How you know you're very definitely a mum and no longer a fabulously cool thrusting happening young thing...

Singing along to the Wombats single and replacing 'Let's dance to Joy Division...' with 'Call the Koala Brothers...'

Any others?

snooks · 20/07/2008 20:55

when you get a lovely feeling inside watching your washing blowing on the line

MakemineaGandT · 20/07/2008 20:56

when you walk along the street on your own and don't know what to do with your hands - no pram, no tiny hands to hold etc

pedilia · 20/07/2008 20:58

These are hilarious and so true!

pedilia · 20/07/2008 21:00

snooks- oh how true

When your ex dh says (as mine did when I said, do you reckon I can go to the supermarket wearing this?) "you're a middle aged woman, no-one's looking at you"

PatsyCline · 20/07/2008 21:01

When (on your return to work after maternity leave) you foolishly tell your work team of Fabulously Cool Thrusting Young Things that you love dancing so much that you now regularly recreate a club at home by playing very loud music on headphones and dancing alone in the dark and, rather than admiring your joie de vivre , the entire team of FCTYTs look at you with complete horror.

That was eight years ago and I am sure that some of them are now parents and following my sad, sad example.

I haven't read all of these yet, so don't know if this has already been mentioned...........

When you call your DH "Dad".

Goober · 20/07/2008 21:02

.......even when the kids aren't around.

PatsyCline · 20/07/2008 21:02

Oh no, Goober, you mustn't!

motherinferior · 20/07/2008 21:02

You shout 'whoops' at small children falling over. Small children not yours.

Edam and I did this together the other day

Although actually poor old Edam found herself in this role a few years earlier when she - then the mother of a baby in nappies - found herself having to wipe DD1's bottom .

Goober · 20/07/2008 21:03

It is habit.
I am also called "Mum".

MakemineaGandT · 20/07/2008 21:05

when you genuinely think: "Facebook, what's the point ?"

(and can anyone answer that please...?)

lou33 · 20/07/2008 21:05

lol mi , i did that the other day

jojosmaman · 20/07/2008 21:32

When your sky plus is taken over by Balamory and Brum.

When you watch Ten Years Younger for tips rather than to laugh at Nicky Hambilton-Jones's obsession with waist cinching belts.

When you announce loudly with a completely straight face that you "are going to have the asparagus to start, followed by the chick-chick" on a meal out with friends

daffodill6 · 20/07/2008 21:37

Don't get me started on facebook! or any other social 'i'm having more fun than u site'

Must be age related = some like to do the round robin at xmas about how brill the year has been... others let u know all the time... Unfortunately I've experienced losing friends and loved ones and whilst I'm sure bebo etc is great for teens I remain to be convinced about facebook for 'more mature participants'....

Think I may have hijacked --- sorry

When you catch vomit in your hands without batting an eyelid.

When you finally go on a night out, you reach in your bag to find your purse to pay for the drinks at the bar. And pull out a wedge of duck bread.

When you go to the cinema for the first time in eight years - to see Kung-Fu Panda!

when you think that by dancing vigorously to the wiggles you might get fit and lose weight

"it's a pirate party"

DonDons · 20/07/2008 21:56

when you have been humming away merrily to yourself and then realise it was humpty dumpty or similar you were humming (and the baby is asleep in another room)

when you haven't done your hair for three days and your t-shirt is covered in baby dribble but you still go to the shops and don't care what you look like

Seuss · 20/07/2008 21:57

When having a wee with the door locked is 'quality time'.
