I've seen 4 different doctors and no one knows what this is . I've seen three at my local centre and one in A&E this morning got sent home with antihistamine.
He's had antibiotics for a week ! Still getting new sores !

Oh my word this looks awful. No idea so no help I'm afraid, but hope someone can.

How is he "in himself"? Any fever etc?

He's ok! Uncomfortable, itchy , sleeping less !
But no temperature , still eating / drinking normally.
Feel at a loss , don't know how to help him!

It looks like really bad impetigo but I'm sure the doctors ruled that out, it's not that rare
Your poor little one 😓

Poor little darling, that looks so sore, no idea what it could be, I hope little one is better soon. Hugs for you OP, nothing worse than you kids being ill.

Bobskeleton · 29/02/2024 16:47

Has he been seen by a dermatologist?

Kellymama · 29/02/2024 16:49

No ! They haven't even swabbed or done skin scrape etc .

manipulatrice · 29/02/2024 17:00

Poor kiddo.

I would be going spare by now. They surely need to do some HG blood tests to see if it's a reaction and check his white cell markers as well?

Bobskeleton · 29/02/2024 17:02

If your GP can't tell you what is causing it ask for a dermatologist referral, and definitely ask for a swab to be taken to help guide treatment.

Hope your little boy feels better soon.

frenchnoodle · 29/02/2024 17:04

Presumably the doctors will have seen leprosy before, so it's unlikely to be that. Scabies would presumably clear up with antibiotics... Are you in the UK?

My DD gets something very similar to this, angry red circles of all different sizes on her skin but it's usually her legs, we was told its an allergy to something she's sometimes in contact with but it takes weeks to clear it each time. We tried numerous different types of creams and the only one that worked was emuovate. It may not be the same as your DS but may be worth giving the emuovate a try if you've not already, DD gets hers from the GP buy you can buy it over the counter from the pharmacy too. Definitely ask for a dermatology referral if it doesn't clear up, it looks so sore for him 😔

Eumie · 29/02/2024 17:58

Could it be bites from something that he’s having a reaction to?

I agree that looks so sore. Do you have an MIU or anything near you? If you can’t get a GP go there and insist on a swab!

I've thought of all sorts and can't come up with any causes 🤦🏼‍♀️

Fingers crossed for another doctor tomorrow

No ! They haven't even swabbed or done skin scrape etc .

I think you need to speak to a GP and try and get an urgent dermatology appointment. Don't let them fob you off.

Has he been playing outside with bare skin exposed to any plants?

FusionChefGeoff · 29/02/2024 20:54

Can you Accor a private GP / private dermatologist?

YourLocal · 29/02/2024 21:33

Oh god!! Looks bad. When I saw first pic thought it was an ingury. Def go to a&e immdeiatley if it won’t stop. Maybe an infection of sorts ? Hope he gets better sorry for my spelling xx

idontlikealdi · 29/02/2024 21:50

Looks like infected impetigo

GlitteryEars · 29/02/2024 21:52

Looks like impetigo.

I hope you get sorted tomorrow 🤞💐

How did it go?

Kellymama · 01/03/2024 20:02

Two doctors came in to have a look and both said they have no idea what it is. They took a swab FINALLY! So hopefully we get some sort of result / answers from that !
They think it's fungal so given a fungal medication for two weeks. If that doesn't work they'll refer him to dermatologist.
