Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

Commence rambling / ranting / updates etc

loucee- might DS2 not have them yet because i'm breastfeeding him still?

Good night here- DS2 slept 7pm-2am without waking, and in his own bed. Then brought him to bed and he slept until 6am!!!!

loucee · 16/07/2008 11:17

TG - that's what the Doctor told me, that my DS (6.5mths) would get immunity from me but I think he meant DS wouldn't get the pox at all. He also said when DD got her first spots she would have caught the pox 10-16 days before than and been contagious for 5 days previous. So I think DS caught it off DD and although he is bfed it wasn't enough.

simpson · 16/07/2008 13:45

Loucee- I want to lose a stone but the lure of crisps and a large glass of red wine in the evenings (a reward for getting through the day!!)is not helping!!!Hopefully if we do have another DS will be at school or at least not too far off. Will start full time Sept 2009. I have to resign from work in Oct I think...

Hi Simpson and welcome and afternoon to everyone else.

All this talk of ttc is sending me to the gp's this afternoon to have a chat about contraception (otherwise I'll only have myself to blame).

Grrrl -- well done to your DS2 for sleeping so well. DS is improving all the time too (sometimes sleep 10 hours now, although I usually wake up wondering what's happened to him). I hope he avoids chicken pox.

Don't know who asked it, but I'm not sure how to stop the little one getting into the bigger one's things -- it's just beginning to be a problem around here and I haven't really done anything to avoid it. Better start segregating the toys...

loucee · 16/07/2008 16:45

Just went to Boots and couldn't buy any calnight or medised as you aren't allowed to give to under 2 now. The bottle still says from 3 months but apparently it changed recently (I remember it being on the news about some cough medicines changing but didn't realise they had to be 2 now). Still, he can have normal calpol.

simpson · 16/07/2008 17:31

Just got back from shops and the whole time we were out DS (2.10) had to regale me with things that don't jump ie cars, houses, trees, roads...you get the picture!! There was only so long I could keep interested!!

justkeepswimming · 16/07/2008 17:57

hey simpson. good to see you over here too

blardy nanny state and medised/calpol night - they changed the rules to over 2's as SOME parents couldn't/didn't read the instructions on dosages properly. so instead of trusting those of use with HALF A BRAIN, none of us are allowed it
course, you can just lie anyway and say it's for a 3 year old so what's the point.......

rant over and breathe......

bad news re chicken pox, we have avoided any major illnesses here,
so far,
touch wood.....

hi all

Chaotica · 16/07/2008 18:19

Simpson -- hope you told him that elephants don't jump [breathe]

simpson · 16/07/2008 18:57

Hi all cheers for welcome.
(Simpson waves to JKS)

Had a pretty good day today. DD (24 wks) absolutely adores her big bro. Is lovely to watch. He kisses her and she chuckles away at him, beaming etc. She seems to find him the funniest thing on the planet.

I know it won't last once she is on the move and nicking his toys etc. But was sweet. Almost brought a tear to my eye (sob)!

hazeyjane · 16/07/2008 19:58

Hello everyone.

I found Medised the best thing with chicken pox, not sure why, I think the only reason the chemists have said 2's only is because some people were using Medised on top of normal Calpol, although the lady in Boots who quizzed me about ages of dd's said that Boots would rather stop selling cough medicines, Medised and Calpol night for children altogether!!!!! Pleease not until dd2 has stopped teething, she is a blardy nightmare at the moment because she has a molar coming through, and Medised is the only thing that seems to work.

I don't know about 2nd lo's getting into bigger lo's stuff, this morning dd2 managed to get covered in glitter and eat half a crayon, so my handy hints might be a bit useless.

Has anyone else's dc's started really fighting over toys yet? my too are at it all the time.

Cute boys Grrl, that is one cheeky grin!

Jewelsandgems · 17/07/2008 07:03

hello girls! I am taking this opportunity whilst Izzy is in her babywalker to post so I may have to dash off at any time.....

