Would you let your toddler wee in a bush if they were desperate?

We let our children, if we are out and miles away from a loo go in a discreet bush but just wondered if this was acceptable or considered bad parenting?

better than them peeing their pants, surely? I'd pee in a bush if I had to...

Bellie · 08/04/2008 21:34

I let dd if we are miles from the loo.

Yes, it is fine.

tassisssss · 08/04/2008 21:34

definately ok IMO!

snowleopard · 08/04/2008 21:35

It's pretty much the norm from what I've seen, and yes I would. Have seen pooing in a bush as well.

snickersnack · 08/04/2008 21:35

Yes, I would. Without a second thought.

nervousal · 08/04/2008 21:35

I'd let my DD pee anywher outside if she was desperate - don't worry about discrete lol

oliviaelanasmum · 08/04/2008 21:35

I do! DD2 loves having the fresh air on her bits when she has to have a wee at the seaside etc!

onepieceoflollipop · 08/04/2008 21:35

Imo if there is genuinely no other option and you are discreet probably ok. (not sure of official mnet policy - no doubt others will enlighten you shortly)

I personally don't like to see it if (for example) the parents are very near to the loos in the park etc and it's a case of can't be bothered. With a very newly potty trained child fair enough, I'm talking older children here.

peggotty · 08/04/2008 21:35

Of course!!!

I can still remember my mum hoisting me aloft to pee behind trees etc - it's an essential part of childhood!

Chuffinnora · 08/04/2008 21:35

I do. Easier with a boy though. DD always peed on her shoes.

AdamAnt · 08/04/2008 21:36

Yes I do. It's either that or walk around with a soggy DC. As far as I'm concerned, if people are happy for dogs to pee all over the place, they can;t really object to a sneaky toddler wee.

specialmagiclady · 08/04/2008 21:36

My DS1 has "wee wees against a tree wee"s ALL the time. In the park, in the street, in the garden. He's like a puppy.

[Trying to start encouraging him to hang on now, but he's not very reliable so at the mo just let him go wherever...]

tiredandgrumpy · 08/04/2008 21:36

Definitely. dh has told ds that he's making the tree grow, so ds is rather too happy to do so these days. Did it by a tree in the middle of a very nice park last summer. I pretended not to know him until all was over!

jingleyjen · 08/04/2008 21:36

yep,

princessmel · 08/04/2008 21:36

I do, they wee everywhere.

onepieceoflollipop · 08/04/2008 21:37

Fair point about dogs. The same point could be made for grown men who have perhaps had one to many drinks in the pub!! If they can get away with it then fair enough for little children.

S1ur · 08/04/2008 21:37

Yep.

spamm · 08/04/2008 21:39

Yes - we call them "wild wees" and ds sometimes asks to do them even when there is a toilet to hand. I try to discourage that however, I don't think there is any need to wee in your own garden .

tulip27 · 08/04/2008 21:39

ok, how about going on a potty if your out shopping and child wont make it to the loo, I'm talking about one of those portable potty things?

peanutbear · 08/04/2008 21:40

yes its better than in my car

terriblyashamed · 08/04/2008 21:40

Of course! Not bad parenting. Little children don't think ahead. My ds pees in the road (over a drain, I might add) more often than not on his way home from nursery and its only a 5 minute walk. He simply doesn't think about having a wee at nursery before leaving just incase he needs a wee on the way home.

IdrisTheDragon · 08/04/2008 21:41

I think DS has once weed outside but he really wasn't happy about it. DD has once weed in a potty discretely by the car. Think I have children with quite large bladders .

Desiderata · 08/04/2008 21:42

Mine does it anywhere he likes.

Last year, ds, db and df all pissed against the same tree at motorway services.

Ds was two, db was 42, df was 65. It was such a touching sight, I took a photo
