Appropriate for a 14 year old girl

Can anyone validate us by agreeing that this Halloween outfit is not appropriate for a 14 year old girl for a Halloween house party? Child says we are being unreasonable as her other friends are allowed to wear similar clothes/outfits.
she has also stated that she won’t wear the gloves and take the whip if this allows her to wear this outfit.

I would be unhappy with my daughter wearing that and she is nearly 19! Absolutely inappropriate for a 14yr old

Oh god no

Id say sure you can wear it but you'll have to order one for me too. Oh and I'll check what size Dad wants. Where is it we're all going...time and date

Ps we've all been kids who said "but everyone else is allowed" when noone was.

strugglinguphill · 08/10/2026 14:34

Absolutely not! That’s awful!

Hmm, no, my 14 year old wouldn’t be wearing that as it is. Cat woman maybe. No to the boots or the whip and she’d have to choose different tops and shorts. Who with and where will she be whilst wearing it?

Agree with you, you are NOT being unreasonable! Ask her to keep looking and I'm sure she'll find something suitable. I doubt all her friends will be allowed to wear things like that anyway.

DiscombobulatedHedgehog · 08/10/2026 14:37

Well there’s no way any of my girls would be allowed to wear that! I’ve managed to get 3 DDs safely through to adulthood and none of them would have been allowed, I’ve 2 still to go and they also definitely won’t be. No way.

In an ideal world, yes, we should all be able to wear whatever we want and still remain safe but the reality is we don’t live in that world.

Favouritefruits · 08/10/2026 14:43

Of course it’s not appropriate, but is it something I’d of worn at 14…yes! I think lots of the girls will wear outfits that leave little to the imagination but doesn’t mean it’s right.

No but I’ve seen the outfits my son’s friends wear, i said it doesn’t mean it’s right. I wouldn’t let my daughter wear it if I had one but girls that age do wear stuff like that 😬

Like ridiculously skimpy cheerleader/school girl outfits and whatnot they are definitely aimed at adults but they do wear them. I’m definitely not implying I think it’s ok to wear but girls that she do wear that kind of thing 😳

msmillicentcat · 08/10/2026 14:48

My daughter and her friends would probably choose this. I would say no, definitely inappropriate. It would likely cause an argument and then we would compromise. She would probably end up taking it in her bag and wearing it anyway.

Screamingabdabz · 08/10/2026 14:50

That’s s&m wear - I think it’s ugly on any age of woman.

If it was my dd I’d be brutal and show her pictures of the sort of dregs who would get very excited about a 14 year old old in S&M gear and ask her if that’s the sort of horror she was going for?

Yep she’ll hate you, but one day she’ll thank you.

Hilarious OP.

CleverRedMentor · 08/10/2026 14:52

I am using this to show to the 14 year old. Meant validating in a way to show our teenager that it isn’t just us who think the same.

Is that a whip? 🙈

It's not an appropriate outfit for a 14 year old. Children shouldn't wear outfits designed for sex kinks.

I'd suggest she looks for something else.

Superhansrantowindsor · 08/10/2026 14:56

Of course it’s not appropriate. If you don’t want her to wear it just tell her. She’s a child.