Anyway, DD2 slept til 0600 again today which was nice. She was a good girl all yesterday too but I think the seperation anxiety may have started; she is usually fine with mum and is all laughs and smiles but yesterday, she was not happy unless I was in the room and I was the one carrying her. I will try and make quick 2 second trips out of hthe room today and come back straight away so she realises I always come back - aparently that's supposed to help. Watch this space....

Well loucee we are near stirling. I am not sure where hamilton is - near glasgow? will google it later to find out more

the weather today looks like lovely rain. Mmmmm. Well I am supposed to go for a walk today with my neighbour but as we don't hae he double raincover for the P&T, DD1 will have to be very waterproofed. (though she'll think that's lots of fun anyway)

Am just watching lazytown - by the way, do any of you think sparticus is foxy? I think he is!
Ok, I'd better go before I start working out which tweeny I fancy more

bye for now (big wave)

Kaybeeand2boys · 17/07/2008 11:48

Hey everyone
I didnt realise that you aren't supposed to give medised to under two's now I got some not that long ago for ds1 (19mo) and they didnt bat an eyelid thank god! I don't know how I'd survive without it!!!
Jinxed myself the other day by saying that ds2 had slept through 2 nights in a row, so of course the last couple of nights i have been up and down with both ds's
Have just got ds2 to sleep, ds1 has had lunch and am praying i can get him to go to sleep soon so that I can have a sleep too...........
wish me luck!

TattooedGrrrl · 17/07/2008 13:20

step away from the TV jewels! I HATE Lazy Town, and no he isn't foxy!!!!!

justkeepswimming · 17/07/2008 20:54

hi all, had meltdown today, not good.
just tired really but feel frustrated too...
anyway, a good cry seemed to sort it out, didnt even need to break anything...

here's to tomorrow

lilQuidditchKel · 17/07/2008 21:13

hi all
well my DD was diagnosed with UTI - explains her nightmare crying fits - but to top it off, some bugger ran into my car in the surgery car park. Fortunately someone saw her reverse into it, pull forward, and continue on her merry way, and was kind enough to get me her number plate details. CHeeky little F who thinks that sort of thing is acceptable???? Cue one toddler whining for lunch, one toddler whimpering in feverish agony, and one mummy sinking slowly to the ground in disbelief.....

roll on tomorrow please

lilQuidditchKel · 17/07/2008 21:14

oh and Sparticus fancies himself silly, which kind of takes away from the rippling muscles and all. IMHO.

Also big user of Medised/CalCold. Silly government what are they THINKING?

simpson · 17/07/2008 22:00

Hi all

I am a bit of a Sparticus fan myself (for my sins). What else am I supposed to look at when I have seen Lazy Town 5 times in one bloody day!!!

DS got fancy dress party at playgroup, real wrestle to get him to bed not wearing outfit...

Chaotica · 18/07/2008 00:13

Evening, Ladies y'all are making me feel like I've had an OK day, even without DP to help out at bath/bedtime much respect to all you people who manage on your own, although I'm sure I and the DCs would get the hang of it.

(Not that there's any room for smugness on this thread as having a good day when everyone else has had a crap one doesn't mean the tables won't turn tomorrow. [fingers crossed])

BTW -- How have I managed never to watch Lazytown? After all, I watch far too much Beebies, but I'm more of a Byron Wordsworth admirer myself but that might be because DP suggested that he might fancy Shelley Wordsworth (don't seem to see much of storymakers these days though). Is any one of us so bored and frustrated they'll admit to fancying IgglePiggle??

Hazeyjane -- hmm: glitter and crayon-eating... sound promising... after all, they're non-toxic, aren't they. Might even be slightly nutritious

Just realised that I've had a night in on my own and completely forgotten to have any wine [shrug] This wouldn't have happened pre-children!

Jewelsandgems · 18/07/2008 08:52

Morning all

Thankyou simpson thought it was just me! But that tight suit, those muscles, but yes he does love himself.

