Teen nursery parents….just being nosey!

Last year I noticed at my DDs nursery in her class (babies) that one of the children’s Mums was a schoolgirl (dropped her off wearing her school uniform, looked 15/16).
This year she no longer wears a school uniform and picks up her child everyday with her boyfriend/the child’s father. I am guessing they are both 17ish based on finishing school last year and that they look very young etc. I am completely judging here (awful I know!) but based on how they dress/act, I would ASSUME they don’t have a lot of money/money for nursery fees. I would also query what they do for work as they are both coming to pick her up at 4pm 3 days a week, often in pyjama like wear.
Yes this is just awful and judgemental and really not very kind behaviour but I’m just curious/nosey as to whether you get free child hours etc if you don’t work…..maybe you get it if you continue education (they could be in college)?
Again, judgey and awful. But I’m more judging the government than the parents.

At DS’ last nursery the Mum of one of his friends was an 19 yo mum of 4 and was the youngest mum there. She used to often come into nursery in her sixth form uniform.

They either live with their parents, grandparents or in a council tenancy with all the relevant financial help

She had four kids, or her child was four?

Don't post daft, stuff on a public forum if you don't like people's honest responses I guess. It's almost like you aren't enjoying being judged by strangers....!

Ironic isn't it!

How do you know they are the baby's parents? Could they be siblings, another relative or just generally helping out by dropping the baby off.

Is it your business?

Our oldest daughter picked up our youngst daughter now and then from nursery in comfy clothes on her way home. Looking young too.
She often wore scrubs during training hours at the hospital and changed into comfy clothes. No one at nursery minded.

@Dacadactyl i don't know they’re at college, I’m trying to work out how they’re entitled for nursery place IF they don’t work.

Of course you are.

Guess what? Whether they work or not is none of your business.
There are funded places out there for parents who don't work.
I suspect if she was dropping baby off in school uniform then they'll be getting a lot of support from both child and adult services.

I'm sure she's picked up on you judging her already whilst she's hopefully trying to do her best for herself and baby.

@ObliviousCoalmine don't use that word, just not needed for adult conversations

Is cunt a word you think is more befitting the teens you're sneering about?

Flyhigher · 13/03/2024 16:34

Why not ask a friend this question rather than mumset.

Of course it makes sense that a young teen is offered some free hours. I very much doubt it's full time for free.

Coming on here to judge young mothers is unlikely to end positively.

They have some help. Let them enjoy it and make the best of it.

Because it’s not for the benefit of the parents it’s for the benefit of the child.

People like you piss me off OP - stop being so fucking nosey. I was a parent that age and I used a nursery to get my a-levels and then eventually a degree. I’m improved mine and my DD life chances and managed to get a job where I now contribute to society. I worked full time before some of my friends who were the same age and didn’t have children.

I bet there were people like you judging me and what I wore. I’m so glad that my life experience has taught not to be a judgemental busybody.
