They're dtwin boys nearly 5 and dd 31/2. It's a kids club showing of Enchanted. Dps idea but I'm quite excited(don't get out much these days).

So I've viewed the trailer should be ok shouldn't it, not too scary??

It's at a Vue cinema, how much do they charge these days for popcorn??? Do they sell anything vaguely cheap as snacks????Suspecting not, we're good at sharing but hope we won't all have to share 1 thing of popcorn as that would be a bit sad Would I be allowed to take the kids drink bottles with water in???

What exactly is a kids club????

They won't search too far if you pile nappies/wipes/sticky things on top.

Have never been searched at our vue.

Amapoleon · 20/06/2008 20:24

don't let them know there is a loo or you will spend the whole film in there

TurkeyLurkey · 20/06/2008 20:24

Smuggle in your own drinks in your handbag (squashy bag type ones are the best ..are they called Capri or something??? but they squash nicley into your handbag), buy one big bag of popcorn there and take 3 sandwich type bags in your handbag to share them out into.

Also take your own bag big of maltesers or whatever.

(Yes I am practised at avoiding those rip off prices!)

Enchanted is great by the way!

LyraSilvertongue · 20/06/2008 20:25

Our cinema (an Odeon) does kids snack bags with a little pack of popcorn, a Fruit Shoot chocolate and a toy. Costs about £2.50 each. Maybe yours will do something similar.

MilaMae · 20/06/2008 20:30

Thanks for that will stock up on freezer bags and Haribos. It does look good, hope we get to see it all

Enchanted is a great film, I loved it, mild peril only and mostly over their heads.
Take your own drinks in your handbag so you cab buy, sweets/popcorn.
Kidsclub means that either kids or adults (can't remember which) get in very cheap.

MilaMae · 20/06/2008 20:38

You're scaring me now Mutt, I'm presuming a kid's club showing will be a pretty lively event so we should fit in

Dp's organising this-smirks!!!!

i wouldn't worry they will be too busy running up and down the aisles.

janeite · 20/06/2008 20:45

You'll be fine. We always take our own snacks; if I can be bothered I make popcorn before we go and put it into plastic cups when we get there, otherwise we buy it in Woolies.

DD2 went for the first time aged 18 months and was quiet all the way through with a little packet of Magic Stars (gasp; bad mother alert!!!).

Small cartons of juice or screw top bottles of water or squash are better than the cinema drinks as well as cheaper, as less likely to spill. Have fun!

smartiejake · 20/06/2008 22:00

I never buy the rip off prices at the cinema and slways take in my own drinks and sweets. We are never challenged.

DD (12) had a party last week where we took 14 kids to the cinema (gasp!) I gave them all a fruit shoot [ducks as outraged mnetters throw rotten tomatoes but they were BOGOF!] and a party bag of sweets that I had bought at the local factory shop to take in with them telling them to hide them in their bags/ under their tops on the way in!

Cost of sweets and drinks for 14 children was about £8. Cost if I bought from the cinema- £30!

Flobberghasted · 20/06/2008 22:01

taqke water
and get one HUGE bozx of popcorn and then nab two small ones

mila we took DTs age 4 to vue kids club showing of enchanted too, we took our own snacks/drinks in my bag - the family behing us had 3 morrisons carriers full of sweets, crisps etc hope you enjoyed it!

KarenThirl · 21/06/2008 13:36

I'm a bit surprised that some people expect to be searched in case they've got food on them.

Our local cinemas have notices up saying that you're not allowed to take HOT food in but that's all and I think that's fair.

I always try to time our visits with lunchtime showings so we take a packed lunch and eat it while the adverts and trailers are on so we don't disturb others during the film. I rarely buy anything at the cinema other than the occasional ice cream.

arfishy · 21/06/2008 14:10

I always take in my own stuff, I'd much rather DD ate that than the over-priced junk they sell at the cinema.

Prepare your own and if challenged mutter something about allergies.

pagwatch · 21/06/2008 14:46

My DS1 and his class always go to the cinema with one particular friend who lends them his health alert band and epi pen if they get searched. .
My DS2 has mahoosive allergies and I have been loud and strident enough times at the local cinema that they never search us now.

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2008 15:28

We even make our own popcorn to take in! And it's much healthier too!

Aniyan · 21/06/2008 15:37

We always take our own stuff - even if it means a trip to Woolies first for a (tiny!) bag of pick & mix. Cinema food's a rip-off. I've never heard of anyone being searched before - I'm quite shocked at the idea!

Ds has a carton of juice and a few sweets (in a plastic box to avoid noisy bag-rustles during the film!) and I take a small flask of tea and some top-quality chocolate

UnquietDad · 21/06/2008 15:37

I've never heard of people being searched at the cinema! Does this happen??! I'd be outraged!
