Sick of the Naked Bike Ride

Hello I'm posting about the York- World Naked Bike Ride ob 29th June 2023 @ 4.15pm. This year I've decided enough is enough and as a York mum I'm going to go along and tell them so (North Yorkshire police have also been informed).

Having your cock and balls (overwhelming majority of naked participants are men) out in public isn't OK on any other day of the week - even if they are virtuous, net zero, climate saving ones.

No one really believes it's OK for adults to parade around naked in front of families and children in public without their consent and why should we have to stay at home? So this year I'll be there to collect evidence and respectfully handing out some pants.

@sunglassesonthetableIf nudity is just nudity then why can't naked men just not wander into Debenhams for an innocent gawp at the bras? It's all very innocent after all - apparently.

@SirChenjins They can. Though why men would want to be naked to gawp at bras is unclear. Why bras/ Why naked? Why not just log into Pornhub at home?

There is no law against being naked in public.
It's only an offence if someone complains about you. OR if the shop owner feels it's offensive and ask you to dress. A shop is private property,. unlike the highway.

So why naked on a bike?

If being naked is no big deal, why shouldn't your kids' scout leaders be naked? Their teachers? Your boss? Your MP? Your mum at your wedding?

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 20/05/2024 12:37

You have my sympathies. I wouldn’t want see some crusty old man’s cock whilst out and about and I certainly wouldn’t want my daughters having an eye full.

Does it matter? I most particularly don’t want to see naked men it public.

Men are massively and overwhelmingly more likely to be sexual predators and fetishists than women. That’s just statistics.

In areas where people regularly hang out naked- naturist camps and European saunas, Icelandic showers- I find it uncomfortable but not alarming.

And while a group cycling past may offer only a passing flash of nudity, there’s a point where they gather and saddle up where it’s much less discreet.

It may have been a laudable protest initially. Some may still be there for political reasons.

Anyone who thinks the rest of them aren’t flashers and fetishistic attention seekers is naive.

It’s purpose is to make people look.

"Men are massively and overwhelmingly more likely to be sexual predators and fetishists than women. That’s just statistics."

So you are saying that women are not???

"Anyone who thinks the rest of them aren’t flashers and fetishistic attention seekers is naive."

Really???

I don’t know of any figures for fetishists, but men are overwhelmingly more likely to be sexual predators that women.

Although I don’t know the stats, of fetishes that come instantly to my mind, many are exclusively or overwhelmingly for men. So I wouldn’t be surprised if many more men than women had fetishes. I went to a talk by a woman who works with people who want help to overcome their fetish, and certainly all the cases she talked of were men.

What the actual fuck is this? I live in Yorkshire and never knew about this. Obviously have been living under a stone all this time. Thanks for giving the heads up so I can NOT head in that direction with my children. Jesus. Why would you?

Why is it not banned?
If it was where I live, I'd be in touch with the council etc and tell them to get a ban and tell the local paper to push for a ban

They could easily hire a venue and do the cycle ride there, IMO as this kind of thing will catch many out unawares

With us its live and let live and we've been to a beach in England and as we walked up towards it as we were not aware, the signs were clear so you made an informed decision. This cycle ride is not an informed decision for many if to go to town with family or not, IMO

Why has the locals not demanded that this event cancelled??

Monochord · 20/05/2024 13:15

And for all those insisting it’s 50/50 women, I’ve looked at the links, and googled some photos of these events in the UK and in all of the photos the cyclists are massively, overwhelmingly men. And what’s more, the men are massively more likely to be completely naked and the women massively more likely to have their genitals covered and usually breast too.

Who said 50/50?? There must be several when you said "those"

From what I have seen of naturist beaches in England, I'd say 75% are men

Talking about this with a friend at work - abroad, on hols, the ratio is more evenly split but its always more men than women

I recall the time we approached a naturist beach in England the days before the internet etc - I noted a few works vans, ie possibly some guys skiving work,

ittakes2 · 20/05/2024 13:26

I'm with you. I just googled it to see what the fuss was about and most of the pictures which came up from it had been posted on porn websites. There is likely some people with genuine motives but there is also likely a lot of people who will be getting their sexual kicks from it.

