Find it today and

  1. embroider your mobile number on it, 2) microchip it, 3) stitch an engraved identity disc to it, 4) tattoo it...

Dd is being brave about the loss of her beloved teddy and avenanap has kindly offered to make her another (thanks again, avenenap). But she is still wobbly and tearful at bedtime or if anything reminds her.

I'm kicking myself black and blue over letting her carry him around with no ID.

After nine and a half years I was so used to him going everywhere with us, I never thought about it.

Don't hesitate - put some ID on those toys and save yourselves rivers of tears .

Good idea, and so sorry poor dd is feeling wobbly. I spend all holiday, every holiday checking for ds's leopard...

Hi emmie. I'll put a tag on it for you so you can write your phonenumber on it. I've sent you an email. I'd have rather they had taught me latin at school not sewing, I'm glad it's finally come in handy though. Do you think I could start up a business? Replacement bears for those lost on their travels and mending those who have been loved a bit too much?

I'm sure you could start a business - there are people out there making a living at it. I found a woman in the states who does - and pelafina, lots of people ask her to make replicas of toys before they're lost (kicking myself even more)

I don't think the bear factory have copyright on bear passports??? I'll have a look and pop one of these in the box aswell.

ComeOVeneer · 02/04/2008 17:50

Sorry to hear about the lost toy, DS has his teddy and they are inseperable.

Pelafina, if you do buy a second one alternate it frequently woith the origib=nal so both wear equally. We bought a second one for ds too late and there is a marked difference in the original and the new, and ds won't touch the new one witha barge pole!

catinthehat · 02/04/2008 17:53

Definitely buy a duplicate - if you do you will never need it, if you don't you will. We have 2 different spares stashed away.

Oooh that works on so many levels

DS left his favourite toy (a little doll) in the bank last week, by the time we got back there later that day it had disappeared . He had it since he was a baby, there where tears and lots of mourning, now he says his baby died . I wish we'd put some ID on it now.

Who would take a grubby old doll though?

PanicPants · 02/04/2008 17:57

We have an identical duplicate - but there is no way ds will ever accept it!

His 'Henry' is loved to shabbyness, and although I've tried to make duplicate Henry look just as shabby it's just known as 'Bear' to ds, and discarded disdainfully!

Don't do that just buy them all up - we have 10 of DSs monkey - he is seriously attached to 2 of them which are dirty and crabby and won't touch the other 8 that are perfect though!