ROFL Grrrl regarding your last post

DD2 slept til 6 again this morning, DD1 is out with DH doing some shopping, and then I'll wake DD2, and look after her til 1030 when I set off for pilates. Really look forward to fridays

I was talking to my friend yesterday who has having a baby at the beginning of september. I am visiting her mid-sep and she suggested we could go for lunch. I was trying to think of a nice way to explain it is very unlikely we will be going out for lunch in a restaurent unless she has a babysitter! But, she would not have any of it. She will learn....also offered to do housework/babysit whilst she had a sleep and she told me I was a guest so no housework, and she did not want anyone else looking after the baby but her! Think she may be in for a shock when her and her DH have not had 5 mins together in weeks and the house is a mess.....

Anyway girls, hope you have lovely days and talk soon.

Fleecy · 18/07/2008 13:29

It was me asking about how to stop the younger one getting the older one's toys. At least I know I won't be the only one!

DD is the older one (now 22 mo) and she ate some crayon the other day. She's also eaten cat food and drunk from the watering can (filled from our water butt - yuck!) before and survived. I'm not a terrible mummy (honest) but she's just so damn quick!

I think I'm just going to have to be more careful with DS when he's bigger. And ask DD to help make sure he doesn't eat anything dodgy.

I remember thinking we'd take our baby out with us everywhere, she'd sleep through from 6 weeks and everything would be fine. Hmph! Your friend will soon find out Jewels and you'll be able to grin on the inside!

My parents looked after DD yesterday. They put her down for a nap in her travel cot but around 45 mins later, heard her playing my old ukulele from when I was little! My Dad went in to see and she told him teddy had got out of bed so she had to as well. Dad said she should go back to bed and she said 'Not today Granddad'. Cheeky thing!

Chaotica · 18/07/2008 16:21

Oh your friend is in for a shock, Jewels... (I was lucky my best friend made this mistake and had a screamer a shortish while before I had DD (who was pretty cool as babies go, although I still had no time) so I never got around to having illusions about doing anything after the birth!

...Must go -- DS woke up as soon I pressed the first key to write this post (how do they do that??). (And his nappy smells baaaad) (Sorry! TMI)

loucee · 18/07/2008 16:55

Jewels - any tips for helping the wee ones sleep better? My DS had 5 feeds last night but since he's got the chicken pox I wont try and get him to sleep better until he's better.

justkeepswimming · 18/07/2008 18:06

lilQK - your poor dd, have the drugs started working yet? and what's happened about the car thing?
i worry about you all sportacus as he has an unhealthy interest in young pink girls....
quite like some of the beebies presenters tho.....
as for 'piggle' - nah not my type, makka pakka could be handy around the house tho

chaotica - how did you forget the wine?!?!?! fancy a LARGE glass tonight, was good and didn't have any last night, after 3(!) the night before.
am i the only woman who likes red, white & rose? when i had the mums round the other night they all only drink one colour, either white or rose, no-one seems to like red. i'm having red tonight, yum

jewels - re your friend, well she'll learn! but in those early days with just 1 it would be do-able, we did it a lot, cos they just sleep in their car seat/buggy and no-one even knows they're there! it's later on.....or with more than one.....no way!
how is pilates?? trying to persuade some others to come with me to a yogalates (?) class.

fleecy - re the toys, it's a hard one, cos of course you've got things in the house now that you didn't let dc1 have at such a young age. my plan - if you can call it that - is to put the non-ds2 toys in ds1's bedroom for 'quiet time' (seeing as how naps have gone out the window ) play. others may just have to hide for a while. others ds2 will just be allowed early.
the other issue is how will ds1 react???? sharing is not a fave concept
will we end up getting 2 of everything...

ds2 had 2 feeds a night last few nights, really hope he gets the sleeping through idea soon - before i have to get tough (on myself) and try cc.

anyhoo, just time for cup of tea and charlie and lola before bed!

Cazwa · 18/07/2008 20:29

Had a GREAT time in Norway

Promise I wont mention it again.

Back to reality....

simpson · 18/07/2008 21:48
