:51

Weegle, much respect to you!

luckylady74 · 18/08/2008 21:54

My 3 dc were heavy considering their prematurity (exact dates as ivf). Ds1 was 9 lbs9oz at 37 weeks- 1 day off being classed as premature. Dtwins were 6 lbs and 7 lbs at 35 weeks. As none of them had any health problems and all natural birth I'm quite glad I didn't go full term!

Curlylox · 18/08/2008 22:12

My DS 8lb 1oz born in August 1989 and DD 9lb 12oz (don't get me started about my stitches) born September 2004. 15 years age gap!

ILikeYourSleeves · 18/08/2008 22:19

I was in labour for FOUR long days before DS was born, contractions 5-10 mins apart that whole time, nada sleep other than about 1 minute at a time in the bath. So had severe sleep deprivation and actually hallucinated for days after the birth- mighty weird too!

Elibean · 19/08/2008 08:10

No, but.......loudest? I think dd2 might qualify...
