Find it today and

  1. embroider your mobile number on it, 2) microchip it, 3) stitch an engraved identity disc to it, 4) tattoo it...

Dd is being brave about the loss of her beloved teddy and avenanap has kindly offered to make her another (thanks again, avenenap). But she is still wobbly and tearful at bedtime or if anything reminds her.

I'm kicking myself black and blue over letting her carry him around with no ID.

After nine and a half years I was so used to him going everywhere with us, I never thought about it.

Don't hesitate - put some ID on those toys and save yourselves rivers of tears .

I tried to get another of DD's favourite toy to guard against future tragic loss - to no avail. It's only a little dog from Mothercare, thousands of kids probably have an identical one they never even look at! We lost it in the house one day . . . I still remember the panic and stress.

After that I made the rule that he [the toy]was never allowed out of the house. Holidays are the only exception and then he has to stay in the holiday home. The same applies to DS's "special" toy, which he only has because DD has one.

They have accepted this perfectly, and think it confers yet more special status on the toy, that this is the ONLY one not ALLOWED out of the house, on account of its preciousness. It's worth a try

Balloonslayer, you are so right, and we'd have been okay if I'd insisted he should remain in the hotel to look after the luggage. But he had been up the Eiffel tower with us the week before and dd and he had such a good time...

Hiya, dd (3 1/2) has a pink bunny which shes had from the day she was born and used to carry it with her everywhere, we couldnt go out with out it etc she still has to sleep with it now but isnt quite so bad. We dont take the bunny out, just use mainly for bed time.

I def agree with tagging the teddy sumhow and i really wana do this to dd's we had so many probs losing this bear, leaving it sumwhere if we were to stay away etc, we lost her while we went shopping and had to go back the next day, to luckily find sumone had handed it in in TKMax!!

BUYING A 2ND TEDDY IS A MUST, LIKE SOMEBODY SAID,...BUY THE SHOP OUT LOL
