Just curious what is normal/average for a mum who works part time and has young children?

£1280 after tax + pension

Mushroo · 31/10/2023 14:05

How long is a piece of string. I have kept my professional job so I earn a very decent amount (c.3.5k)

Whyty · 31/10/2023 14:06

Just kept my job as before kids

CoalCraft · 31/10/2023 14:09

1.9K after deductions. I work full-time though so I guess part time would be about half that. My kids are 14 months and nearly three.

Moneymonkey · 31/10/2023 14:11

Same as @riotlady - £1283 after tax and pension. Work 24 hrs a week (WFH).

Redlarge · 31/10/2023 14:14

1300 two kids

Dinoswearunderpants · 31/10/2023 14:15

After tax take home is £4k. I work 4 days a week. 2 in London and 2 from home. One toddler aged 2.5.

anicecuppateaa · 31/10/2023 14:18

The answers here will vary hugely. I work 4 days a week, 3 pre schoolers and take home 4.2k a month.

sparkedsparkle · 31/10/2023 14:18

This all depends on what area you work in, what job role and how many hours....

Me roughly £750 p/month

Bohemond23 · 31/10/2023 14:19

£15-£20k - it is irrelevant that I am female and I have a young child.

ZuliKyanLarsFoz · 31/10/2023 14:19

I work 3 days a week. Pay is £2k after all deductions. 2 kids, ages 4 and 2

Cowlover89 · 31/10/2023 14:19

£1184

Hoolahoophop · 31/10/2023 14:30

@Bohemond23 £15-20k per month? What do you do?

weebarra · 31/10/2023 14:32

17.5 hrs, 3 DCs, £1.5k after deductions.

Jmaho · 31/10/2023 14:36

4 DC's I work mainly from home 2 days ish a month in office, just about to increase to 26 hours a week over 4 days. Will be taking home about £1900 a month

JennyForeigner · 31/10/2023 14:40

3 young kids, term-time only work plus freelance, take home about £3.5k per month. It has been a long tough road to find the right role and I've had to strategically change posts several times, but feels like a huge gift to be in a more stable place now.

We live in fear that the childcare funding promised for next April will be deferred as it has been a case of anything coming in for my earnings going straight back out for childcare costs.

rockingbird · 31/10/2023 14:41

I work 14 hours remotely and take home just under £2k per month. It really depends on the job you do and length of experience

QuacketyQuack · 31/10/2023 14:42

2 kids, 3 days a week, 1400 after tax and pension

KickHimInTheCrotch · 31/10/2023 14:45

I work 30 hours a week and take home about 2k a month. I'm a single parent and have zero flexibility with hours and childcare at the moment.

Prinnny · 31/10/2023 14:46

I work PT, two days a week, long days, and earn £2.2K per month.

Eastie77Returns · 31/10/2023 14:48

£5k - £6.5k a month. Quite a demanding role and it’s sometimes difficult/tiring juggling with DC’s activities etc.

I work around 35 hours a week.

Hoolahoophop · 31/10/2023 14:30

@Bohemond23 £15-20k per month? What do you do?

Yes, per month pre-tax. I run a consultancy business. Finance background and I now write and project manage financial and sustainability communications for listed companies. It's hard work but pays well. And I had my child later so my client relationships were established and easy to pick up after 4 months maternity leave.
