9 month old is incredibly unsettled, coughing a lot, very phlegmy and has a huge sore patch under his chin and some other little rashy areas?

Anything to worry about?! Sad

I would get him seen right away.

FiveCows · 17/11/2023 19:01

Yes I would say he needs to be seen

CesareBorgia · 17/11/2023 19:02

Get him seen ASAP - I hope he is OK.

Yes I agree. He needs medical attention tonight. Have you checked if his rash disappears if you roll a glass over it?

middlenights · 17/11/2023 19:04

He was seen by a GP 3 days ago because he was unwell and they said it was just a virus/flu that is doing the rounds and didn't prescribe anything but this was pre-rash and he's not gotten any better Sad

middlenights · 17/11/2023 19:10

Is it looking like something specific that's making everyone say that?

OP posts:

The general look of him is concerning. His lips look a little dark. And the rash could be sores from being damp or it could be something more serious like a meningitis rash.

People might also be concerned about sepsis.

it may not be any of those things but he does look poorly and I would take him to be seen as soon as possible.

Hope he's better soon, poor little thing. He does look unwell at 9m you should definitely get him seen just to rule out anything serious. Hope he feels better soon.

QueenofTerrasen · 17/11/2023 19:20

He looks really unwell. Take him to A&E tonight, it's not worth the risk.

gamerchick · 17/11/2023 19:22

Bless him man. Poor wee mite.

Yeah he's obviously unwell. I'd take him to be checked over. Hope he's on the mend soon, he looks miserable.

Hd hasn’t got any better in 3 days, is unsettled and has a new rash. Along with his young age, it’s worth getting him checked tonight.

Wasywasydoodah · 17/11/2023 19:30

I don’t like the look of those rashes. Do they disappear when you put a glass on them?

watersoul · 17/11/2023 19:36

Poor thing. He looks very poorly I would get him seen again as soon as possible.

Yes they do

He's been scratching a lot so some bits you can see are scratches rather than the rash alone but yes the big chin blob is really sore looking Sad he's currently asleep with socks on his hands because he was scratching himself so much. Usually he falls asleep on the boob every night but he won't settle for me at all, he screams relentlessly and is only settling for my husband! He's proper out of sorts. I've phoned 111

That’s good news about the rash.
Great that you are on to 111.

I hope he feels better very soon x

Charlingspont · 17/11/2023 19:51

Oh he does look poorly. Poor him and poor you. 111 was the right thing, hope they can help.

Wasywasydoodah · 17/11/2023 19:52

oh, poor thing. 111 is good

ChocHotolate · 17/11/2023 20:09

Can you try giving him a dose of calpol? If he's in pain then this may help. Do also seek advice too, 111 may be very helpful

keepingsanity · 17/11/2023 20:16

I'd take him to your nearest out of hours.

Moonshine160 · 17/11/2023 20:17

Is he dribbling a lot? The rash looks sore and could be caused by excess drooling. I would still get him seen asap regardless though. Even if it’s nothing it still needs to be checked. Get him seen tonight.

Thesearmsofmine · 17/11/2023 20:17

I would just take him to A&E, I wouldn’t want to wait around for a call back etc from 111.

mummybear945 · 17/11/2023 20:24

I went with my daughter with something like this about 2 weeks ago. She had the rash on her cheeks, sores in her mouth and cold like symptoms. They said it's a viral infection that is going around. It went away on its own. Also I heard there is hand foot and mouth going around. I would still call 111 for advice just to make sure it's not something else.
