No

flowerchild2000 · 20/12/2023 12:11

Absolutely not, not even half that.

Wheeeeee · 20/12/2023 12:11

Absolutely not!

My 2.5 year old would barely manage 2 minutes unless it was accompanied by visual effects!!

Changed18 · 20/12/2023 12:13

A bit older than that, we took her to a musical and she lay on the floor and cried, saying she wanted to go home.

IKnowYouBetterThanThat · 20/12/2023 12:21

No, none of mine would have. Maybe five minutes with a bag of chocolate buttons. Unless the concert was specifically aimed at children, then maybe ten! I never managed to produce the kind of child that could sit still!

BlochOff · 20/12/2023 12:22

No. My eldest was/is known to be very 'easy' to do things we with and would have made a much better attempt at it than the youngest (who is not😆). But 2hrs is far too long for anything seated let alone a concert which would be v boring for them.

mynameiscalypso · 20/12/2023 12:24

Nope. I have a 4 year old who loves going to the theatre but he gets very restless after about 45 mins. He's not the only one - you can often see it in the last 10 mins of plays aimed at children (which are generally less than an hour long). The noise creeps up and there are more children running around.

SeaToSki · 20/12/2023 12:25

Yes, but it would take active management on my part and would be much easier if it was something they were entertained by. So Christmas concert aimed at children fine, Bach and I wouldnt get to relax and listen to much myself. Also one of mine would be much easier than the others. I would pack small quiet snacks (like raisins) and a drawing tablet or stickers or pipe cleaners for emergency entertainment. It is not something I would actively choose to do unless it was a family Christmas concert type thing

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 20/12/2023 12:25

Unlikely to get past the 30 minute mark without having to leave with the kid.

MonkeyPuddle · 20/12/2023 12:26

Absolutely not a cat in hells chance

FloweryName · 20/12/2023 12:30

One of mine regularly sat through 2 hour long productions from 2.5. The other could only get through 10 minutes of a panto without creating a scene until he was about 6.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 20/12/2023 12:33

Nope. We have been to 2 shows, 50 mins each just about managed that, 1 hour would be the maximum x

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 20/12/2023 12:35

Is it a kids concert? My 3yo sits through cinema films, but we've been taking her regularly from young she has built up her stamina and is used to it

Friedfriedplantain · 20/12/2023 12:36

I'd plan to stay till the interval.

Namechange13101 · 20/12/2023 12:39

What sort of concert? My 2 year old just about sat through the Cbeebies last year but that was about an hour ans specifically designed for under 5's!

Ortila · 20/12/2023 12:39

Not a chance.

Age seven minimum ime.

And if you need to take snacks of any kind, they're not ready.

There are quite often concerts aimed at children especially around Xmas where the musicians and audience expect a bit of disruption, but even for that three is too young.

Newuser75 · 20/12/2023 12:44

At 3 we took our youngest to our eldest school concert which lasted an hour. It wasn't an enjoyable experience 🙈. He has done it this year at 4 and was fine with a bag of sweets. The extra year made all the difference.

Almostnew2023 · 20/12/2023 12:47

Just turned 3 is really young. My performing arts obsessed child managed full length ballets from 5, shorter ones (1-1.5h) from 4, but he is already unusual.

Tomatoketchupred · 20/12/2023 12:48

Nope definitely not

CanaryCanary · 20/12/2023 12:49

Hahaha no.

stepintochristmas1 · 20/12/2023 12:50

Ha ha you've got to be joking !

likenier · 20/12/2023 13:06

My DDs have been attending productions of that length since they were 6m. Always family-friendly shows - pantos, Snowman ballet, concerts for kids, Cbeebies proms etc. We bring lots of snacks, books and soft toys, and I breastfed both until age 3.5 so that would always keep them quiet if needed. They're both the type who have always sat well and listened in toddler classes too.

FacingTheWall · 20/12/2023 13:07

Anything age appropriate then yes.

LBFseBrom · 20/12/2023 13:21

flowerchild2000 · 20/12/2023 12:11

Absolutely not, not even half that.

Mine too, would fidget, speak (or fall asleep).
