Didn’t know it was inset day !

Sent kids to school today when it was a bloody inset day ! I did check the return dates but obviously missed it . Kids were ok but l feel like such an idiot ..I have older kids and they are 14 so lm not new to this …what the hell is wrong with me .

Life is busy and it gets completely overwhemling tracking the 5000000 emails andmessages from the school.

Did the DC's father notice? Or feel bad? I bet not. Don't give yourself a hard time. It happens.

Ha- I once phoned the bus company to ask where the bus was and they told me that term finished the day before 🤣

They won't be the only ones. I once went in on an inset day just for SLT, fortunately I only lived 5 mins away. Brazened it off as I was bringing in things for my classroom had a coffee and went home.

I have done this. Don't worry you won't do it again! A lot of people forget

I did the reverse - DC1’s high school had an inset day and the other local primary had an inset day but not ours. I volunteered there, so god knows how I buggered the dates up.

We went to London for the day.

Got a phone call from the younger DCs’ school when we were in the Natural History Museum. “God, you’re keen, ringing on a training day! What can I do for you <school office assistant >?”

Erm…

There are always kids at school on inset days.

I had no idea we had an inset day today until last night. Got the kids showered and in pjs early. Uniform all ready for the morning and was making packed lunches when one of the school mums messaged.
I’m usually on it with school term dates but I didn’t have a clue. I’d have sent them this morning if I didn’t get a text last night.

Luckily our school send a back to school info reminder on Sunday.

Haha! Yesterday afternoon at 5pm I sent a message to my younger son's class Whatsapp list, innocently asking why the lunch bookings weren't open yet. I only learned then that they had an inset day today. Whilst I was thinking about how to get my older one to school without waking the younger one, someone posted that that school also had an inset day. So rather than having a relaxed first day back at the office I am working from home today. I have declared it an official tablet day :-)!
Three years ago I took my older son to school a day early after the summer break. He was surprisingly forgiving then... not so much now I think!

I did this once- January 2020, so it should have been an omen about how that year would go It felt worse,because her older sister was still at home because I knew she wasn't back til the next day .

Got dd2 up and dressed , thought it was suspiciously quiet at the school when we got there. Only twigged when one of the parents(who was also a TA ) turned up - without her ds, who was in dd2's class

lm not blaming the school but normally we get email and/or text reminders ( for EVERY-damn thing ! ) but nothing for today . It was on the website but below the term return dates and although l checked , l missed it …just embarrassed .

I did this last year. Was just near the school and a random dog walker must have realised we were walking to school and shouted over to us it was closed 🤣. Back home we went with my DC telling whoever we passed how silly I was 🫢

Forgot it was inset day and took them in and thought it was weird no kids or parents were milling about

And thought there was an inset day when there wasn't and we were in the cinema when i got the "your child has not arrived" text at 11.30am 🤣 just ignored it as I was so mortified and thought ill just grovel the next day but it was never mentioned 😬

I die this dropped dd at kerbside at 8am to take self into breakfast club got half way to work when school called me to point out was a training day so had to quickly ring boss and explain my urgent child care issue.....
Also sent her in dressed in an amazing costume for world book day a day early....
And forgot to pick her up from nursery once.....
She's now a fully grown adult and she laughs about having a mad mum

Ho hum, I got up early and dressed and everything this morning ready to go in. I work in a school and had no idea today was an inset day. Luckily I checked for weather updates before I left and noticed the closed schools thing , thought I'd check my school website to find oh it's not closed for weather but inset. Fml

I wouldn’t worry too much - my mum sent us in on various inset days, in uniform on non uniform day, used to forget to return permission slips for school trips and then have to grovel to get us allowed on… can confirm we’re all well rounded adults now who still think we had a fantastic (just overworked) mum

Someone sent me the original dates from the school ..sent on 9th Dec… so l must have deleted it with all the Christmas nonsense in my inbox as it didn’t show up when l searched …
