Sick of the Naked Bike Ride

Hello I'm posting about the York- World Naked Bike Ride ob 29th June 2023 @ 4.15pm. This year I've decided enough is enough and as a York mum I'm going to go along and tell them so (North Yorkshire police have also been informed).

Having your cock and balls (overwhelming majority of naked participants are men) out in public isn't OK on any other day of the week - even if they are virtuous, net zero, climate saving ones.

No one really believes it's OK for adults to parade around naked in front of families and children in public without their consent and why should we have to stay at home? So this year I'll be there to collect evidence and respectfully handing out some pants.

I don’t know why anyone does it. Foul tbh

Take a look at the photos of this event online.

There are as many women as men.

Boobs on show, can't say I saw any vaginas as the women are sitting on the saddles.

Seconded - i last recall seeing something similar in the press and it was almost 50/50 and some of the people look in their 30's as I expected them all to be a lot older

Longma · 19/05/2024 20:49

Only seen them once - in Sheffield.
It was pretty much 50/50 here when we saw it.

"foul" - i doubt it but should be confined to naturist camps, beaches and other autorised venues but not in town

40andlovelife · 19/05/2024 20:49

@DontforgetyourSPF you're comparison to a show with actors in is quite frankly ridiculous and poorly thought out .

You have your opinion, I have mine

Thanks for the heads-up!!

MsCheeryble · 19/05/2024 21:22

why should we have to stay at home?

No-one has to stay at home. Yorkshire's a hell of a large county. It could't be easier to avoid the Naked Bike Ride if you want to. Travelling there to be offended will just make you look ridiculous.

Lemsipper · 19/05/2024 21:25

imagine having to sniff the bike seats after 👃🏻

Maidez · 19/05/2024 12:22

The only ones who bother me (when they do it here) are the ones on the Boris bikes 😭

Edited

Better a naked person on a Boris bike than a naked Boris on a bike.

I'm not being ridiculous.

You choose to be offended by naked bodies.
You said so.

On stage, on a bike, what's the odds?

Are you even in the UK?

You've not even seen photos of the events. if you had, you'd see how way off the mark you are with your 'disgust'.

Alicewinn · 19/05/2024 22:04

I love it that everybody starts going on about children when it comes to nudity, when it's just your own shame. FGS. Are we the only country that's so weird about it? Go and have a sauna in Germany, Netherlands then jump in an ice bath, you might enjoy yourself

LakeTiticaca · 19/05/2024 22:15

Bleugh 🤮 disgusting. I certainly didn't what to see goolies on parade, that's the reason why we wear clothes .It should be banned. I hope they bloody well clean the saddles when they get off!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 19/05/2024 22:22

Unless the men are cycling around with full on erections I don’t see the harm even if children do see the naked bodies. Seeing a naked body is not inherently sexual, we all have a body and most adult bodies are used for far more than sex. I think it does more damage to think that bodies are something that should always be covered up or to think that being naked always means you are being sexual. Normalising the naked human body to children is not a problem so long as those bodies aren’t aroused or engaging in anything sexual.

ShiteRider · 19/05/2024 22:26

40andlovelife · 19/05/2024 19:31

@ShiteRider why else would they do it? Ok maybe most are paedos and some are voyeurists. Either way, they're actually sick. They want people to see their sexual parts. They are a risk. They get off on it. Otherwise why do it? And please don't give me all that lefty shite.

Are you OK?

Even if they’re getting their kicks from it there’s absolutely no indication that they’re peadophiles. If you are genuinely making this leap of logic you either need to develop your critical reasoning skills or see a mental health professional.

BugBugTheTornado · 19/05/2024 22:34

Was in London last year on the day it happened there.

DH and I were cracking up, and I took a lovely pic of us laughing together, but didn't actually realise there was a naked arse just visible on the outside frame of the pic (in the distance). I printed it and put it in a multi-pic family frame - is, the kids etc - for my nans 90th (late June) and only noticed the arse on fucking Christmas Day 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Jellycats4life · 19/05/2024 22:36

It’s weird, creepy and exhibitionist.

I have yet to understand the point of them.

therealcookiemonster · 19/05/2024 22:38

sounds pretty dangerous. there is a reason people should wear pants.

I did actually mean showing off their naked bodies say in an area like a park, wooded. Not on a naked bike ride.

ViscountessMelbourne · 19/05/2024 22:58

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 19/05/2024 19:54

Errrr perhaps reread that.

Being naked in public isn’t illegal unless it causes offence, except it does cause offence to the poster, which you’ve just minimised by saying she has chosen to be offended. Well doesn’t everyone who feels offended do that through choice?

Being naked in public is illegal if your intention is to cause alarm or distress. If an unusually sensitive bystander is distressed by your art installation/ political protest/ridiculous bike ride then that doesn't count.

If an unusually robust dog walker simply laughs off a flasher's attempt at serious sexual intimidation in a secluded place then that does still count.

AbsolutelyFemale · 19/05/2024 22:58

We were surprised by this event when we were in town. They did seem mainly gross men tbh, the few women i saw were young and attractive whereas the men really were not. For example.....

Of its well enough advertised then more fragile minds can stay indoors.
Bet you are the first to stay indoors for a bit of rain.

Tosstyhat · 19/05/2024 23:14

So it's only different from flashing because of the intent? I don't understand this tbh. Surely a person's reaction to seeing unwanted genitalia doesn't depend on the intent of the person?

Flasher gets his cock out to upset someone, person gets upset = crime

Naked bike rider, doesn't want to upset someone, person gets upset = not a crime

Imagine if we applied that logic to everything?

Quiteavibe · 19/05/2024 23:15

I think it would make more sense to do something where being naked would enhance the whole thing, like swimming or sunbathing in the nude. Cycling is such an odd thing to pick, first the saddle, and then if you fall off, clothes are better to protect you, it's a good reason to wear long trousers when cycling.

I'm still not getting it! It's like the naked rambler who walks round tick-infested moors, it doesn't make any sense not to wear clothes in this situation.

Tosstyhat · 19/05/2024 23:21

The more I think about it, the more I don't understand it. Why do they have to ride bikes naked? What is the point? Why should members of the public have to look at it? Yes you could stay home but why should you have to? Why couldn't they just NOT ride bikes naked? Bloody weirdos 😂
