so my daughter has natural blonde hair and wanted to be Hermione for world book day!
me stupidly bought a “wash in wash out” 4.0 brown dye from SuperDrug I did it tonight and it’s turned her hair (mainly the front root area) bright orange!! I’ve washed it another 3 times and it’s still the same. Absolutely gutted and so is my daughter! How do I correct this pls! If anyone has any tips on how do get rid of the orange I would greatly appreciate it xx

That was absolutely crazy, what age is she?

Try Johnson’s baby shampoo but I think you have made a big mistake and don’t think it’s going to come out in one night.

Good luck.

Can you post some pics @Booshbishpa
I am a hairdresser.

Booshbishpa · 06/03/2024 23:08

Thank you. The back and length isn’t too bad it’s more so at the front / root
thanks

Did you put it on her roots first?

buswankerz · 06/03/2024 23:16

Try repeatedly washing with washing up liquid to lift as much colour out as possible.

Booshbishpa · 06/03/2024 23:16

No just all over x

Fairy liquid

NiceHairPin · 06/03/2024 23:24

Oh no. I'm sorry but that was a really, really daft thing to do! It's gone on evenly though and the colour is ok. I'm impressed with how natural it looks tbh. How light was your daughter's hair? Try head and shoulders tomorrow.

Booshbishpa · 06/03/2024 23:27

She’s blonde. Will it eventually just wash out over time?? 😭😭 thanks will try fairy and head and shoulders thanks

Not hair advice but could she go as Ginny instead? And fix her hair over the weekend?

Booshbishpa · 06/03/2024 23:30

Yeah she’s fine about it tomorrow she’s not too fussed I’m more just gutted that it’s happened to her hair! :-(

Blue shampoo will strip the colour out

TesticularHeft · 06/03/2024 23:30

It's actually a lovely colour. I'd be googling red heads in books.

Fairy liquid is your friend but she will need a hair mask.

Shame it's gone this way. Ignore the negativity. It should have been an absolutely fine idea for a wash out colour - assuming it's not 20 washes 😂

Booshbishpa · 06/03/2024 23:32

I know literally was just a bit of fun wash in wash out . But always get a Karen 🤣🤣🤣🙌🏻
thanks everyone for your help appreciate it xx

Any blue shampoo? Do you recommend one? Thanks

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2024 23:36

I'd get some blue conditioner, glob it on and leave it to sit for a while. Should help to tone down the ginger.

terriblyangryattimes · 06/03/2024 23:40

I hate to tell you this but last summer we dyed my daughter's hair purple (washes out in 6 washes, apparently) and it's still lilac now ☹️ going to have to dye it before she starts senior school if it isn't out by then!
Good luck, fairy liquid is meant to help but didn't do a jot in our case. At least your daughters looks natural!

NiceHairPin · 06/03/2024 23:56

Is your daughter ok with it? It's good that it's a natural colour

You could try something like this colour removing shampoo

Yeah I’m really worried about using anything else now on her hair. I’m just hoping in a few washes it might just rinse / fade out and go back to normal ?? 😵‍💫🥴🥴

Crush vit C tablets make a paste with water and leave it on her hair for a bit, it helps remove the colour

Test it on some strands of hair from close to the nape of her neck where it won't be usable.
