Would you say your child is THE best looking in a crowd

I'm really intrigued.

Was having this conversation today with a group of mums.

In a crowd full of children would you look at your own child and think 'they are the best looking out them all'

Because let's face it, everyone seems to think their daughter is the 'most gorgeous' and their son the 'most handsome'

Is it rose-tinted glasses?

(Yes, a very superficial topic, but one I found interesting)

No. I think they’re all gorgeous but I can see objectively that they’re not the best looking in a crowd. Still bloody cute tho

sevenbyseven · 07/07/2023 18:46

No! They're not "model" material but they're gorgeous to me 😊

DoThePropeller · 07/07/2023 18:47

No, I know one of mine is quite pretty, others more average.

I can see how every child is good looking, they all have clear skin, big bright eyes and cute features. Ive rarely seen what I would consider an ugly child. Saying that I do think mine is cuter than most 😂

Newuser75 · 07/07/2023 18:49

I think my eldest is the best looking or certainly one of them.

My youngest I'd say is ridiculously cute rather than stunning if that makes sense.

daytriptovulcan · 07/07/2023 18:49

The best looking isn't even a metric that would enter my head...although, after my partner, they are gorgeous.

thistimelastweek · 07/07/2023 18:50

No but my grandchildren most clearly are!

eandz13 · 07/07/2023 18:51

I have 4 kids, one of my sons is model stunning and I'm regularly told how handsome he is.

IncompleteSenten · 07/07/2023 18:51

No. They look perfectly nice but they aren't stunning.

Whycantyoulickmyfootmummy · 07/07/2023 18:51

I never thought I would as I think all children are just scrummy but I thought this about my daughter the other day.

I don't know if it's because she looks and acts a little older than the others in her class as well being a good head taller.

Last year she looked like a gummy gremlin as she'd lost her front teeth. Definitely not the stunner of the bunch then but always gorgeous to me 😍

PaigeMatthews · 07/07/2023 18:51

Both my children are gorgeous cutie pies

golddustwomen · 07/07/2023 18:52

Yes both of them Grin

Cooroo · 07/07/2023 18:52

I remember when my DD(26) was a baby I was faintly embarrassed at how beautiful she was compared to everyone else's ugly little things. I imagine they all felt the same!

This. I have huge amounts of guilt though because I have 3 DC and whilst they were all beautiful, one was THE MOST beautiful baby I've ever seen. Huge dark eyes, really long lashes, perfect little features. I've never admitted this in print or out loud before.

Ruthietuthie · 07/07/2023 18:54

I think my child is. He has modeled for Ralph Lauren, so he is objectively beautiful and extremely photogenic. (We didn't seek this out, but the casting director of the shoot saw him at another child's party and asked us). But I also thought he was absolutely beautiful when he was born - to the extent of asking the nurse to confirm that he was an unusually attractive baby - and now I look at the photographs and he looks like a shriveled little mouse...

Newuser75 · 07/07/2023 18:57

@ladygindiva my eldest is like this. Was THE most beautiful baby I'd ever seen. People used to stop me in the street and say how handsome he was. People still say it now. My youngest doesn't get the same compliments but he is so so cute!

CorvusPurpureus · 07/07/2023 18:59

Nope. We are a family of lumbering, scowling orcs on the whole, although my kids are definitely clever, funny, well liked & nice.

Dd2 is the exception - she's a talented actress, interested in her appearance & can turn on the glamour. But ds & dd1 are both fairly homely looking young adults, if you put them in a line up of their peers.

It doesn't seem to be holding them back...

booktokbear · 07/07/2023 19:02

Yes for DS L11 , and much to his dislike he gets a huge amount of compliments and "he's going to be a heartbreaker" style comments 🥰

CurlewKate · 07/07/2023 19:04

One of mine objectively was. Talent scouted and all. He's a nice looking young man now, but nothing special.

Mother87 · 07/07/2023 19:07

My three are truly "model" stunning, exceptionally good-looking

LittleMrsPretty · 07/07/2023 19:09

I always wonder this? Wonder if it’s something to do with genetics where you recognise that the your child has similar genetics so you find them cuter or more beautiful.

LadyLardy · 07/07/2023 19:11

Two of mine generally are. Goodness knows where they got their looks from, but they've been blessed with good features. The other two are lovely, but not conventionally good looking.

Mars27 · 07/07/2023 19:11

That's going to depend on age, I suppose.

When DS was born the nurses said he was the most beautiful baby they'd seen in a long time. When he was a baby I had comment after comment saying that he looked like an angel: huge blue eyes, blonde white hair with really long eyelashes. He was also a very happy baby and was always smiling which helped. I was repeatedly mistaken for his nanny and asked if I had been looking after him for a long time (he didn't look anything like me but always looked my grandmother who was a stunning woman).

That continued until around 12 when he hit puberty and now he's at that awkward age that they're neither one thing nor the other, growing disproportionately in odd places with really bad skin. Let's see how he comes out the other side.

But yes, I've seen people on FB with completely average kids, and dare I say some pretty ugly ones, asking for modelling agency contacts so they could take their "beautiful" kids. Let them be delusional, I didn't have the heart to say that it was going to be rejection after rejection Grin

HereForTheFreeLunch · 07/07/2023 19:14

It's like kittens... they are all cute.
Mine were cute like kids are cute - but in a crowd - they would be one of the crowd iyswim.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/07/2023 19:16

Mine is gorgeous, people think he's a girl because he has long, curly hair, big blue eyes and is very pretty. Unfortunately he always looks like he slept in his clothes and hasn't had a bath in months. Doesn't matter how much I try to groom him, he always looks like an extra from Oliver Twist. A very pretty one though.
