Babygrows as clothes?

I’ve seen lots of controversy about dressing children in babygrows for places like nursery. Am I a rubbish mum for doing so?

For context, my daughter is 9 months old. She has started crawling and pulling herself up and is in between sizes, so leggings / bottoms are either falling down on her or coming up far too short. She is struggling to wear dresses as she is standing on the bottoms of them, and then falling and getting frustrated.

I have been sending her in footless baby grows to nursery, but feel like I am being judged for doing so.

what are peoples honest opinions on this please?

I judge people who put newly mobile (commando crawl, crawling, just standing, starting to walk etc) children in dresses and skirts. Baby grows are practical! Dresses and skirts are not.

Judge away then!

My first lived in dresses (often with cropped leggings underneath when knees needed more protecting). She crawled at 6m and walked at 9m despite the 'impediment' of my clothing choices. I don't remember them making her trip even once.

Second child learned to walk mostly just in a nappy due to covid and a hot summer stuck at home and walked at 13m.

I'm really not sure that clothing choices (unless taken to extremes) matter that much.

OP, it's not what is I would have chosen to send them in, but equally I would neither notice or judge you. The only thing I judge are harsh materials, like hard jeans and jackets, and even then I don't really care much.

Mine wore a baby gro in cooler weather, often with a pair of track pants over and a woolly jumper. They were at an outdoorsy type nursery so needed warmth.

Baby grows are probably the most comfortable for baby to move around in and easiest for staff to change nappies etc, we have ours in bsbygrows most of the time unless it's a special occasion which is rare. I don't get the obsession with people dressing babies in clothes and worse jeans, so uncomfortable for a baby
