School readiness check - behind

Just received the school readiness check (DS starts in September 2025) and it does seem he’s quite behind where he should be in some areas, mostly social / communication and fine motor.

My main question is regarding what happens next, is this information shared with the school he will go to, or is it just sort of hanging out there?

@secondeleventh I appreciate that. I meant more if he has SaLT delays and needs support - the same concept applied. You’ll be stalled and fobbed off and bounced from department to department for as long as people can get away with it because the funding just isn’t there.

Also, when he has a transition meeting/home visit with his new teacher at the end of the summer/in September, make sure you share your concerns with them too, and any support he has had/you think he needs. Good luck!

Thank you. He has an appointment for the questionnaire in a couple of weeks. I’m really hoping he was just being a bit silly / not listening properly to me. I’ll update.

Honestly he does sound a bit behind the average but lots of kids are. It might be something or nothing just later developer . I would ring your public health nurse and get the ball rolling as it can take a long time. Honestly I'd l make a note of all your concerns and include absolutely everything.
In the mean time I'd model speech to him when ever you can ie now we are emptying the dishwasher. Putting on our shoes etc. it does help.

Look up DLD disorder. Could be a language/processing issue
