Partner said we don't get 'breaks' as parents

Partner said we 'dont get breaks as parents' when I went to the gym this afternoon during nap time (gym was closed so I went to some shops instead which apparently was unacceptable I should have come home). He got out of bed at 11:30 today and our 13 month old was up from 7.

How would you react to this.

Ah his point was I didn't rush back when I saw the gym was shut to help him sort through the cupboard 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

That sounds like something my mum would say 😂 but in a healthy relationship parents DO get breaks. In fact, I think a break makes you a better parent because you're not so burnt out and in a partnership they should support this because they should care about your wellbeing.
It doesn't sound like you were gone for long anyway if it was the same duration as the gym. If your child was napping as well, it's not like he was struggling at all? He's sounding a bit controlling here.. that you can go gym but nowhere else?!
You're being honest with him saying it wasn't open but I bet you wish you hadn't even mentioned it now with an outbreak like that. Some men do this because it's an excuse that they can then "storm off", have loads of free time to themselves and then blame it all on you..