Not kept a score, but there have been posters repeatedly defending this with ' women too' and definitely read ' 50/50'

These are attempts to pretend this is not an event overwhelming of interest to men. Yet, from theses organisers own footage, it clearly is an event overwhelmingly of interest to men. Both in terms of the vastly disproportionate number of men who attend. And the vastly disproportionate number of totally naked men to totally naked women.

Bit like yoga is overwhelmingly attended by women until its naked yoga, where the sex ratio reverses.

Why is that, do you think?

I think this is one of the things where the algorithm serves up images from the type of sites the device you are on is frequently connecting you to.

Of the first 200 mages when I tried, only 2 were from porn sites (and that was after much scrolling). Most came from news sites.

Beyond that, when the hits got more random, they moved to other protest or celebrational bike rides (usually costumed)

So you can't, not even one post. Thanks for nothing.

To say "50/50" is ludricous juging by what I have seen and done a bit of research into these so-called bike raised. However, you implied that more than one has said 50/50, hence my question to you.

Not to worry, take care - FYI, I'm with you and these bike rides would not be allowed in towns/etc as it stops many people from going about their business as they would feel uncomfortable and its even worse for those that have kids

I'm still not sure why these rides are allowed in built up areas.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/05/2024 13:40

Hilarious really OP you are getting so much shit here however if I was having a private conversation about how humans can't change sex and someone overheard that and reported it I'd likely get PC Prat knocking on my door for a hate incident

But cock and balls out where anyone can see them - all just fun and games

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/05/2024 13:41

Tosstyhat · 19/05/2024 12:30

Hang on, why are we saying it's ok to ride a bike naked but flashing is an offence? Surely they're both subjecting unwilling people to seeing the genitalia of others?

This

DontforgetyourSPF · 20/05/2024 13:49

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/05/2024 13:41

This

In case you didn't know @tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz and @Tosstyhat flashing is a sexually violent act, meant to frighten and intimidate women. The penis is often erect and the man is masturbating.

How you can begin to compare that with a bike ride in a city centre, where half the cyclists are women, (naked) is unclear.

Protest all you want - but it won't make a jot of difference because most British people see it as a little bit of eccentricity, making a point about the environment, and simply get on with their day (and look the other way if they find it distasteful )

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/05/2024 13:52

Women who are survivors of sexual violence may likely find it triggering to see a naked dude on a bike.

What if a flasher was to explain to police "No intimidation intended officer I just like to naked when I'm at the park". Penis may not be erect so hey, how can you prove otherwise.

It's either ok to be naked in public full stop or it isn't

Not sure what ‘thanks for nothing means’. Did you actually expect me to work back through the thread on your demand? Remarkable. Put the work in yourself if it’s that important to you.

Oh come on.

If women were upset about being gawped at they wouldn't take part, would they?

It's not compulsory.

And if men want to see naked women all they need to do is look on their phones. Far easier than hanging around on a street, often in the cold, to catch sight of a some boobs.

You have no proof of the vastly disproportionate men or what they wear.

Honestly, this thread is a laugh.
You'd think everyone was forced to watch or forced to take part.

Most people don't give a flying fuck.

"thanks for nothing" is very clear and I've explained it in my post. You made a claim by stating "those" ie means a lot more than one - you've been unable to come up with a single post never mind a couple. You made the statement as you claimed you read the posts, saw them, I have not - so post them please. Otherwise, your comments are irrelevant.

SirChenjins · 20/05/2024 13:57

‘Those’ doesn’t mean a lot - it can be more than one or many, but it doesn’t mean a lot.

I have the photos organizers take of their own events to show it’s overwhelmingly men. Look it up yourself.

But you have to pretend it’s not to fit your narrative. Blatant dishonesty in the face of the evidence us never a convincing argument.

But then, your narrative won’t allow you to answer why men are overwhelmingly attracted to these events, because the answer does not fit with your narrative.

LindorDoubleChoc · 20/05/2024 14:00

Yanbu OP. Whilst I think it's perfectly possible to avoid this event altogether and probably not worth getting het up about from that angle, I do find it incredibly odd that there is some sort of indulgent waiver to the normal rules about being unddressed in public for this event. It's not clever, it's not funny, it's getting very tired now and should stop imho.

Not impressive.
