Would you let your toddler wee in a bush if they were desperate?

We let our children, if we are out and miles away from a loo go in a discreet bush but just wondered if this was acceptable or considered bad parenting?

yes, then there is a risk that they will wee on your shoes

FrannyandZooey · 12/04/2008 09:19

yes too true
it is a knack and you need strong arms to hold them AWAY
I hope I have another boy

of course, who wouldn't?

Agree Madame Z - we need more loos for adults too!!!

dd went through a phase of having to wee EVERY time I took her to the park when she was 2 to 3 yrs - I never quite managed to get that sitting/holding technique right .... ended up with pee on my shoes ...fortunately her bladder's more reliable now ...

(I've got one of those tommy tippi portable potties for poos (try saying that after a couple of margheritas )... don't buy the expensive refills though ... jsut make do with ordinary nappy bags + sanitary towel (with glue strip thing)... works just as well - good to have in car for unexpected travel sickness too)

I thought it was bad parenting... only until I had children myself, though (get my come-uppance once again...).

I was walking once in the lakes with dd and when I really needed a poo. Being in the middle of nowhere there was no lpublic toilet. I decided to have what i thought was a discrete poo. Mid wipe i looked up to discover a party of abseilers hovering above my head watching my every move with a mixture of disgust and amusement.

rofl twinset.
Of course it's fine - I let my toddler do it in London, there are no public toilets anywhere so what else to do

MUM2BLESS · 05/05/2008 17:55

My youngest is 3, I dont really like letting him wee outside. Sometimes I ask him if he wants to go to the toilet before we leave out. Sometimes he doesn't until we are out on our journey. Rather that him wet himself I let him wee outside.

A good idea for your little boys woould be to have a spare plastic bottle that you could use for emergencies!!

Yes. It has only happened once, but it's OK in emergencies.

YeahBut · 05/05/2008 18:04

Al fresco wees is the description here. When you've got to go, you've got to go!

seeker · 05/05/2008 18:12

What could the objection possibly be?

Buckets · 05/05/2008 18:18

Yes and if they did a poo I'd bag it up. Same as dogs.

CorrieDale · 05/05/2008 18:21

Yes. If I can ever persuade him to dump the nappies, then I'll let him pee anywhere outside!
